HOW TO SEEK THE HOUR OF RESPONSE ON FRIDAY
Jabir ibn Abdullāh (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said: "Friday is twelve hours, in which there is no Muslim who asks ALLĀH for something but HE will grant him it, so seek it in the last hour after 'Asr."
📚 Abū Dāwud #1048 and An-Nasa'i #1389
The scholars have mentioned several ways to seek the time when supplications are answered after 'Asr on Friday which can be summarized as follows:
1⃣. Remaining in the mosque after 'Asr prayer and not leaving it, and offering supplication. That is especially important in the last hour after 'Asr, and this is the highest in status. When Said ibn Jubayr had prayed 'Asr, he would not speak to anyone until the sun set.
2⃣. Going to the mosque some time before Maghrib, then praying two Rakahs to greet the mosque (Tahiyyat Al-masjid ) and offering supplication until the last hour of Asr time. This is medium in status.
3⃣. Sitting in some place – in his house or elsewhere – calling upon his Lord, may HE be Exalted, during the last hour of 'Asr time. This is the lowest in status.
Shaykh ibn Bāz (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said, in response to the one who asked regarding how catch up with the hour of response on Friday,
"What appears to be the case is that the Hadiths are general in meaning, and that if someone offers supplication during the 'time of response', there is the hope that his supplication will be answered in the last hour of Friday. There is the hope that his supplication will be answered, but if he is waiting for the prayer in the mosque in which he intends to pray Maghrib, the hope is greater, because the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "and he stands and prays" – narrated by Al-Bukhari – and the one who is waiting for the prayer is like one who is praying. If he is in a state of prayer, there is greater hope of receiving a response, because the one who is waiting for the prayer is like one who is praying. But if he is sick and he does that in his house, there is nothing wrong with that, or if a woman is in her house and she sits waiting to pray Maghrib in her prayer place, or the sick person sits in his prayer place and offer supplication in the afternoon of Friday, there is the hope of a response. This is what is prescribed, if someone wants to offer supplication, he may go early to the mosque in which he intends to pray Maghrib and sit, waiting for the prayer and offering supplication."

WOLVES IN SHEEPS' CLOTHING
It is reported that Abūl-'Āliyah (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"There will come upon the people a time when their hearts will be derelict of the Qur'ān; they will find neither sweetness nor pleasure by it. If they fall short of doing what they have been commanded to do, they will say: ALLĀH is most forgiving, merciful ˹HE will forgive us˺, and if they do what they have been forbidden from doing, they will say: we will be forgiven, we haven’t committed any shirk with ALLĀH. Their affairs will all be based on ˹false˺ hope, having no truth and sincerity with it. They will wear the skins of lambs over hearts of wolves. The best of them in his religion will be someone who compromises."

THREE TYPES OF SLEEP
Abdullāh ibn Al-'Amr ibn Al-'Āṣ (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"There are three types of sleep: the incompetent's sleep, proper sleep, and stupid sleep.
● As for the incompetent's sleep, it is to sleep in the morning after sunrise (ḍuḥā time), when people are going about their needs (work), he is sleeping.
● As for the proper sleep, it is the midday nap (qaylūlah).
● And as for the stupid sleep, it is to sleep when it is time to pray.

THE REALITY OF DHIKR AND FEAR OF ALLĀH
It is reported that Sa'īd ibn Jubayr (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"Verily, fear (al-khashyah) is that you fear ALLĀH such that your fear comes between you and your disobedience ˹of ALLĀH˺. That is khashyah. And dhikr (remembrance of ALLĀH) is obedience to ALLĀH; whoever obeys ALLĀH has remembered HIM; and whoever does not obey HIM is not a rememberer of HIM, even if he says a lot of tasbīḥ and recites a lot of Qurān."

THE SUPERIORITY OF FRIDAY
Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) mentioned:
"It (Friday) is the day that is recommended for one to devote entirely to worship. It has an excellence over all other days due to the various obligatory and voluntary acts of worship performed in it. ALLĀH, Exalted be HE, has made for the people of every religion a day on which they dedicate themselves to worship and disengage from worldly affairs.
Friday is a day of worship, and among the days it is like Ramadān among the months; and the hour of response in it is like Laylatul-Qadr in Ramadān.
Thus, whoever's Friday is sound and safe, the rest of his week will be sound and safe. Whoever's Ramadān is sound and safe, the rest of his year will be sound and safe. And whoever's Hajj is sound and safe, the rest of his life will be sound and safe.
Friday is the balance of the week, Ramadān is the balance of the year, and Hajj is the balance of one's lifetime. And success is from ALLĀH Alone."

It is ALLĀH who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, ALLĀH is the possessor of bounty for the people, but most of them are not grateful.
That is ALLĀH, your Lord, Creator of all things; there is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except HIM, so how are you deluded?

