The budget needs to do something big like drastic cut in STT or reduction in capital gains tax to restore the confidence and faith of retail investors in the Indian markets. As such the increase in capital gains tax was of no use as the markets did not give any gain to investors. It did more damage by wiping off lakhs of crores in market capitalisation. Just see the other global markets which are at all time highs and our markets below 200 EMA.

Last 4 months have been tough for retail investors and traders and government needs to realise this. The urban middle class is feeling the pain in portfolio and some of whom I have talked with are on the verge of depression.

THE PAIN IS REAL AND GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO ACT ON 1st FEB.

Good Morning

US markets closed at life highs yesterday after Trump statement that he wants lower interest rates. Whether Fed obliges or not is a question mark as Fed is independent of the govt in US and Jerome Powell has clearly reiterated in his last speech that his focus will be on inflation. Next week 28-29 Jan we have Fed meeting so it will be interesting to see his response.

Our markets continue to slowly nudge up inspite of FII selling in cash markets. This is due to the short covering by FII in stock and index futures. Today support will come at 23150 and resistance at 23280. Above 23280 we can see 23350 and 23400.

Bank Nifty is weak and show no signs of moving up. Bank results are weak. Bank Nifty needs to clear 48700 zone to move towards 49000 and 49200. The big support for the week is 48000 which is expected to hold till expiry.

Till budget day each day will be a different trend. We saw on last Friday it was bearish and nifty created low near 23100 then on Monday it became bullish and went till 23400 then on Tuesday it again became bearish fell almost till 23020.
Yesterday first half it was bearish fell till 23980 and then rallied in 2nd half and closed at high 23150. And today again bullish.

Trend catching is getting difficult for trend traders till budget.
