CALL FOR ACTION
On 26 April the Campaign "We are all YPJ! Self-defense is our natural right" was launched. Since then messages from women all over the world have reached us, expressing their support for YPJ.
There are several ways to support the campaign in order to ensure the existence of YPJ.
Take a look at:

and take action.
We are all YPJ
Somali writer and activist Leila Jama sends a message of ongoing support to the Women’s Protection Units.
We remember Zilan Kobane, from the city of Kobane. As a Kurdish woman, Comrade Zilan Kobani found her identity within the ranks of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). She firmly believed that society cannot be free unless women are liberated. Her struggle against occupation was also a revolution against the patriarchal mindset that sought to break women’s will.
On April 20, 2026 Comrade Zilan Kobani joined the ranks of the immortal after a military incident.
We bow our head in front of her struggle and remember her with great respect.
To all voices and messages that have expressed their support and appreciation for women’s struggle against extremism:
We express our profound gratitude for every sincere word of solidarity that has accompanied our journey, and for every stance that has recognized the depth of the experience we have undergone in defending humanity, land, and dignity.
Our experience in the Women’s Protection Units has not been a conventional choice; rather, it has been a response to a harsh reality imposed by difficult circumstances, in which women found themselves compelled to stand at the heart of the defense equation, not at its margins. We have carried this responsibility to protect life and our communities’ right to exist freely and safely, in the face of forces that sought to strip human beings of their humanity and identity.
We affirm that our struggle has never been for war; rather, it has always been—and will continue to be—for the protection of life and for opening the path toward a just peace. The weapon we carried was a last resort, but our ultimate goal is to build a democratic society founded on equality and justice, in which women are full partners in decision-making. We firmly believe that all peoples, regardless of their ethnicity or culture, are equal in dignity and rights, and that diversity is not a threat but a human value that enriches societies and strengthens their unity. Without respecting and protecting this diversity, no genuine peace project can succeed.
We also stress the necessity of safeguarding freedom of belief and the dignity of religions without discrimination or exclusion. Coexistence among different religions is the foundation of social stability, and any violation of this principle constitutes an assault on all humanity. We strive for a future in which all beliefs are respected and in which individuals are treated according to their humanity, not their affiliations.
We regard every message of support as a continuation of this struggle, and we believe that the strength of women lies not only in their ability to confront challenges, but also in their capacity to rebuild society and break cycles of violence. With regard to the future of our role, we emphasize that any step toward stability must ensure recognition of our experience, preserve the achievements made possible through the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs, and guarantee the effective participation of women in all institutions of defense and decision-making, within a framework that ensures justice and safeguards the dignity of all.
We continue our struggle—not for war, but to end it; not for power in itself, but for a free and safe life for all peoples.
Glory to freedom
Glory to women
Peace to our peoples

If YPJ is integrated into the new Syrian army, it would lead to significant changes
Under the agreement of 29 January, Rojava’s civilian structures and military forces are to be integrated into the Syrian state. So far, the YPJ has not been part of this integration. YPJ spokesperson Ruksen Mohammed discusses what this means and the dangers it poses. She also highlights the obstacles standing in the way of a successful agreement, emphasises global solidarity and makes it clear that no positive outcome can be achieved without the participation of YPJ or women in general.

Newroz celebrations
Newroz is a celebration of spring, fire and resistance. It is the story of the blacksmith Kawa’s struggle against the oppressors. It is the story of a rebellion against tyranny. And just as the flame marked victory, so too will the flame of the YPJ never be extinguished.
Statement to the Public and Our People
In recent days, and within the framework of psychological warfare and disinformation campaigns, false reports and malicious allegations have been circulated on social media regarding the killing of an individual named Alaa al-Din al-Amin. These attacks directly target our social system and the achievements of the revolution.
We officially declare that our units and members have no connection whatsoever to this incident. The accusations directed at our military forces are baseless and represent deliberate attempts to undermine trust between the people and our forces.
The targeting of our commander, Destina Kobani, constitutes an attack on the will of women and the dignity of resistance. We affirm that our comrade has absolutely no involvement in this incident.
We call on our society to remain vigilant in...

