^ btw, it's the same with the concept of religious dogma, the practice of kneeling while addressing the gods and more. Some "Pagans" just don't like religion in general so they try to mold ancestral faith into atheism with runes. It's somewhat understandable and can even be forgiven if the guy is a teen who just now got into Paganism, but when the man is pushing 40s, claims to be an expert and promotes his atheistic revision to countless followers it becomes a problem.

May his name never be erased!
In the 17th c. during the Cossack–Polish War led by Ukrainian national hero Bohdan Khmelnytsky jews were killed since they managed the estates of Polish nobility. Hence many modern authors paint a negative picture of Khmelnytsky and his actions, e.g. Polish-born jew Orest Subtelny wrote:
"Between 1648 and 1656, tens of thousands of Jews-given the lack of reliable data, it is impossible to establish more accurate figures-were killed by the rebels, and to this day the Khmelnytsky uprising is considered by Jews to be one of the most traumatic events in their history."
Since many appreciated my posts about chief Shkuro I’m going to write on the topic of cossacks again, specifically the handling of jews by the original Ukrainian cossacks.
A lot of rare and unexplored tales just deserve more attention. Already researched the majority, just need to compile the data.
When a christian says that Paganism is amoral and heathen Gods are evil, remind the guy of Sysiphus, Ixion and Tantalus.

Читать полностью…As king of the gods, the Dagda exercised great authority. It was he who divided amongst the Tuatha De Danann, that is to say, the gods, whom the more fortunate race of Mile had overthrown, the sid or wonderful palaces, which were usually inaccessible to men, being hidden away in the bowels of the earth, under the hollow of the hills, or beneath rising ground. The Dagda, for instance, gave a sid to Lug, son of Ethne, and another to Ogma.

Some say that mythic literalism wasn’t the norm, or at least something only peasants (as STJ puts it) believed, therefore we are to worship archetypes. But that’s a lie since those who made such claims in the past (xenophanes, socrates, plato) had to explain and promote the idea. It was a new spin on traditional Paganism and it was not appreciated, to the point that those supporting it got punished. The only reason actual Pagan believers are criticized as fundamentalists and whatnot is simple. Most Pagans today are ex-christians who got atheistic in order to drop christianity. Later they jumped on Pagan bandwagon and sadly kept atheistic lenses on. Hence the ridicule of literal (aka real) belief in Gods as something christian. It’s not. It’s just religion. And deep down they don’t want a religion.

Have a good Wednesday, guys. It’s a beautiful way to study ancestral traditions. Then again, every day is!

They also destroyed many cathedrals and killed countless Latin Catholic priests."
Eventually Pavliuk was captured, tortured and put to a gruesome death by the Poles who were praised for it by the jewish chronicler.
Cossack chief Severyn Nalyvaiko is another example of a Ukrainian hero jews despise. 17th century chronicler, talmudist and kabbalist Nathan ben Moses Hanover dedicated a chapter of his book Yeven Mezulah (Abyss of Despair) to Nalyvaiko titled "Here’s a list of destructions from Nalyvaiko (may his name be erased)". The part in brackets is a traditional hebrew curse yimakh shemo which jews use each time they address an enemy of their people. Also, the book praises Polish king Władysław IV as a fair ruler who loved the people of Israel.

It involved pogroms since Polish authorities were accepting of jews and let them lead cushy lives, occupying profitable jobs such as merchants, stewards and tavern owners. Thus jews settled close to the wealthy Poles. When Ukrainian uprising began cossacks slaughtered jews living near Polish estates. One example is the sack of Kaniv castle. Cossack chief S.Musiienko nicknamed Undead (Nezhyvy) led a raid on one of the biggest Polish (and subsequently jewish) centers Kaniv stronghold, burning it down and killing the local jews in the process.

An interesting ceremony was performed by peasants to protect the kettle (and people) from disease. A plough was pulled around the village by unmarried women and widows. The ritual took place at night and was accompanied by singing and screaming to scare death off. Any animal encountered during the ritual was killed since it was considered to be death itself in a form of a beast.
When the Dagda, after the defeat of the Tuatha De Danann by the sons of Mile, came to divide the sid or underground palaces among his chieftains, one of the latter was absent. This was Oengus, son of the Dagda.
Shortly afterwards he came before the Dagda and complained of the injustice. The Dagda, however, refused to hear him. Oengus then asked permission to pass the night in his father's mysterious palace at Brug na Boinne. The Dagda consented, and to the night graciously added the day, meaning, of course, the next day. But Oengus once in possession refused to leave, on the plea that time being composed of nights and days, the palace had been ceded to him in perpetuity.

Some one might ask then, what race held the island, when this mighty work was reared above this lough?
Well I remember, it was the Tuatha De Danann in their hosts, with their darts, with their shields, with their war-harness.
Who was king over all Erin, sweet-sounding, radiant? Who but the skilful Dagda? You hear of none other so famous.
