Ramon Lull (circa 1232-1316), a key figure in medieval literature, was a multifaceted personality who pursued literature, philosophy, theology, and the natural sciences with passion and skill. His Treatise on Astronomy interprets the art of astrology as an abstract logic wherein delineation is at least partly reduced to a calculus of manipulating and combining letters. By this approach, Lull achieves surprisingly elegant derivations of planetary combinations, and planet/sign combinations, with a specific focus on the nature and order of the elemental triplicities. If different fields of Knowledge are like "Organs" then History is "The Spine" that our Knowledge "Hangs" off of.
Learning History isn't just about finding roots or appreciating those who came before. It's about creating a "Psychic Structure" within us so we can easily recall what we need, when we need it.
If you want to learn a subject the best way to start is by studying its History. Then you know people of interest and who they taught, institutions which have existed may still exist that can aid, and you all-round orient yourself to learn in an excellerated way (and have what you've learnt stick).
Now, Question: How do you find this Rosicrucian Family Tree?
Too chaotic? Some Links are tenuous. There are no dates (I couldn't squeeze them in), It merely shows a rough chronological "flow" and relationship.
It's also woefully incomplete. No Max Heindel, no Amorc, no Martinism, Italian and Eastern European groups are omitted.
Alas, this is only supposed to be a starting point. Something that shows someone the links from the Manifestos to the two most famous organizations. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and The Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), Plus key individuals of significance. Much is lacking.