Despite the release of some fighters a few days ago, hundreds of people remain in the hands of the transitional government
The commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, met with a committee representing the families of prisoners and missing persons and emphasised that the issue of prisoners and missing persons in the recent fighting is of central importance to the integration process under the agreement of 29 January.
Mazloum Abdi said he had been officially informed that 1,070 prisoners, including civilians and military personnel, were being held in Syrian prisons, stressing that this issue was a top priority in terms of follow-up and action to be taken and that there could be no compromise under any circumstances.
🔴 emphasising that the experience of YPJ represents a profound shift in the role of women, from being affected by conflict to taking action to redefine the concepts of protection and participation.
🔴criticising the transitional government’s refusal to recognise the role of women within defence institutions, arguing that this reflects a systematic exclusion that does not negate the fact that the presence of women in protection roles is a fundamental necessity, not a marginal option.
🔴noting that what the Women’s Protection Units have achieved is a genuine model based on awareness and organisation, which requires protection and development, not marginalisation or abolition, particularly given the risks of women’s roles being diminished during transitional phases.
🔴making it clear that support for the Women’s Protection Units would not be merely symbolic, but would translate into campaigns and platforms to advocate for their right to continue, emphasising that their presence is a cornerstone of any future that seeks justice and stability.
On the occasion of first of May, the international workers day, we as YPJ Information Center congratulate and honour all workers, men and women, who are fighting and have fought for a just system free from exploitation.

To Our People and Public Opinion
On the occasion of the arrival of the spring of peoples, we extend our greetings on Newroz, the symbol of rebirth and revolution, as well as on the blessed month of Ramadan—especially to Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the families of the martyrs, and our resilient people.
History bears witness that Newroz is not merely a celebration of the coming of spring, but a revolution against the oppression of Dehak. Just as Kawa the Blacksmith dispelled the darkness of his time with the spark of Newroz, heralding a new dawn for humanity, today we, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), continue our tireless struggle to defend the legacy of resistance against the mentality of modern-day Dehaks in the twenty-first century...
Happy Newroz!
Ramadan Kareem!
Long live women’s resistance!

"Women, whether at home, in the movement, or at the front lines, we have learned that we must always fight to gain our rights" - YPJ Commander Sarya Afrin
Impressions from the women's conference that was held on 17th of March 2026.
He was a dedicated and self-sacrificing person, striving for a free life from the early years of the Kurdish freedom struggle on until his last breath. He took part in the struggle for freedom alongside his family and, with his scholarly and principled political character, held a highly esteemed position within his community. He possessed a high level of expertise in political and social affairs. He had extensive insights and analyses of the region's politics. Salih Muslim had built his personality on the ideas and philosophy of Apoism. Especially in recent times, despite his health condition, he never stopped working for the freedom of his people, always remaining among his community. He stood up for the duty of a free person in all circumstances and never compromised on his people's freedom. During the Rojava Revolution, he held significant roles; Salih Muslim was a politician, a patriot, and the father of a martyr and fighters. Salih Muslim, with his entire being, was the voice of his people's truth.
The courage and steadfastness of Salih Muslim, in obtaining democracy and freedom for our people, will serve as the benchmark for the struggle for a free and dignified life. In the face of women's quest for freedom, he demonstrated his respect for life through his steadfastness and became a true comrade of women. For this reason, as the Women's Protection Units, it is our primary duty to realize the martyrs' dreams through the person of the fighter Salih Muslim. We will keep the life and struggle of Salih Muslim alive in our hearts and minds forever.

In her way of life, she was extremely natural and humble.
Hêzil Arjîn was martyred on January 21 while confronting armed groups in Raqqa. In both her life and struggle, she was a worthy successor to the martyrs. As protection forces, we affirm that we will continue walking in the footsteps of our martyrs
Yesterday, she and six other fighters were laid to rest in Qamishlo.
