The layout editor was a planned feature and remained incomplete when the original project was archived. Currently there is an sort of active fork. You can try requesting improving the layout editor there by filing a GitHub issue.

Other than that, I'd recommend everyone to use neovim inside Termux if they don't mind less visuals. It already has lsps for all kinds of languages.

Other than that, the dev for some reason decided to fork Termux instead of integrating with it, resulting in having to maintain another package mirror for it, the layout editor is just not functional, and... nothing else. That's basically everything in AndroidIDE.
