Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik’s unexpected court appearance to answer crime charges has been hailed as a victory for the rule of law, but is more likely a canny move aimed at ensuring his political survival.
The surprise development followed three-and-a-half months of a cat-and-mouse game in which Dodik had evaded police agencies in Bosnia’s larger entity, the Bosniak and Croat-dominated Federation.
All 16 police agencies in Bosnia had been ordered to arrest him for: reintroducing laws that obstructed the functioning of the state judiciary and police in Republika Srpska; threatening state judges and prosecutors; establishing parallel judicial and electoral bodies; using the Republika Srpska entity police to block attempts to detain him; illegally crossing the border; and escalating the post-war crisis through overtly secessionist actions.

The Media Office of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Wilayah Pakistan claimed that Pakistan’s rulers are “riding the wave of treachery and normalization,” suggesting they are preparing to follow the example of several Arab states that formalized ties with Israel in recent years.
In its statement, Hizb ut-Tahrir said:

Background
Founded in Jerusalem in 1953 by Taqiuddin al-Nabhani, Hizb ut-Tahrir is a non-violent political party that seeks to establish a global Islamic Caliphate and has historically called for coups in Muslim-majority countries to replace existing governments.
The group has been banned in Pakistan since 2003. Its senior spokesperson in Pakistan, Naveed Butt, was kidnapped by Pakistani authorities in 2012 and has never been seen since.

At least 5 children in southwest Yemen were killed after an explosive device detonated in a residential area where they were playing football, according to rights groups and witnesses.
