Got another tale from the same book called How the Earth Was Made which is somewhat similar to the one shared above. It’s also heavily christianized, but has somewhat more Pagan elements.

Today these dark creatures still exist: mara and vodianyk, domovyk and polovyk.

It is true that some tell of the dark ones and their tricks, but others do not believe. That is because the dark ones cannot be seen by the human eye. Always they must live beneath the light, cast away and hidden.

Sky, sun, moon, stars, and all the heavenly planetsthese were created by the spirit of light. Earth, animals, plants, and other visible things were made by the light spirit and the dark spirit together. Then the light spirit went off and began creating on his own, carving figures with his sword. These he called human and they looked like the spirit of light himself.

Posting that christianized creation myth now. Keep in mind that it really is close to the biblical one at some points, especially the beginning.

Join us on 9/25/25, for a crash course on Advanced Heathenry.

A lot of my shows are novice-friendly for good reason. At Pagan Revivalism, we want ancestral faith to be as accessible as possible. From those who have been a part of revival from decades to months, a lot of folk will walk away with good insights, especially from our great guest scholars. Introductory material always has its place, but those of us who have been around for many years recognize the sheer depth of knowledge contained within Heathenry. Many folk don't know this & seek depth from other traditions, creating amalgamations that never existed in history.

On this show, we will showcase some of the advanced level questions & theories in Heathenry. Even though we will go over more complex ideas in ancient Germanic religion, and it's revival, it is very important to reveal to beginners that Heathenry is not superficial or lacks depth.

It will be a show full of intrigue & mystery, of great ideas & history, join us for Advanced Heathenry!

Lovely Terpsichore, one of the Muses, had borne them [Sirens] to Achelous, and at one time they had been handmaids to Demeter's gallant Daughter [Persephone], before she was married, and sung to her in chorus. But now, half human and half bird in form, they spent their time watching for ships from a height that overlooked their excellent harbour; and many a traveller, reduced by them to skin and bones, had forfeited the happiness of reaching home.

New-Age is a hubristic fraud.

She is no Druid: their lineage ended. Her "priestessship" is bogus. LGBTQ ideology is antithetical to traditional religions. Sumer, Egypt, Persia, Rome, and elsewhere would have exiled or killed her.

Stuff like this is why we get mocked.

Cetus

Cetus is not a singular creature, but a type of sea monsters in Greek myth. Ceti (plural form of Cetus) were slain by such heroes as Hercules and Perseus. The name of the constellation Cetus comes from these monsters as well as Cetology a science that studies whales, dolphins, and porpoises.

The christian society has built cages, prisons, in the sad attempt to make criminals repent for their "sins" through isolation and ostracization. Not even forced work to pay for their stay in prison solves the problem.
Criminals will rarely regret their life choices and recidivism becomes a constant factor in the justice system.
What did we, as pagans, had back then?
You either pay a massive fine, exiled for life, or executed by many ways (drowned, the blood eagle, decapitated).
This is how we punish crimes, this is how we make society safer: we punish, we break the bandit's will and show that crime does not pay you with anything good down the line.

Obviously the tale above is full of christian elements. The beginning is almost directly quoting Genesis with god hovering over the waters and Let there be light. But the creation is split between two spirits. Of course having a pure good and pure evil Gods is not christian, but it’s also not very Pagan. Reeks of zoroastrian (i.e. proto-christian) subversion.
But Paganism does show itself in details, like humans being carved out of wood. With a sword. A peculiar detail. Later mystic beings are also created with a sword. The ending tries to tie Slavic folk creatures like domovyk (a household one), vodianyk (a water one), polovyk (a field one) and mara (an evil female one) to it’s biblical creation myth.

This shows that people still had a largely Pagan worldview even long after conversion and priests had to incorporate old belief into christianity for it to have an appeal.

When the spirit of shadow saw what the spirit of light was doing, he became very jealous. He too wanted to make beings in his own likeness, but he did not have the power to create by himself. So he waited until the light spirit fell asleep, sneaked over to his side, and stole the light spirit's sword, hiding it under his robes. Quietly, quickly the dark spirit ran. When he was sure he could not be seen or heard, he took the sword out and struck a rock with it. Out poured multitudes of dark things, and sickness and sorrow too. Turning away from the spirit of light, the spirit of shadow ruled over these dark beings.

Long before there was an earth to stand upon and before there were people to remember and tell, there was a vast aching darkness. The darkness was surrounded by water and above the water flew two spirits one made of light, the other made of shadow.
One day the light spirit said to the dark spirit, "Let's make something." The dark spirit agreed, so the light spirit said, "Let there be light." And there was light.
But all this light made the dark spirit feel small and unhappy.
"There's too much light," he grumbled. "Can't I have just a little darkness?" The light spirit consented, so the spirit of shadow made night.

Found a version of an Eastern Slavic creation myth. It’s heavily christianized but still Pagan at it’s core. Already translated too, so no need to bother on my part. Will publish shortly. Can’t find good images to go with the story, probably won’t. Can try to de-christianize it later.

The Sirens, daughter of the River Achelous and the Muse Melpomene, wandering away after the rape of Proserpina [Persephone], came to the land of Apollo, and there were made flying creatures by the will of Ceres [Demeter] because they had not brought help to her daughter. It was predicted that they would live only until someone who heard their singing would pass by.
