General Theodore Roosevelt Jr. landed with the first wave on Utah Beach at age 56, the oldest man in the invasion & the only general to storm ashore that day. Despite a cane, heart issues, & landing off-target, he rallied his men: “We’ll start the war from right here!”🪖
His son, Capt. Quentin Roosevelt II, hit Omaha Beach in the first wave. 🪖
The only father-son duo to land together on Normandy’s beaches. True American grit. 🇺🇸