TIME OF THE HOUR OF RESPONSE ON FRIDAY
Ibn al-Qayyim (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"In my view, the hour of the ˹Jumu'ah˺ prayer (salah) is also an hour in which there is the hope that supplications will be answered. Both of them (during Jumu'ah prayer and after 'Asr) are times when there is the hope of response, even though the specific hour in that regard is the last hour after 'Asr, because it is a specific hour of the day and cannot be brought forward or put back. As for the hour of the prayer, it is connected to the prayer, whether the prayer is brought forward or delayed, because the gathering of the Muslims, their prayer, and their beseeching and supplicating ALLĀH, may HE be Exalted, all have an impact in bringing a response, so the hour of their gathering is an hour in which there is the hope that their supplications will be answered.
All the Hadiths are agreed on that, and the Prophet (ﷺ) urged his Ummah to offer supplication and beseech ALLĀH, may HE be Exalted, at these two times."

Shaykh bin ‘Uthaymīn (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"A woman needs first and foremost to be righteous herself, so that she can be a good example for her daughters.
How can a woman become upright? Every woman must realize that only through knowledge can she become upright, and here I am referring to religious knowledge that she can learn from books — if that is possible for her — or from the tongues of scholars, regardless of whether those scholars are men or women.
In these times, it has become very easy for women to learn knowledge directly from the mouths of scholars through audio cassettes, for Islamic audio cassettes -alhamdulillah — now represent an important means of enlightening and educating society.
Hence, a woman needs knowledge to become upright, for there is no such thing as uprightness without knowledge.

Question: "Fadīlatu Shaykh, washing of hands ˹during ablution˺ to the elbow, where should it (i.e the washing) start from and what is the ruling regarding the one who begins washing of hands from the wrist to the elbow?"
Response of Shaykh al-Fawzān: "Washing of hands ˹during ablution˺ should begin from the tip of the fingers up to the elbow because fingers are included in the hands. As for washing of hands ˹to wrist˺ at the start of ablution, it is from the Sunnah and not part of the ˹obligatory aspect of˺ ablution."
Summary: While performing ablution, washing of hands after washing the face, should begin from the tip of the finger up to the elbow and not from the wrist to the elbow as most people do.

THE UNIQUENESS OF THE JUMU'AH PRAYER
Ibn al-Qayyim (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"Jumu'ah prayer is singled out from among all the other obligatory prayers for having particular characteristics that are not found in other prayers, including the fact that it is offered in congregation, has a minimum number of worshippers required in order for it to be valid, the iqamah is a condition of its being valid, one must not be travelling in order for it to be obligatory, and the recitation is done out loud.
There is an emphasis on its importance the like of which is not mentioned for other prayers except 'Asr prayer. In the four Sunans it is narrated in the hadith of Abu'l-Ja'd ad-Dumari – who was a Companion – that the Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever misses three Jumu'ahs out of heedlessness, ALLĀH will place a seal on his heart.'"

Abu al-Ahwas reported: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may ALLĀH be pleased with him, said,
"Whoever would be pleased to meet ALLĀH tomorrow as a Muslim, let him guard over these prayers when they are announced. Verily, ALLĀH has instituted for HIS Prophet (ﷺ) practices of guidance, for they are indeed practices of guidance. If you were to pray in your houses like one who keeps to his house, you would have abandoned the practice of your Prophet, and if you were to abandon a practice of your Prophet, you have been misguided. No man purifies himself in the best manner and then proceeds to one of these mosques but that ALLĀH records a good deed for every step he takes, raises him by a degree, and erases a sin. We have seen a time when no one leaves it but a hypocrite whose hypocrisy is known, whereas a weak man would come being carried by two men until he was placed within the rows."

"This prohibition is like others; although it was addressed to the Messenger (ﷺ) for a specific reason, it is also applicable to all accountable individuals. ALLĀH forbade the individual to say, concerning matters in the future, “I will definitely do that” without also mentioning the will of ALLĀH. This is so as to avoid falling into error, which is speaking of the unseen future without being certain as to whether he will do it or not, or whether it will happen or not...

