Training Institutes: Attaining a Higher Level of Functioning
To help the friends managing the operations of training institutes to respond to current exigencies, this document shares some insights from the body of experience that has accrued in the Bahá’í world about implementing the main sequence of courses, the junior youth spiritual empowerment programme, and the programme for the spiritual education of children.

The document also addresses matters related to the institutional capacity of training institutes. It is hoped that in each region or country the friends responsible for the institute’s endeavours will, taking their particular circumstances and experience into consideration, use these insights to further systematize their efforts.

Shoghi Effendi: Author of Teaching Plans
The second course, held in Acuto in February 2005, under the auspices of the Counsellors in Europe and the National Spiritual Assembly of Italy, dealt with the subject of Shoghi Effendi's Teaching Plans. Over 90 Baha'i youth from 25 countries in Europe attended this course to discuss how Shoghi Effendi educated the institutions of the Faith to formulate and prosecute teaching plans, in preparation for the launching of his historic and unique Ten Year Crusade.

Some 90 youth from 25 countries, mainly European, participated in the last of the three World Order courses given at Acuto during the month of February 2006.
The purpose of this course was to consider the wide range of the works of Shoghi Effendi, both in English and in Persian / Arabic, and cast a panoramic and cursory glance over the contents of each of his major writings.

Insights from the Frontiers of Learning
When the Universal House of Justice at the start of this Five Year Plan called on the Bahá’í world to build on the extraordinary achievements of the previous five years, it described a community that had not only surpassed its numerical goals but had also achieved qualitative progress at the more profound level of culture.

Since then, the friends have extended their efforts to an increasing number of clusters, embracing ever-larger contingents of participants in a process of community building. At the close of the Plan’s second year, there is already a rich experience that has significant implications for future action.

The purpose of the present document is to review this experience and describe a number of approaches that, when applied by the friends in a manner suited to their circumstances, may enable them to accelerate the progress under way. For this review the clusters at the frontiers of learning worldwide will first be considered, then those where the friends are beginning to establish programmes of growth, and finally those where efforts are being made to increase intensity. A few words will also be said about administrative arrangements at the regional or national level that support the movement of clusters.

An Account of the Stewardship of the Hands of the Cause.

This book of messages of the Hands of the Cause, from the passing of the Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith, in November 1957, to the formation of the first Universal House of Justice in 1963, is based on the files of the Hands in the Holy Land and on my personal experience as one of the Custodians of the Bahá’í Faith for five and a half years.

It does not pretend to be a history but rather a record of the remarkable and unique accomplishments of an unpretentious group of world religious officials who, with no forewarning or preparation, suddenly, under the most tragic circumstances, found themselves called upon to seize the helm of their Faith, protect it from dissolution and schism, win the goals of an ambitious, far-flung, world ten-year-teaching campaign, which had only reached its half-way point, and steer it to the victory of unitedly electing its Supreme Body in 1963!
