Post-Doctoral position in computational onco-immunologygy
Introduction
UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility.
Presentation
We are looking for highly motivated post-doc to join our group.
Job information
Expected start date in position : 01.11.2021, flexible.
Contract length : 1 year (renewable twice for two years).
Activity rate : 100%
Workplace : Agora (CHUV campus, Lausanne)
Your responsibilities
Single-cell genomics technologies are revolutionizing our understanding of the heterogeneity of biological samples such as tumors. This technology enables researchers to phenotypically characterize hundreds of thousands of cells in terms of gene expression, genetic alterations, chromatin accessibility or TCR/BCR rearrangements for T/B cells. However, the increasingly large number of cells that are being studied creates new challenges for data analysis, visualization and interpretation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop new algorithms to improve analysis of single-cell genomics data from tumors. These include (but are not restricted to) new developments in the recently introduced ‘super-cell’ concept applied to cancer and immune cells (Bilous et al, BioRxiv 2021).
Together with several experimental collaborators, we are located in the new Agora building, which crystallizes efforts in translational cancer research at UNIL, EPFL and CHUV (https://www.chuv.ch/fr/oncologie/onc-home/le-departement/swiss-cancer-center-leman-sccl/agora). In addition, Lausanne offers one of the best translational research environments in the field of cancer immunotherapy with several world-renowned Institutes (Ludwig Institute for Cancer research, ISREC) and cutting-edge computational infrastructures (SIB).
Your qualifications
PhD in Computational Biology, Math, Physics or Computer science with demonstrated experience in Bioinformatics and at least one first-author research paper in a peer-reviewed journal. Experience with gene expression analysis and machine learning algorithms in computational immunology is a plus.
All candidates should have a strong interest in computational biology applied to cancer and immunology-related research and excellent collaborative skills with experimental biologists. Good knowledge in algorithmic developments and programming, as well as the ability to work in English (oral + written) are required.
What the position offers you
We offer a nice working place in a multicultural, diverse and dynamic academic environment. Opportunities for professional training, a lot of activities and other benefits to discover.
