Dear friends,
Hi there. Been awhile. I apologize for my absence.
I feel that an explanation is owed, particularly to those who have reached out, and that offering one will provide some degree of catharsis for me. So here is my candid propitiation.
It was a necessary sabbatical, albeit not quite the outright reprieve from struggles and stressors that I was desiring and perhaps am still in some need of.
I've gotten many messages asking where and how I am. Kind messages that remind me to not stay inside my shell for too long, that I am not alone, and that when I am gone, I am missed. Those kind messages mean more to me than I can articulate here. Thank you. Long-time readers and listeners will recall that I have wrestled with addiction, depression, and various other ailments of the body and of the soul. I found myself battling those things again recently. Depression specifically.
I was on the edge of that dark abyss in October, pushed there by various frustrations, miasmic thoughts, and just generally allowing myself to wonder towards a depressed space. Much to my regret, this came through in my on-stream appearances and in my posting.
Some close friends suggested to me that perhaps I should take a break. I ought to have taken them up on that. I did not, and so nature intervened.
For the past two weeks, I've been sick off and on with a head or chest cold. My wife and kids, too. We just can't quite overcome it. Worse, though, one of our puppies ate something, which caused him to get critically ill. We nearly lost him. He's currently hospitalized, but we are hoping to have him home today. Given the unhealthy, out-of-balance mental state I was in leading up to this, I tumbled into depression, the real cause of my absence, and am crawling out of that pit now.
So that's where I have been. It's a familiar place to me, unfortunately, in most respects but not all. I'm actually thankful for the battle because the weapons or tools that I have equipped myself with in order to avoid and, when needed, escape depression serve me well in many areas.
Those tools are cognitive calibration through stoicism, therapy through meaningful music, sanctuary in the love of family and friends, and the foundational understanding that there is a God and that He has gifted us an existence as well as purposed us for this time, this era.
From time to time I forget where I've placed those tools and have to go searching for them.

Layton's a newly-arrived voice and the most recent detransitioner to file suits against the doctors who used gender affirmation for profit and as a sham cure to her mental health issues.
And while she's relatively new to the public scene, Layton's been dealing with the aftermath of detransitioning for quite a while and came forward because she's got some things to say about both her experiences and what she's learned, so give her a follow if you're on the X.
Upon her first visit to Rafferty's clinic Thundermist Health Center, she says she expressed an interest in undergoing a double mastectomy, but 'was not certain about taking testosterone out of concern for how that would affect or be received by her (other identities).'ย
Throughout her treatment, it is alleged that she frequently displayed 'red flags' that should have 'put an immediate end to Laytonโs transgender medicalization', including that one of her 'identities' would sabotage her transition by cancelling scheduled appointments and deleting messages from her doctors.

I believe we were told to buckle up on numerous occasions. I believe current events are the reason why.
Everything coming out of the news cycle is depressing and disheartening. Truth is truth, it doesn't care about our feelings. All this needs to come to light. It is our job to guard our emotions and exposure level.
We all need to remind ourselves that there are people fighting hard to right this ship. If that wasn't true, this planet would have been a dead void long ago.
Keep your face to the sun, if you can. This is going to be unpleasant for a while before it gets better.

A pair of Georgia alternative electors charged in President Donald Trump's sweeping racketeering case will have a Sept. 20 hearing over their bid to remove their case to federal court.
U.S. District Judge Steve Jones ordered an evidentiary hearing for Cathleen Latham and David Shafer, who both posed as fake electors and were charged among 17 others (including Trump) as part of Fulton Countyโs criminal investigation.

In response to an enforcement action taken by the Justice Department, the leader of a GOP-led House panel on the pandemic alleges money from the federal COVID-19 relief fund was stolen by and for international criminal organizations and foreign actors.
โSome of these fraudulent actors were based outside the United States and may involve international criminal organizations," Ohio Rep. Brad Wenstrup, chairman of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, said Tuesday in aย letter.
