Samsung Exynos 2600 engineering sample has surfaced on Geekbench, manufactured by Samsung Foundry on its 2nm process and it may power the Galaxy S26 series.
CPU:
• 1x Cortex- X930 @ 3.55GHz
• 3x Cortex- A730 @ 2.96GHz
• 6x Cortex- A730 2.46GHz
Thus, a deca-core chip of 1+3+6 configuration. The most interesting part is that, all the cores are either medium or high performance cores, thus Exynos 2600 will completely ditch the useless little cores.
Geekbench 6.4 scores
Single-core: 2810
Multi-core: 9310
Samsung Exynos 2600 will feature the Samsung Xclipse 960 GPU. The GPU performance has also been benchmarked on OpenCL
OpenCL score: 21104
Vulkan version: 1.4.304
Interestingly, the OpenCL results shows that there are just 4CU (compute units) and the GPU was running at 555MHz clock speed. Meanwhile, the Xclipse 950 in the Exynos 2500 GPU has 8 CU and it runs at 1GHz clock speed.
Note: Nothing is final as of now as it is quite an early sample being benchmarked and it's likely tested in a controlled environment. Also, it's unknown if Exynos 2600 will debut or not because it depends upon Samsung Foundry's yield improvements.

Interested in knowing what apps are whitelisted on your Lei Jun phone?
Here's a list!
Any package name in this is considered a benchmark app and is provided with higher thermal limits and better performance. Xiaomi even whitelisted their own file explorer 😂
The developers are so goated, they stored it in the system table which anyone can read....
Next up, a tutorial on how to edit this. (If enough people are interested)
And naturally, you can modify any existing app to one of these for better performance on said app if it supports package name changes.

Replit's CEO apologizes after its AI agent wiped a company's code base
Article, Comments
🚨 Xiaomi Watch Users, You've Been Played 🚨
Credits: @minatiscape
Remember when Xiaomi promised built-in AI on your HyperOS smartwatch? Turns out, instead of the on-device AI, your queries and images are now sent straight to some third-party service called *AI Zone* – because clearly nothing says “trust” in handing your personal data to a mystery provider you’ve never heard of.
Even better? It's now $4/month for the privilege. That’s right – they stripped out the feature (meant to be free), outsourced it, slapped a price tag on it, and called it a day. The FAQ section notes that:
• Q/A is 10 times free use
• Watch Face is 20 times free use
And the cherry on top? Some users report even the “trial” doesn’t work. Peak Ximi moment. Also, for the voice recognition feature which later costs 4$/month, you need to speak slowly for better success rates.
Enjoy the ✨AI experience✨ – brought to you by a company that's, not.... Xiaomi.

Nothing Downgrades Phone 3 Display PWM Rating
PWM, known as "pulse width modulation," is a technology used by brands to rapidly turn the display on and off to trick your eyes into thinking the screen's brighter or dimmer. It's this flickering that can cause grueling problems for people who are PWM sensitive. Some people can suffer from eye strain, headaches, dizziness, a sense of vertigo, nausea, and a whole host of other uncomfortable feelings.
When Nothing Phone 3 was announced, its specifications page mentioned that the phone features 2160Hz PWM rating. The higher the PWM rating, the lesser is the flickering at low brightness and the better it is for your eyes.
Now, a Nothing spokesperson confirmed to Android Central that the retail software release of the Phone 3 features a PWM rate change. The company states the device's rate has changed from 2,160Hz to 960Hz to improve its screen's picture quality at low brightness.
What more funny is that, Nothing is actually scared as it will affect their sales. Thus, Nothing have not written any mention 960Hz PWM in phone 3's technical specs page and even removed the 2160Hz PWM parameter on that page. So, this change was only announced to the reviewers instead of the general public.

