That's why you block the app from connecting to the internet.. and never send dwg,max files in the mail. Either zip and send them or send them through whatsapp, other ways.
The files contain metadata of the origin computer, your IP, hardware ID, specs of the machine and much more..
Preety sure we don't need to add email id for it while patching

you dont make games in 3ds max, you only model the assets in it. you make games in a game engine.

It belonged to Nvidia. Autodesk paid them to include it in 3ds max..
Nvidia discontinued the development. So Autodesk didn't have any choice other than making their own renderer. So they made ART..
After that they purchased solid angle which was the maker of a very popular engine, Arnold. And made arnold the default engine..arnold is leagues ahead of ART or Mental ray... Technology progresses, and you adapt to it.
We had mental ray which was good they killed it and added arnold

Even if they earn well they won't buy it.. that's the mentality...
3ds max indie is $10-12 a month. That's 90% discount over the actual price. Still people won't buy..

Yeah, it happens. Same thing is done by Autodesk for AutoCAD and 3ds max...but with much more bigger fines and strict consequences...
It mostly happens to companies/design offices etc. they don't usually target individuals. But they have started doing that.

scroll down and start from whatever version.
Upgrading to newer version is mostly decided on 2 factors
- are all the plugins you use supported by new version
- does the new version have really good advantage over old version, does the performance increase justify upgrading.
And mostly these are the things studios look at, when deciding to upgrade. Because they will have dozens or even hundreds of computers. Upgrading is a huge deal. Because it can break their whole pipeline. Therefore, mostly they will stay 1 or 2 version behind the latest always.
But for an individual, it's not such a big deal, if you want the latest features and your plugin supports it, then you can just go ahead..
There haven't been many big new features in 2025 and 2026. But there has been several performance improvements like array, Boolean modifiers increased performance by 250-500% new color management, slate editor improvements, the menu's are all completely overhauled, core is upgraded several notches.
And much more.
And they have fixed many bugs from old versions too..
Latest is 2026.1 which came out couple weeks ago, you can install 2025.3 if not the latest.
