It’s very intense and makes me feel as if the show resonates deep with many things inside me. The ending left me kind of shocked. The complete series

Looking for a specific Bellarke fanfic

So this is quite niche, but like a few years back I read this fan fiction and it was basically a few of the 100 get kidnapped by some grounders, and like they are put in a cage or something like that. Bellamy and Clark are taken separately by the same grounders as well. The grounder leader is a guy. But then I don’t remember what happened in between but like eventually something happens in that grounder community and then Clark offers her help and then Bellamy andClark basically help the grounders. I don’t even remember if the story was finished or not.

I would appreciate it if someone has read anything similar or knows this particular fanfic.

If The 100 prequel (Second Dawn) had happened, it should have been a limited series (1–2 seasons max)

With hindsight, especially considering how divisive the later seasons of The 100 became, I genuinely think that if The 100: Second Dawn had moved forward, it would have worked much better as a limited series rather than a long-running show.

Here’s why:

1. The story naturally has a clear ending
A prequel about:

- The rise of Bill Cadogan

- The formation of the bunker

- The cult’s development

- The political collapse

- The nuclear apocalypse

… already has a built-in conclusion: the bombs fall.

That kind of story doesn’t need 5+ seasons.
It’s a contained arc with a known destination.
Stretching it too long would likely require filler plots, artificial extensions, or unnecessary mythological escalation.

2. Modern live-action works better in shorter formats

In today’s TV landscape, especially with streaming:

- 8–10 episodes per season

- 1 or 2 seasons max

- Tightly written, focused arcs

Tend to work better than long network-style runs.

Limited series avoid narrative fatigue and escalation problems.
They also preserve thematic coherence.

3. The main series struggled with escalation
One of the recurring criticisms of The 100 is that it kept escalating:

- local survival

- Tribal war

- AI control

- Global apocalypse

- Planetary migration

- Transcendence

Whether people liked that direction or not, it undeniably shifted the show’s identity over time.

A prequel would have been an opportunity to return to something grounded and human, political tension, ideological conflict, bunker ethics without needing to “go bigger” each season.

4. A limited format would protect the universe

Instead of risking another multi-season escalation, a 1–2 season arc could have:

- explored the fall of civilization

- shown moral dilemmas in real time

- ended on the apocalypse itself

Clean. Focused. Complete.
No need to overextend it.

I’m not saying the prequel shouldn’t have existed.

I’m saying that, if it had, it probably would have benefited from being designed as a contained story rather than an open-ended franchise extension.

Curious what others think, would you have preferred a limited, tightly written prequel, or a full multi-season run?

The character arcs in this show are incredible

I really love this show. Definitely in my top 10 all time and probably watched it all the way through at least 6 times. The production quality is definitely CW level and the characters are so consistently frustrating…but damn the character arcs are probably the most satisfying I’ve seen in any show. There are better character arcs out there, but I’m saying across all of the main cast basically every arc is great. The story arc of the whole show dating back to before the bombs is also great (even if it got a little out there toward the end lol). Beautiful show and very underrated.

Did anyone notice any sign of dialects or accents in each clan's Trigedasleng?

I've seen the show twice and never thought to pay attention to this, but I'm going to on my next watchthrough.

In the meantime, did anyone else notice any dialects or accents in the different clans? Such as how there's American English, Australian English, British English, etc.

Did, say, Queen Nia speak differently than Indra? Either in pronunciation of the words, or perhaps did the Ice Nation grounders use certain Trig terms that Trikru did not ever use, and vice versa?

Someone is accurately listing all the bad things your favorite character has done, and concludes they're a terrible person. How do you defend them?