BREAKING: EU age verification app to ban any Android system not licensed by Google
Reddit
The EU is currently developing a whitelabel app to perform privacy-preserving (at least in theory) age verification to be adopted and personalized in the coming months by member states. The app is open source and available here: https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-app-android-wallet-ui.
Problem is, the app is planning to include remote attestation feature to verify the integrity of the app: https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-app-android-wallet-ui?tab=readme-ov-file#disclaimer. This is supposed to provide assurance to the age verification service that the app being used is authentic and running on a genuine operating system. Genuine in the case of Android means:
• The operating system was licensed by Google
• The app was downloaded from the Play Store (thus requiring a Google account)
• Device security checks have passed
While there is value to verify device security, this strongly ties the app to many Google properties and services, because those checks won't pass on an aftermarket Android OS, even those which increase security significantly like GrapheneOS, because the app plans to use Google "Play Integrity", which only allows Google licensed systems instead of the standard Android attestation feature to verify systems.
This also means that even though you can compile the app, you won't be able to use it, because it won't come from the Play Store and thus the age verification service will reject it.
The issue has been raised here https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-app-android-wallet-ui/issues/10 but no response from team members as of now.
In short: You can only be a full citizen of the EU if you accept the ToS from Google.

Xiaomi Downgrade Appointments Turning Into Sprint Practice
In China, Xiaomi made bootloader unlock requirements so ridiculous that users are now booking downgrade appointments, waiting for the technician to flash firmware, and then grabbing their phones mid-process and running out the door – sometimes literally on electric scooters.
Why? Because once it’s flashed and before it relocks, the bootloader is temporarily open – and that's the only chance to escape Xiaomi’s UBL prison without having Level 5 community status, quiz passes, and a handshake from Lei Jun himself.
Most of them brick the phone after anyway. But hey, freedom.
Also, A Dude bought a Xiaomi 14 not knowing bootloader unlock is locked behind quizzes, high community level, and limited slots.
He booked a downgrade at service, waited for the BL to be temporarily open mid-flash – then snatched his phone, said “sorry,” and ran out.
Electric scooter was parked outside 💀

BREAKING: Samsung has removed Bootloader Unlocking Option with OneUI 8 builds
It's sad but the truth is that Samsung has removed the bootloader unlocking option on OneUI 8 builds, on both stable and beta builds.
Additionally, OneUI 8 internal firmware for Galaxy S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra relock your bootloader if it's unlocked.
I asked my friends for confirmation and they confirmed that the bootloader unlocking option is indeed gone from all OneUI 8 builds of any device, be it S25, S25 Ultra, Z Fold etc.

Here's What Coming With The Google Pixel 10 Series
Google has officially revealed the design of the Pixel 10 series which will be same as that of Pixel 9 series but it will be a bit heavier. Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL will weigh 204g, 207g and 232g respectively, which is up from 198g (P9), 199g (P9p) and 221g (P9p XL). Although its the same design, but there will be new colors.
Pixel 10: Obsidian, Indigo, Frost & Limoncello
Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL: Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone & Jade
Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Moonstone and Jade
The biggest update of the Pixel 10 series is the processor as the Tensor G5 will be manufactured by TSMC and will feature a IMG PowerVR GPU, specifically DXT 48-1536 GPU with 2CU. Modem will remain the same i.e Samsung Exynos 5400, but it could be a newer revision. Also, the Tensor G5 will have a fully custom ISP developed entirely by Google.
For the display, the screen will be 200~250nits brighter than the Pixel 9 series. The HDR brightness will be 2000nits (P10), 2250nits (P10p & 10p XL) and 1850nits (P10p Fold). Google is also upgrading the Display Dimming this time & it rumoured to feature 480Hz PWM Dimming at 120Hz refresh rate. Also, the display will support "Adaptive Tone" feature — dynamically adapts the display to warmer or cooler tones based on the ambient lightning. Basically, the ambient EQ feature of the Pixel 4 is coming back.
Camera will remain the same as the 9 Series except for the Pixel 10. Thus, Pixel 10 Pro & 10 Pro XL will get 50MP main (GNV, OIS) + 48MP Ultrawide (GM5) + 48MP Telephoto (GM5, OIS). Pixel 10 will feature a Telephoto sensor this time but at the cost of the main sensor as it will be a downgrade. Pixel 10 will get 50MP main GN8 sensor, the same used in Pixel 9a while the Pixel 9 has a GNV sensor. Telephoto will be 12MP Samsung 3J1.
One nice upgrade to camera this time is the addition of "Rear Telephoto Macro" photography across all pixel 10 models.
Pixel 10 will once again lack vapor chamber while Pixel 10 Pro & XL will feature bigger VC than Pixel 9 Pro/XL. Only Pixel 10 Pro XL will start at 256GB storage while Pixel 10 & 10 Pro will start from 128GB as usual. Pixel 10 Pro XL will have the biggest battery at 5200mAh (39W wired charging), followed by Pixel 10 at 4970mAh, Pixel 10 Pro at 4870mAh (29W wired) and Pixel 10 Pro Fold will have 5015mAh. Also, all models will support 15W wireless charging.
Pixel 10 series notes “Qi2 Wireless Charging” support, and others detailing a new “Pixelsnap” ecosystem of accessories that leverages magnets. “Pixelsnap” is said to include a “Charger,” “Ring Stand,” and “Charger with Stand.” Google’s official cases this year will have built-in magnets but its still unknown if the phones themselves will have magnets built in for Qi2 or it will be just "Qi2 ready" like the OnePlus 13 or Galaxy smartphones.

