❗️The Lithuanian Parliament has voted to abolish the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons. The decision requires a second vote in three months to come into effect.

The resolution stipulates that Article 137 of the Constitution, which prohibits the deployment of weapons of mass destruction on the territory of the republic, will be removed. The same article also prohibits the presence of foreign military bases.

At the same time, Vilnius has expressed its willingness to host a permanent U.S. military base and to bear the costs of its operation.
