Ah okay I understand. Let me know how it goes with the potassium nitrate
Читать полностью…I'm trying a different method now.
But I have to make an entire setup for it.
These are the tiny ones.
With different magnification.
Nothing much to it.
Dissolve in water then evaporate.
I'm looking for a glass grade rather than purity.
I think I've achieved 99.99% purity.
You are my new best friend.
We will talk more about this.
I'm currently focused on making crystals.
Maybe after.
I was asking, as a proof of concept type.
But I got my answer.
I guess my next question would be, have you ever Frankensteined your telescope.
Like buy one, then add, replace or modify its parts.
I have never sanded my own mirrors, no. Lens telescopes like mine are almost impossible to build on your own if you don't have a lab and precise machinery.
Читать полностью…you can do that!!?? damn really need to see into this
Читать полностью…Have you only worked with a pre-built telescopes.
Or did you ever make one from scratch or parts.
suggest me some book for particle physics
Читать полностью…never ever I would have thought a telescope in this range can take those images
how many accessories though?
Because it was a pilot trial.
I just winged it. No control on the process.
Also NaCl is not a good salt to work with. It's solubility in water is more or less stable over an entire range of temperature.
.
.
I shifted to pottasium nitrate now.
So the new process is basically:
Warm water, dissolve salt.
Cool water, precipitate salt.
Why didn't it work how you wanted to do you think?
Читать полностью…This makes me excited to see, because I've got a geology geophysics background so it takes me back to when I used to use a microscope etc
Читать полностью…This one is a big piece.
It did not grow as I wanted it to.
crystals?
damn
if you get over 90% purity then you will be the next walter white fs
With reflectors you need to regularly open them and adjust the mirror tilt etc.
Wirh refractors, I'd never open one ever. There's nothing to improve generally, and the risk of getting dust and moisture inside or scratch the optics is just too high.
What I do is replace the manual focuser with a motorized focuser, replace the eyepiece with the imaging train (filter wheel, off-axis guider, camera) and replace the mounting plate to better fit the weight distribution on the mount.
You can build simple reflectors, yes. But it is a lot of work sanding and polishing the mirrors.
A usable reflector is harder to build. One that is suited for astrophotography even more

Читать полностью…Honestly, it's more about patience than having a crazy setup. Yes, there is a lot of technical things that go into a rig, but taking your time for capturing and processing is key.
Читать полностью…Scope is a William Optics Z103. Thank you!
