Ґеорґій Іванович Ґурджієв (бл. 1866–1949) — містик і духовний учитель вірмено-грецького 🇦🇲🇬🇷 походження, автор вчення «Четвертого шляху». Він стверджував, що людина перебуває у стані психологічного автоматизму, а її думки й дії здебільшого неусвідомлені.
На відміну від аскетичних моделей, його підхід передбачав внутрішню працю в умовах звичайного життя. У 1922 році він заснував у Фонтенбло поблизу Парижа Інститут гармонійного розвитку людини, де поєднував психофізичні вправи, музику та дисципліну уваги.
Головна праця — Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson (1950) — написана складною алегоричною мовою й має на меті зруйнувати звичні способи мислення. Практика «Movements» — ритмічні структуровані вправи, створені разом із Томасом де Гартманом, — була спрямована на розвиток розділеної та свідомої уваги.

One evening. After dinner.
Most people, he said, join a ‘school’ because they want to feel special. They want secrets. They want robes or Sanskrit words or incense.
But Gurdjieff hated that.
He said: real work doesn’t happen when you’re comfortable. It happens when you’re annoyed. When you’re questioned. When someone points out—right there, in front of everyone—that you’re faking.
That’s what a school should do.
Expose.
Break.
Rebuild.
But most ‘schools’? They’re happy hour.
Everyone nods. Everyone agrees. And after class—back to sleep.
So his point? If you’re not leaving pissed off… you’re not learning.
The walls only move when you hit ’em.
