Читать полностью…He doesn’t have the resources to do much more than he’s already doing. He has fucked up big time though. Whole of western world is now against him and sanctions will hurt him badly. Even though he’s a lunatic, he’s not stupid enough to launch nukes. He would be annihilated in a nuclear war.

Читать полностью…This is a very severe sanction. Short of actually repossessing Russian assets i'm not sure what more there is. You have to expect some retaliation from Russia. AMC is low on the list of things that could be impacted IMO but I think investor fear will probably reduce sentiment further

UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has drawn up a new hit-list of Russian oligarchs to be sanctioned, The Sunday Times reports.
Liz Truss says more of the super-rich linked to Vladimir Putin's regime will be hit with restrictions in the coming weeks.
The paper says she warned them: “We will come after you... there will be nowhere left to hide.
they do this already, google ERDC, Arctic strategy et. al.
Читать полностью…True. My worry is that it’s a country where corruption is quite common. Could they try to compensate RY in some indirect way. Lack of insider ownership and therefore shareholder alignment has always been another big risk here. Not that I’m accusing RY of being corrupt, but I do think he will do what is best for himself first and probably there are some grey areas outside of outright corruption. If we do get an offer of £100m and it comes recommended by the board I would be suspicious.

What we do know is that this is in Russia, we’ve always known that, and it’s always been the biggest risk here. Everyone buying will have bought knowing that risk. Things have obviously now escalated so if you don’t think it’s worth the risk of sticking around sell, if you do then stay. I’m not selling a single share but that’s just me. Do whatever is right for yourself and your family
Читать полностью…Yes, totally agree and I have said that's a risk in my opinion and I have always known this could go to zero.
But maybe you missed earlier posts from Bud Fox and CT that clearly show that AMC's company structure makes it unlikely, for now.

Читать полностью…The EU, US and their allies have agreed to cut off a number of Russian banks from the main international payment system, Swift.
"This is intended to cut off these institutions from international financial flows, which will massively restrict their global operations," a German government spokesman said.
Russia is reliant on the Swift system for its oil and gas exports.
But the move could also harm Western businesses doing business with Russia.
The measures agreed by the US, UK, Europe and Canada also include restriction on the Russian central bank's international reserves, the nations said in a joint statement.

Читать полностью…Based on the same information as everyone else has, I think there's a very real possibility of this being taken back into Russian hands and no one will be able to do anything about it. They're bombing civilians, anyone saying that they can't or won't because it's owned by a company registered in Cyprus is deluded. Anything could happen. It's always been a risk but now it's even more so of one

Hungary latest country to back Russia being stopped from using Swift
Hungary has said it supports Russia being shut off from the Swift cross-border financial payments system, according to Poland’s prime minister.
Mateusz Morawiecki said that he had spoken to Hungary’s prime minister Viktor Orbán on Saturday, where he had confirmed his support.
Earlier on Saturday (see 9:28), Cyprus joined the list of countries who support the move. It was thought that getting Orbán’s support may have proved a roadblock to the proposal, which aims to affect Russian business and the economy, as he is often seen as Vladimir Putin’s closest EU ally – visiting him in early February.
The issue is the Russian gov could seize the 20-30b resource and all our money is down the toilet - with todays news that looks more likely than ever before in Amur Minerals history.
Has the Russian gov ever talked about taking foreign assets and nationalising them before? I certainly can't remember talk of it.
