🏝Holistisches Gesundheit & Lifestyle
Teflonpfannen und -töpfe mit Antihaftbeschichtung waren auch bei uns lange Zeit fester Bestandteil der Küche. Ihre glatte Oberfläche machte das Kochen mit wenig Fett einfach, und die Reinigung war schnell erledigt. Doch was auf den ersten Blick praktisch schien, stellte sich für uns als eine ernsthafte Gefahr heraus, die man nicht ignorieren sollte – besonders dann, wenn die Beschichtung beschädigt ist.
Teflon besteht aus Polytetrafluorethylen (PTFE), einem synthetischen Material, das zwar hitzebeständig ist, jedoch bei hohen Temperaturen schädliche Dämpfe freisetzen kann. Diese Dämpfe können Kopfschmerzen, Schwindel und in extremen Fällen sogar ernsthafte gesundheitliche Probleme verursachen. Uns war lange nicht bewusst, wie schnell Teflonpfannen und -töpfe überhitzen können, und wir damit ein unnötiges Gesundheitsrisiko eingehen.
Besonders kritisch wurde es für uns, als wir feststellten, dass zerkratzte Pfannen und Töpfe noch gefährlicher sind. Die Kratzer in der Antihaftbeschichtung können dazu führen, dass kleine Partikel in die Nahrung gelangen. Besonders problematisch war für uns die Perfluoroctansäure (PFOA), die lange Zeit bei der Herstellung von Teflon verwendet wurde. Diese Chemikalie steht im Verdacht, krebserregend zu sein und den Hormonhaushalt zu stören. Auch wenn PFOA in neueren Teflonpfannen und -töpfen nicht mehr verwendet wird, bleibt die Sorge um mögliche langfristige Auswirkungen bestehen. Für uns war klar: Diese gesundheitlichen Risiken sind einfach nicht vertretbar.
Aus diesen Gründen haben wir uns schon vor Jahren entschieden, Teflonpfannen und -töpfe aus der Küche zu verbannen. Stattdessen greifen wir auf Gusseisenpfannen und -töpfe zurück, genauso wie es auch unsere Vorfahren getan haben. Diese traditionellen Kochutensilien sind nicht nur langlebig, sondern auch gesundheitlich unbedenklich. Sie erfordern zwar etwas mehr Pflege, aber mit der Zeit entwickelt sich eine natürliche Antihaftschicht, die ganz ohne Chemikalien auskommt. Wir können sie bei jeder Temperatur bedenkenlos verwenden, ohne uns Sorgen machen zu müssen, dass giftige Stoffe freigesetzt werden.
Für uns war es eine bewusste Entscheidung, Teflonpfannen und -töpfe aus der Küche zu verbannen. Unsere Ahnen wussten schon, was gut für sie war – Gusseisen ist nicht nur sicherer, sondern auch eine nachhaltige Wahl, die uns langfristig gesünder kochen lässt.
