🠺 Vitamin C turned out to have tremendous health benefits not only for our body but also for our skin. It’s the primary water-soluble antioxidant in our tissue and plays a big role in the complicated process where our skin creates some nice new skin-firming collagen.
🠺 it’s really good to have plenty of Vit C in our body and in our skin but the trick is that our body cannot make vitamin C. We have to take it entirely from outside sources. Citrus fruits, black currants, red pepper or guava are for example awesome Vit C rich foods that you should eat regularly.

♡ Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (EAC) for short is an "etherified derivative of ascorbic acid" that consists of vitamin C and an ethyl group bound to the third carbon position. This makes Vitamin C very stable and soluble in both water and oil.
♡ EAC seems to have both an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect, and it's claimed to be able to boost the skin's collagen production. The strong point of EAC though is skin brightening.

is comedogenic and irritancy rating useless?
the ratings have a lot of limitations but are not useless.
They tend to be a bit overemphasised on the internet as if these numbers were the most important things to check on an ingredient list. They are not, but they give useful extra info about the ingredients.
If an ingredient is non-comedogenic (0-1), then you can be pretty sure that it is not the reason behind your “acne cosmetica” (the acne caused by cosmetics).
If an ingredient is comedogenic (4-5) and is high up in the ingredient list (so there is more of it in the product) and you are prone to comedones, you might want to reconsider or read some extra reviews from people with similar skin type.
Or if you are breaking out, and trying to figure out why, comedogenic ingredients in your products are obviously more suspicious than non-comedogenic ones.

✼ 🇼🇭🇦🇹 🇮🇹 🇩🇴🇪🇸: skin-indentical ingredients, moisturizer/humectant
✼ 🅓🅔🅣🅐🅘🅛🅢:
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a sugar found naturally in our skin that holds water and helps keep it hydrated and plump.
The HA within our bodies holds a thousand times its weight in water to not only retain all that moisture in our skin and joints, but also prevent all that moisture from evaporating into the air.
When used in skincare products like creams and serums, hyaluronic acid brings moisture to the surface of your skin.
Because of its ability to draw and hold water, it can be used as a humectant in your skin care regiment.
❗️Hyaluronic acid used incorrectly can also dehydrate your skin.
The molecule needs water to plump, but without any moisture on the surface of your skin or from the air, it will pull the water from deep inside your skin.
This is easy to counteract, though. Try applying the serum on damp skin, then quickly topping it with a cream.
HAs are best used under a more occlusive moisturizer to trap in the water-binding effects of the acid.
。━━━━━━━━━━━━。

♡ ascorbyl glucoside is absorbed into the skin it is converted to pure vitamin C. It also shows all the three anti-aging benefits (antioxidant protection + collagen boosting + fading hyperpigmentation) that pure vitamin C does.

What is comedogenic & irritancy rating?
It is a number on the 0-5 scale that describes the potential of an ingredient to cause comedones or irritate the skin surface.
0 is the best and means no comedones/irritation, while 5 means the (undiluted) ingredient has a good chance of causing problems.
Sometimes the rating is a from-to value (eg. 0-2) where the result depended on the study, source of raw material or type of oil (refined or not).

They are waxy lipids that can be found naturally in the outer layer of the skin (called stratum corneum - SC).
The goopy stuff between our skin cells is called extracellular matrix that consists mainly of lipids.
And ceramides are about 50% of those lipids (the other important ones are cholesterol with 25% and fatty acids with 15%).
♡ what they do in our skin: research shows clearly that they play a super important role in keeping the skin barrier healthy and the skin hydrated.
If ceramides in the skin are decreased, more water can evaporate from the skin and there is less water remaining in the skin.
So ceramides form kind of a "water-proof" protecting layer and make sure that our skin remains nice and hydrated.