I'll go first: Murphy only ever did what he did to survive. He only took pleasure in hurting others when they had unjustly hurt him first, and he learned to apologize and compensate when he knew he did wrong by someone (ex. Raven. He apologized for taking the use of her leg, and stayed with her on the convicts' ship). And by the end, his love for Emori helped him grow up; he became a person that even a child feels safe around. He was able to comfort Madi out of a panic attack -- could a terrible person do that? 😭💖

Good replacement show - Continuum

A very common question in this sub (one I asked myself years ago) was "what are some similar shows to the 100?".

I would suggest the show Continuum. It's on Amazon prime in Canada right now. It's not as gritty or brutal as the 100, but it's a compelling storyline that resembles the 100 in terms of cliffhanger episodes and continuing storyline, with some time travel and futuristic concepts. It's got Murphy, which is a nice familiarity.

To each their own, but for me personally, this is the best recommendation for a replacement for The 100

Upon rewatching...

The age gaps in some of these relationships is wild. Bellamy is like 23 yet actively kisses and (assumingly) has sex with a teenager from the ship. Octavia is 17 and Lincoln is like mid 20s. Just weird choices from the writers here.

This ruined THE 100 for me, an otherwise a good show indeed.

I genuinely think The 100 is a good show overall. Yes, it suffers from viewer fatigue, it’s constant war after war, with Clarke and the group facing one existential threat after another. By Season 4, that cycle started to feel exhausting.

But I kept watching because of the characters. Their development, relationships, and moral struggles were what carried the show for me.

Then S7E13 happened.

Bellamy’s death completely ruined it for me. Not just because he died , but because of how it was handled. Clarke shoots him to protect the sketchbook… and then doesn’t even take it. That makes his death feel pointless. There’s no payoff. No real narrative weight. It felt rushed and unnecessary.

Bellamy deserved a meaningful ending, whether that meant redemption, sacrifice, or even a tragic but well-earned death. Instead, it felt abrupt and hollow. Even after everything in the cave and his spiritual shift, his character arc didn’t feel respected.

For a show that built so much of its emotional core around Clarke and Bellamy, this ending just didn’t do justice to either of them.

Am I missing something

I’m trying to get into this show (it’s right up my alley) but I can’t get past the glaring writing issue that ALIE is dumb. Her core programming is that she wants to make life better for humans and believes the biggest issue for the human race is over-population. The problem is the solution she comes up with isn’t a solution at all even from a practical mindset, I understand she doesn’t get the moral implications of nuking the planet to solve over-population but even from an efficient and practical mindset this solution is horrible.

Not only does it risk killing everyone, from what I know she didnt make countermeasures to ensure that a select population survives and got lucky that some did, it also destroys the resources making them scarcer and just as hard to survive as it would with overpopulation.

If she killed like 3 billion humans in a more controlled fashion I could get behind it but logically her solution makes no sense especially coming from an AI which is supposed to have being too efficient and practical as a character flaw

If you ask me, I would go with Jesper. His character was so well writen and got a very sad but good ending. He really felt the weight after loosing Maya. Not even the intense relationship with Monty helped.

If they could change any plot points from the first 4 seasons...

The end of the world in season four didn't quite do it for me; I love that season with all my heart, but I didn't like the idea of ​​the end of the world (again). I feel like it was a very rushed ending. I would have liked Luna and Roan to have survived; those characters had so much potential.

I also would have liked Niylah to have had a more genuine romance with Clarke (I understand that Lexa was the love of her life, but she deserved something). I would have liked to see more of Roan with Clarke, coming up with some more daring ideas. I don't know, they could have changed the format to something other than the search for human survival. Something calmer, more political. But oh well, that's how it is. And I have to love it anyway.

Would Murphy actually do what he did in S7

Murphys whole arc in season 7, and 6 was avoiding hell. After being given JUST THAT when everyone (but Clarke) ascended.

Do you think it seems like something he would actually do?

Yeah his friends are going back to Clarke and he’s a better man, better friend and everything. But would he? Risk eternal damnation for a couple decades with his friends? If others were going to be with Clarke he could stay and know he wouldn’t be alone… blah blah blah
