Israeli Army Faces Unprecedented Cyberattacks During Conflict
Amidst the recent conflict, the Israeli army’s vital operational cloud computing systems became the target of an extensive wave of cyberattacks, totaling a staggering 3 billion attempts. According to Col. Racheli Dembinski, commander of the army’s Center of Computers and Information Systems unit, these attacks upon the Israeli army were aimed at disrupting critical systems used by ground troops to manage combat operations, troop movements, and real-time information sharing.
Concurrently, the conflict in Gaza has escalated humanitarian concerns, with devastating impacts on Palestinian civilians. Since October 7, the Gaza Ministry of Health has reported tragic casualties, including over 38,345 fatalities and 88,295 injuries. The ongoing conflict has also resulted in a mass displacement crisis, marking one of the largest exoduses in Palestine since the Nakba in 1948.

New quantum computer outperforms Google’s previous record by 100-fold
Quantinuum, a quantum computing startup backed by JP Morgan Chase, has claimed the crown of quantum supremacy from Google’s Sycamore machine, which was introduced five years ago. The new system, with 56 trapped-ion qubits, demonstrated a 100-fold better score.
The startup claims that its quantum computer is already impossible to emulate with classical supercomputers, “as it would take up the entire memory of the world’s best supercomputers.”
In an industry benchmark called the Random Circuit Sampling (RCS) algorithm, Quantinuum claims to have achieved 100 times improvement over the previous record holder, Google’s Sycamore quantum processor with 53 qubits. Quantinuum’s new 56-qubit computer, called H2-1, ran simulations without a single error about 35% of the time, while Google’s – 0.2% of the time.

AT&T pays threat actor $370,000 to delete stolen data
The multinational telecommunications company reportedly paid hackers almost $400,000 to delete the data stolen from nearly all AT&T customers.
AT&T reportedly employed a hacker to delete the tens of millions of call, text, and landline data that was stolen from the company, affecting nearly all of its customers.

Disney‘s internal Slack containing unreleased projects leaked – hackers
A hacktivist group claims to have stolen over one terabyte of data from Disney’s internal Slack channels, which were used by the mega conglomerates’ developers.
The attacker group, calling itself NullBulge, alleges that the stolen data includes information taken from 10,000 Slack channels, including all messages and files.
“1.1TiB of files and chat messages. Anything we could get our hands on, we downloaded and packaged up. Want to see what goes on behind the doors?” attackers said.

Societe Francaise Du Radiotelephone, popularly known as SFR, a prominent telecommunications company based in France, has fallen victim to an alleged cyberattack. The SFR data breach, which was allegedly orchestrated on July 12, 2024, has been attributed to a hacker known as “KevAdams,” who claims to have infiltrated and compromised over 1.4 million landline users’ data of the company.
SFR is France’s third-largest telecom provider.

Threat actors are quick to weaponize available proof-of-concept (PoC) exploits in actual attacks, sometimes as quickly as 22 minutes after exploits are made publicly available.
That is according to Cloudflare's Application Security report for 2024, which covers activity between May 2023 and March 2024 and highlights emerging threat trends.

ARRL finally confirms ransomware gang stole data in cyberattack
The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) finally confirmed that some of its employees' data was stolen in a May ransomware attack initially described as a "serious incident."
ARRL, the National Association for Amateur Radio, said in data breach notifications recently sent to impacted individuals that it detected the "sophisticated ransomware incident" after the attackers breached and encrypted its computer systems on May 14.
After discovering the breach, ARRL took impacted systems offline to contain the incident and hired external forensic experts to help assess the attack's impact.
In early June, it also revealed that its systems were hacked by a "malicious international cyber group" in a "sophisticated network attack."
