At the time of the 2014 coup Ukraine had a pro-Russian leader. Democratically elected in theory although with some debate as to exactly how much coercion he applied to voters. He announced that he was severing ties with EU and moving closer to Russia (i think Putin had offered a loan). There were huge protests and effectively a revolution attempt. US backed the revolution and were instrumental in installing a pro-US leader. US even admitted that they spent $5Bn toward installing democracy in Ukraine. A civil war followed as the eastern regions of the country were legitimately pro Russia and though they wanted to be part of Ukraine they wanted more recognition, including things like accepting Russian as a second state language. Russia have been funding those groups since. There was a ceasefire (Minsk Agreement) to the civil war with terms agreed such as Ukraine military being pulled out of those regions etc. This is what Putin alleges Ukraine had reneged on and used as the basis for this conflict. This is my understanding anyway, (which admittedly is pretty basic).

Am not too clued up on the ins and outs of it.
But in general, the US and Europe wanted a more west friendly Ukraine leadership and made sure it occurred.
No country is acting with Ukraines interests at heart otherwise it would never have got to this stage.
Where we are now is a result of the 2014 Ukraine coup led by the US an Europe.

I see that there is the possibility of peace talks.
Difficult to see Russia allowing the EU time to arm Ukraine
I thought Western leaders would negotiate a position.
They seemed to have been more interested in media attention and saying something they'll be remembered for rather than true diplomacy.
Now Europe is going start to provide weapons, all that's going to do is force Putin to up the speed of the assault and therefore the aggression, all whilst having his finger on the button

I think they had more than ample time to sort an asset, they had a year to shortlist assets and they've had 6 months now with the cash.
Had they done the asset when we were 0. 25 we would have seen some profit but now its crashed to 0.10 we won't see any profit when they relist, even if they open 100% higher as this only takes us to 0.20 🤷♂
That's my point, they are doing what's best for themselves (draw everything out as long as possible in the name of salary) as they always do and what's worst for shareholders.
All our Amur shares get kicked out of our ISA when they delist and we have to buy them all back which will cost us at least 15% of our investment or we pay tax on any profit.
I fail to see how this is good 🤷♂

My other fear is that we will start to see governments using the Russian sanctions and obvious difficulty with tracing money with a push for more legislation around crypto and also central bank digital currencies. Governments would love to be able to trace and control how people spend money. Especially with all of the money printing that is going on in US & Europe, and the rampant inflation. Locking people out of alternative stores of wealth is highly desirable. This conflict is a perfect excuse as they could frame the narrative as though it’s all about stopping bad Oligarchs.

The world won’t forget and Russia will be isolated from the rest of the world with a crippled economy. I understand his feelings of provocation, but feels like he has massively mis-called this one
