As I’ve shown before ancient societies, and Greek ones in particular were far from the degenerate picture modern revisionists try paint. Premarital sex was frowned upon and while women enjoyed many freedoms, they were definitely under male control. Of course there’s nothing wrong with it, but this aspect of Hellenic culture was what subverters attacked first. Trendy foreign cults were full of debauchery. Loud singing, wild dances and alcohol were integral to the wast majority of them. Surprisingly reminiscent of the counter-culture movements of the 20th c. Romans suffered from similar fringe crazes before their fall. The Senate even banned Bacchanalia, but it was too late.

Even though it is obviously a comedy, the play can and should be used to analyze the sad state of affairs in late Hellenic period. Both morals and religion were is complete disarray back then, hence the rise of foreign cults and philosophies. The play alludes to this, albeit briefly. Just like with christianity, exotic foreign cults were most popular among women. A thing to note and remember.

Over the past several years, we have led the charge in many debates. Because of how thoroughly the other side has been laid low, accusations of "being divisive" have arisen, compromising their plan for a "big tent" movement.
Firstly, the "big tent" guys aren't actually for a "big tent." Do they want to include Varg, the Troth, the homo fake pagans, wiccans & lokians??
Nope.
So they aren't actually after a "big tent" despite what they claim.
Revival is a refinery, the fires of debate, investigation & uncomfortable truths burn away the impurities of axiality which inhabit us all. What remains behind is a purified substance. Maybe not 100.00%, but as close as we can get to that state. The fires are hot & painful. Just like one becomes sore after working out, the results are worth every drop of sweat. We're out to impress, reconnect & be blessed by Gods & Ancestors alike. The more metal thats purified in the refinery, the brighter it shines, reflecting divine light. Those that don't, don't.

This channel loves to promote introductory content to newer folk, relaying to them what I wish I had known starting out in ancestral faith revival. Often times, when we primarily focus on such, it gives off the assumption that spiritual depth, intrigue and advanced knowledge are only present outside Heathenry.
On this show we have a special repeat guest, a Heathen for over thirty years, director of the Norrœna Society, founder of the Kvasir Academy (a Gothar's university so to speak), Mark Puryear!
This show will reveal to the new, and experienced alike, that there is a lot to learn and still discover in our great Germanic ancestral faith! That we don't need foreign new-age philosophies to have profound spiritual and intellectual depth. That our blessed ancestors were far more sophisticated than we give them credit.
Here's the link and hope to see you all there!

Obviously the tale above is full of christian elements. The beginning is almost directly quoting Genesis with god hovering over the waters and Let there be light. But the creation is split between two spirits. Of course having a pure good and pure evil Gods is not christian, but it’s also not very Pagan. Reeks of zoroastrian (i.e. proto-christian) subversion.
But Paganism does show itself in details, like humans being carved out of wood. With a sword. A peculiar detail. Later mystic beings are also created with a sword. The ending tries to tie Slavic folk creatures like domovyk (a household one), vodianyk (a water one), polovyk (a field one) and mara (an evil female one) to it’s biblical creation myth.
This shows that people still had a largely Pagan worldview even long after conversion and priests had to incorporate old belief into christianity for it to have an appeal.
When the spirit of shadow saw what the spirit of light was doing, he became very jealous. He too wanted to make beings in his own likeness, but he did not have the power to create by himself. So he waited until the light spirit fell asleep, sneaked over to his side, and stole the light spirit's sword, hiding it under his robes. Quietly, quickly the dark spirit ran. When he was sure he could not be seen or heard, he took the sword out and struck a rock with it. Out poured multitudes of dark things, and sickness and sorrow too. Turning away from the spirit of light, the spirit of shadow ruled over these dark beings.

One day the light spirit said to the dark spirit, "Let's make something." The dark spirit agreed, so the light spirit said, "Let there be light." And there was light.
But all this light made the dark spirit feel small and unhappy.
"There's too much light," he grumbled. "Can't I have just a little darkness?" The light spirit consented, so the spirit of shadow made night.

Читать полностью…Varg’s biggest fault is being born too early to support real sources-accurate Paganism and too late not to fight it.
The guy has an underground appeal him having been behind bars and all. Church burning was denied by Varg himself countless times, but still became a popular meme. Fans try to excuse his worst takes as jokes, but let’s be real. Placenta cult is pure cringe. Comes from his wife icydk. Some really like Burzum and even non-metal songs of his.
Lastly, Varg’s got charisma…a shame it didn’t come with brains.

We men must share the blame of their ill conduct; it is we who teach them to love riot and dissoluteness and sow the seeds of wickedness in their hearts.
Of course in the context of the play he is criticizing women for a noble opposition to a pointless war. But if we apply it to say, the rise of christianity, or the spread of foreign mystic cults (e.g. those of Isis or Cybele) these words ring very true.
A.Georgiades on Lysistrata and supposed homosexual utopia in Ancient Greece
"In this play Athenian women decide not to have sex with their husbands, in order to force them to stop the war with Sparta. If homosexuality was so widely practiced, this decision would mean nothing to men, since they could turn to each other to satisfy their desires. But this is not what happens. On the contrary, men give way rather quickly, because they cannot stand this compulsory abstinence."
Zrets
The one who sacrifices (to the Gods)
Zrets comes from the verb which means to worship/sacrifice and is used when talking of priesthood (even non-Pagan). In Slavic Paganism a priest is distinguished by his beard, which is shaved clean by all other men. It is likely that Weles (Veles) also has a beard. He is a God of poetry and trade who rules the Underworld.
Whether zrets was always synonymous with a more common term volkhv is impossible to say, but in modern Paganism it is. Maybe originally volkhv meant a holy warrior rather than a priest.

This kind of effigy is, for all intents and purposes, a scape-goat ritual. For those that may not understand what this ritual entails, it is to absorb negative or evil forces within the effigy, and for it to be destroyed, symbolizing the defeat of evil. There are several reasons why this is off-putting to those following Germanic Ancestral faith:
1) Not attested in Germania.
2) Brings evil & loki in a sacred area.
3) "My loki idol" 😒 bruh
4) Making & burning offerings goes to Gods; send them loki &/or send it to loki!?
5) Modern effigy burnings in the anglo-sphere come from Guy Fawkes Night
6) Guy Fawkes Night is an English political version of the medieval christian 'burning of judas.'
7) Christians took this from the Egyptian overthrowing of apep ritual.
8) This is, in reality, an attempt to jeetify Heathenry with a "Heathen version" of vijayadashami, where the burning of the effigy of the evil ravana is done.

This is hindu, not Heathen.

Got another tale from the same book called How the Earth Was Made which is somewhat similar to the one shared above. It’s also heavily christianized, but has somewhat more Pagan elements.
Читать полностью…Today these dark creatures still exist: mara and vodianyk, domovyk and polovyk.
It is true that some tell of the dark ones and their tricks, but others do not believe. That is because the dark ones cannot be seen by the human eye. Always they must live beneath the light, cast away and hidden.
Sky, sun, moon, stars, and all the heavenly planetsthese were created by the spirit of light. Earth, animals, plants, and other visible things were made by the light spirit and the dark spirit together. Then the light spirit went off and began creating on his own, carving figures with his sword. These he called human and they looked like the spirit of light himself.