Microsoft has introduced Copilot Appearance, a real-time interactive virtual character that represents the Copilot assistant. This character can display emotional responses such as smiling, nodding, or showing surprise during conversations. The attached image shows emotion samples.
Microsoft invents the concept of "digital patina," where digital entities accumulate subtle signs of use and time, similar to physical objects. The addition of such characteristics into Copilot will create a sense of presence and history.

Xiaomi India’s PR & Marketing Director Is Just as Delulu as Xiaomi Fans
Recently, on Twitter, a few users started talking about Xiaomi’s lack of new launches, for example no news of Xiaomi 15 Civi launch date in India yet and how the brand has been slacking in general. One guy even made a whole thread explaining why Xiaomi India is failing, pointing out issues like keeping better models China exclusive, awful after sales, midrangers like Redmi series offer inferior specs compared to competition, and so on. Others joined in, sharing their own thoughts and experiences, eventually making it a constructive criticism, not just random hate.
Now, Xiaomi India’s Associate Director of Marketing and PR responded, saying it must be a “coincidence” that every year around Xiaomi’s anniversary, people start posting negative things about the brand. He admitted that Xiaomi needs to improve, but he also claimed that some of the criticism seemed biased, calling it a "group work" — as if the users were all working together to bring the brand down. It honestly felt like he was deflecting the blame, saying the criticism wasn’t genuine but part of some coordinated attack. The truth is, people aren’t complaining because of Xiaomi’s anniversary as no one cares about it. They’re frustrated because of real issues the brand has been ignoring for a while.

PNG gets an update for the first time in 22 years
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) introduced the initial specifications for the PNG file format in 1996, with the group formalizing the 2003 standard in 2004. Now after 2 decades, W3C has released an update to PNG in 2025. The 3rd edition of the PNG specification introduces 3 new features:
• High Dynamic Range (HDR) images support and it uses only 4 bytes
• Animation through Animated PNGs (APNGs)
• Exif data storage
The W3C Timed Text Working Group that works on timed text like captions, subtitles, audio descriptions etc. needed HDR support in PNG. A proposal was made, but a few experts decided we could do better. Momentum built, and additional parties became interested. Thus we had representation from (in alphabetical order) Adobe, Apple, BBC, Comcast / NBCUniversal, Google, MovieLabs, and of course W3C, who maintains the spec. Many of the programs you use already support the new PNG spec: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, iOS/macOS, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer etc.
Aside from these, there are already a couple of planned updates for future releases — the first one is aiming to improve the way the format handles HDR and Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) interoperability, while the second one is aiming to improve its compression ability.
