SEC Green Lights Preliminary Approval of Trio of Ether ETFs
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is stoking the cryptocurrency fire, reportedly granting preliminary approval to three Ether exchange-traded funds (ETF) managers. The approval is conditional and requires applicants to submit the finalizing documents by week's end, according to three well-placed sources, as stated in a Reuters report on July 15. This approval may lead to Ether ETF trading as early as the upcoming Tuesday.
In an interesting twist, all eight Ether ETFs are speculated to make their debut simultaneously. If this sounds familiar, it's because this was the strategy employed during the spot Bitcoin ETFs launch. Bloomberg ETF analyst, Eric Balcunhas, reveals the SEC's instructions for ETF issuers to file their conclusive documents by July 16th.
Bitwise's Chief Compliance Officer, Katherine Dowling, confirms this progress. Her comments indicated a decrease in issues between issuers and the SEC over final filings. If all goes as planned, we can look forward to an exciting Ether-trading Tuesday!
