A mobile carrier in Britain has developed a neural network that mimics a grandmother’s voice to waste telephone scammers’ time.
This AI-powered tool is essentially scamming the scammers. The company reported that scammers spend up to 40 minutes on each call talking to the “granny,” who shares rambling stories, gives incorrect card information, and feigns confusion. Meanwhile, the scammers struggle to explain what they need her to do, with no success.
As a result, the scammers become visibly frustrated, losing their patience while interacting with the AI.

🚨 NVIDIA, SoftBank Collaborate on Japan's Most Powerful AI Supercomputer and AI-5G Integration
🔹 NVIDIA and SoftBank have partnered to boost AI and 5G in Japan, starting with NVIDIA’s Blackwell platform and moving to the Grace Blackwell platform. SoftBank’s new supercomputer, tested with NVIDIA AI Aerial, promises $5 in AI inference revenue for every $1 in capital investment.

🚨 Ilya Sutskever: the era of simply scaling AI has come to an end
He said that the results from scaling pre-training of AI models have reached a plateau.
“Now we are back in the era of miracles and discoveries. Everyone is looking for something new,” said Ilya Sutskever.
Sutskever declined to share more details about how his team is solving this problem, only mentioning that SSI is working on an alternative approach to scaling pre-training.

🚨 AI surgery helps this legally blind woman regain 20/16 eyesight, here’s how
🔹 A 31-year-old Portuguese woman, who was declared legally blind, now has better than 20/20 vision, thanks to AI. She became the first person in the UK to undergo a revolutionary AI-powered laser eye surgery. Patrícia Gonçalves underwent the new Lasik procedure at Focus Clinics in London Post the surgery her eyesight was restored to a remarkable 20/16 visual acuity.
🔹 Patricia was legally blind without glasses owing to astigmatism and myopia. Her vision was worse than 20/200 which means that she couldn’t even read the largest “E” on an eye chart. Hence, her lasik procedure involved creating a “digital clone” of her eyes, which allowed an AI program to simulate thousands of laser adjustments to determine the best approach for her specific needs. The surgery was performed under the supervision of chief surgeon David Allamby.
🔹 After the procedure, she achieved a 20/16 vision. This is even better than the standard 20/20, which represents normal clarity at a distance of 20 feet. Speaking about the same, Dr Allamby said, “Her best vision pre-op was with glasses at 20/200. Today, she sees better at 20/16, gaining an extra line down the test chart.”
🔹 This life-changing technology is called “Eyevatar”. It has been used in China and Australia and is now available in the UK. This technology creates a high-precision eye map in just 10 minutes. This then allows an AI to replicate up to 2,000 laser beams to improve accuracy.

🚨 YouTube is testing music remixes made by AI
🟦 YouTube is currently testing a new feature called "Dream Track" that allows a select group of creators to use AI to modify licensed music for their YouTube Shorts. This feature lets creators "restyle" existing songs, meaning they can change the mood or genre of a 30-second clip to better fit their short video.
🟦 Creators in the experiment group can choose a song from a pool of eligible tracks. They can then describe how they want to modify the song, such as making it sound more upbeat or switching it to a different genre. Dream Track, powered by AI, will then generate a new 30-second soundtrack based on the creator's preferences.
🟦 These remixed tracks will still clearly credit the original song, both within the Short itself and on the Shorts audio library page. It will also be indicated that the track was reworked using AI. While details on the specific songs and music labels involved in this test are not yet available, a previous report from the Financial Times suggests YouTube has been in talks with major labels about using their music to train its AI models.
