Unlike the majority of heroes (bogatyr) who were mortal men with great physical strength Volh is not human.
One day a young princess was having a walk in the garden. Suddenly, a flying serpent rushed the maiden and coiled itself around her body. Later Volh was born.
Today I’ll share another epic song (bylina) with you. This one is the eldest of them all and definitely one of the best. As always, I have to remind you that there’s a lot of minor differences in the versions we have available and I only address them when necessary. Otherwise my retelling will be an attempt at presenting the purest version of the tale, even though my own personality will inevitably leave a mark.
As usual analysis will come a day after the retelling.
With all this clear, let me begin.

Zeus and Typhon is another example of the Hellenic Chaoskampf myth. Instead of the original Thunder God.
What it does preserve is the idea that the Chaos is not defeated permanently and the Chaos serpent is not killed, but rather imprisoned since Zeus couldn’t destroy Typhon and buried him under mount Etna.

Traditional werewolf transformation
Slavic folklore and Hollwood versions of werewolf are very different. The latter is well know and has mostly overshadowed the former in the collective consciousness, even in Europe.
Traditional werewolf (oboroten) is one who can turn into a wolf whenever he wants and also has full control since it’s not a curse.
There’s no single ritual, but the most popular one includes sticking a knife (usually copper) into an old stump and jumping over it, often while reciting a spell.
'King' David
If David did exist he cannot possibly have been the mighty king described in the Tanakh. At the time when he is said to have ruled over a large and sophisticated civilisation, the real world of archaeology has revealed "only a few dozen very small scattered hamlets and villages" supporting farmers who "numbered hardly more than two thousand persons."
If David existed at all he can have been little more than a hill country chieftain. As one recent commentator observes: "The chief disagreement nowadays is between those who hold that David was a petty hilltop chieftain whose writ extended no more than a few miles in any direction, and a small but vociferous band of 'biblical minimalists' who maintain that he never existed at all."

There is actually a version of the myth of Hercules fighting Hydra which preserves the motif of imprisoned Chaos.
It states that after the battle Hydra was still alive since one of her heads was immortal and indestructible. Heracles cut it off and placed the still writhing head under a great rock on the sacred way between Lerna and Elaius, just like Zeus does with Typhon and the mountain.
Hercules versus Hydra is not the only remnant of the ancient Chaoskampf in Hellenic tradition, but it is the best.

I am sick and tired of Christians. How someone can be so blind, is beyond me. I can understand the idiocy of people a thousand years ago – they saw their neighbors being slaughtered in the name of Jesus and God and simply had to convert. Eventually, others followed up and literally “believed”, because they were not allowed to possess or read the Bible themselves.
You could only “hear about Christianity” directly from a Priest. They had total control over their “religion”. No one forced them to tell the people the “nice stuff”. And, if you haven’t noticed – they need to “convert you”. They have to wash away (baptize) your European self and then call upon you the Jewish entity. The Symbolism is self-evident. Anyway, people were not reading the Bible at all – they didn’t know how to read, there were no books, they didn’t know Latin or Greek.

I appreciate Tom having a balanced view here however I would strongly disagree. Platonism is a transcendental and universalist proposition. This is completely incompatible with Heathen and foundational IE theology at large.
Heathenry is natural and determined with a clear immanent understanding of cosmology. When the myths say that you die, go to Hel for judgement and then are later reincarnated, you can't then apply a philosophy that says the opposite. That by definition is a heretical understanding of the sources.
Platonists get around this by saying that the myths are just metaphors. Myths are the inherited story of a race of people. If the myths don't matter then our creation doesn't matter and then who we are as a people doesn't matter. It's only a step away from gender, borders and race don't matter.
The Plato to Christianity to Liberalism to woke deathcult pipeline is objectively the case.
Obviously Plato is a much more sympathetic figure than the freaks having transgender throuples today but the lineage is there.
Universalism is 100% heretical to the heathen worldview. One universal truth, one universal morality is the foundation that globalism and transhumanism stands on. Which is the opposite of our Germanic ancestors who were fiercly tribal.
Heathens don't need Platonism. All of the important questions of the human experience can be answered within heathen sources. At best it's a distraction and at worst it's completely incompatible in places.
Also Socrates was literally executed for heresy.