VIRTUES AND REWARDS OF ATTENDING CONGREGATIONAL ṢALĀH
Abu Hurairah (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported that: The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said: "The reward for Ṣalāh performed by a person in congregation is more than Twenty-something times greater than that of the Ṣalāh performed in one's house or shop. When one performs Wudu' perfectly and then proceeds to the mosque with the sole intention of performing Ṣalāh, then for every step he takes towards the mosque, he is upgraded one degree in reward and one of his sins is eliminated until he enters the mosque, and when he enters the mosque, he is considered as performing Ṣalāh as long as it is the Ṣalāh which prevents him ˹from leaving the mosque˺; and the angels keep on supplicating ALLĀH for him as long as he remains in his place of prayer. They say: 'O ALLĀH! have mercy on him; O ALLĀH! forgive his sins; O ALLĀH! accept his repentance'. This will carry on as long as he does not pass wind". {Al-Bukhari and Muslim}.
📚 Riyādhus-Saliḥīn #10
LESSONS AND BENEFITS:
1️⃣. The merit of praying in congregation at the masjid.
2️⃣. It is recommended that a man makes ablution at home to join the congregational prayer, in order to increase the reward.
3️⃣. Intention is primarily considered in securing such a great reward while failing to evoke a sincere intention reduces the reward.
4️⃣. Waiting to do a good deed is in itself a good deed.
My dear Muslim brother, may ALLĀH grant you success! Bear in mind that attending the congregational prayer is an individual obligation on every Muslim man who hears the Adhān (call to prayer) and does not have a valid excuse for not attending. The proofs of its obligation are many, such as the saying of ALLĀH Almighty: "When you ˹O Prophet˺ are with them and lead them in prayer, let a group of them stand ˹in prayer˺ with you..." (4:102) ALLĀH mandated the congregational prayer even when Muslims are at war and fear an enemy attack. So, it is obvious that it is obligatory at times of peace and safety with greater reason.
In addition, there is proof in the Sunnah that the congregational prayer is obligatory upon the blind man; so, how about the one who can see?

It is not ˹possible˺ for this Qur'an to have been produced by anyone other than ALLĀH. In fact, it is a confirmation of what came before, and an explanation of the Scripture. It is, without a doubt, from the Lord of all worlds.
Or do they claim: "He has forged it!"? Tell them ˹O Prophet˺, "Produce one surah like it then, and seek help from whoever you can—other than ALLĀH—if what you say is true!"
Rather, they have denied that which they encompass not in knowledge and whose interpretation has not yet come to them. Similarly, those before them were in denial. Then see what was the end of the wrongdoers!

REMINDER: FASTING AL-AYYAM AL-BEED FOR RABI'UL-THĀNI 1447AH
The white days of the month refer to the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each lunar month. The moon is at its fullest and most luminous during this period. Fasting on these days is sunnah, mentioned in various hadith.
Abu Dharr said: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said to me: "If you fast any part of the month, then fast the 13th, 14th, and 15th." {An-Nasai #2424}
Abdullāh ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As said: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said to me: "It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month because, for every good deed, you will have ˹the reward of˺ ten like it, so that will be like fasting for a lifetime." {Al-Bukhārī #1874}

THE PROHIBITION OF LEAVING THE MASJID WHILE THE IMĀM IS DELIVERING THE FRIDAY SERMON
ALLĀH says,
وَإِذَا رَأَوۡاْ تِجَٰرَةً أَوۡ لَهۡوًا ٱنفَضُّوٓاْ إِلَيۡهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَآئِمًاۚ
When they see some merchandise or amusement, they rush towards it and leave you ˹O Muhammad˺ standing there.
that is, they leave the mosque, out of eagerness to see that distraction or that merchandise. They leave what is good, "and leave you standing there", addressing the people.
This refers to an incident that occurred one Friday, when the Prophet (ﷺ) was addressing the people. A trade caravan came to Madīnah, and when the people heard of it whilst they were in the mosque, they went out of the mosque and left the Prophet (ﷺ) addressing the people, and hastened towards that to which they should not have hastened, forgetting their manners.
قُلۡ مَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ
"Say: That which is with ALLĀH" of reward for the one who adheres to goodness and is patient in worshipping his Lord
خَيۡرٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهۡوِ وَمِنَ ٱلتِّجَٰرَةِۚ
"is better than any distraction or merchandise." Although there is some benefit in trade, it is little and tainted, and it will be the cause of missing out on goodness in the hereafter (for the one who left obligatory acts due to trade), whereas patience in obeying ALLĀH and continuing one's act of worship does not cause one to miss out on provision, for ALLĀH is the best of providers. So whoever fears ALLĀH, HE will grant him provision from where he does not expect.
From this passage we learn many things, including the following:
• It is prohibited to buy and sell after the call to Jumu’ah prayer. That is only because these actions cause one to miss out on the obligatory duty and distract one from it. This indicates that any matter, even if it is permissible in principle, if it results in missing something obligatory, then it is not permissible in that case.
• It is enjoined to attend the two khutbahs on Friday, and the one who does not attend them is blameworthy. What that implies is that one should listen attentively to both of them.
• The individual should focus on worshipping ALLĀH at a time when he is inclined to turn to distractions and trade, and respond to his desires. He should remind himself of that which is with ALLĀH of reward for the one who gives precedence to pleasing ALLĀH over his own whims and desires.
