We were walking the other day on the same road we had walked some couple of years ago. And I was tracing our steps, and to my delight our shoe marks fit the traces we left behind back then.
I don't know if you have realised that. I am glad we didn't grow out our shoe sizes, I am glad we haven't 'changed'.
I think of what I have paid to keep it this way.
I would like to think myself as a ghost investor, I would like to hope you will never recognize my currency. Couse the minute people realise their worth, am afraid they will change and their shoes won't fit anymore.
But I would like us to have more of this walk.
And I want it to look so plain.
Plain as it really is.

Although it is undeniably noble to some extent, I am thinking determination to keep ones opinion or stance is overrated. It really is leaving us no room to make sensible and evidence based opinion shifts.
We tend to make statues out of our opinions. And we humans have a funny history of idolising our very own handiworks. They immediately start feeling bigger than the hands which made them. I can't lie, there is something overwhelmingly captivating about that. And before we know it, we are making our own mini gods. I mean like, a lot of them!
But even statues get demolished
and sculptures get smashed.
Hey, it is okay to change opinions.
It is okay to change your mind.
May your loyality always be to the truth and the truth only.

It is funny how when people ask who made the first move in our story, you proudly point to yourself
But I got a different narrative on that particularly
When I think about it now,
I can say we were the same kind of people in a way
None of us were willing to come half way
I was comfortable at my end
And you were comfortable at your end
It was like both of us sitting at the opposite ends of a seesaw
Balancing out one another in our comfort zone
without really knowing it
I can't speak for you
But I waited, out of ego
I waited, out of stubbornness
I waited, out of fear of the unknown
I waited at my end
I waited solemnly
And you know how when you don't move around and you don't exercise, you start putting on 'em pounds like a warm blanket
So it took what it took
But I finally managed to tip the seesaw
And you came right at me wearing your heart on your sleeves
I gotta say, you looked dorky
So now I hear you tell how you came all the way while I stayed at my end without flinching
Don't be so sure, I did my own version of "coming"
I waited

[ ኑሮ and ህይወት]
For most people,
The idea of having a home to go to at the end of the day
Is what makes cruel bosses, tiresome jobs, exhausting school work, or our daily dose of multifaceted challenges much endurable
We spend most part of days on the go, in the hussle
I don't think English does a good job exactly depicting this
but In Amharic we have a better fitting term for that
And It is called ኑሮ
That thing you look forward to
That thing that keeps you going
That thing that makes the ኑሮ bearable
The thing that you are utterly passionate about
That thing you come back to
That thing you treasure most
Be it your faith, your family,
your friends, your church, your country, the dream career you are building ...you name it
That...that is home
That is life... That is ህይወት
ኑሮ is momentary, it is more about the present
But ህይወት is much more than that
It is about the past, the present, and the future
Life is a lot more wholesome
ህይወት is what makes ኑሮ bearable
And ኑሮ is what makes ህይወት affordable
So about these...ኑሮ and ህይወት
balancing these two is what I call
"THE ART OF LIVING"
And as strange as this may sound,
I gotta say it
Don't let life get into the way of your ኑሮ
But most importantly
don't let your ኑሮ get into the way of your life

You carry more than a lot on your shoulders
In the most literal sense
And I feel bad having it easy
I feel bad for having mundane worries and benign burdens
I feel bad about the extra hour I took napping after silencing my alarm this morning
Or the twenty five minutes I spent in my head the other day
Thinking insignificant things and doing nothing
I feel bad for not being as enthusiastic as you are about life
I feel bad I don't see what you see
I feel bad it ain't fair
I see you and I think of all the ways you could have been doing all the things I am doing and God knows how so much better
I feel like I am living on borrowed days from the people like you that deserves'em the most for the reasons I don't understand
And that gives me the chills
Sometimes I think this whole life thing is about the bigger picture we all play part in putting the pieces together
Now some people like you get to have a glimpse of that bigger picture for you are purer
And people like me, we are just walking around clueless
But I feel like we oughta do this right for your sake if not for ourselves
Cause it ain't fair that you don't get to see it through
But it is more unfair and immoral to waste our borrowed days
This sort of thoughts put me on my edges
So sometimes I may get lazy or tired
But even then, I will catch a ride on an Osprey's stick like the red-winged blackbird...
I won't stop, I promise to fly high
For as long as I can
Cause I don't want to mess the bigger picture you forsaw for not doing my part
I tell you,
I have got you on my mind
And I am working on making that a safe place
