Among the key strategic collaboration areas identified, both sides agreed to operationalize the BDU–Donghua University “Overseas College of Excellence in Engineering,” with BDU proposing that the Embassy help match the partnership with Chinese government funding streams under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) education pillar or the Belt and Road Initiative's human-resource development window. They also proposed a joint PhD supervision program in textile material science and water resources engineering, and agreed to advocate for a dedicated annual quota of CSC scholarships and Friendship Scholarships for BDU, targeting PhD candidates in textile and fashion engineering, water resources, agricultural economics, renewable energy and nuclear engineering, artificial intelligence, and data sciences; faculty exchange through three-to-six-month visiting professorships for BDU's Institute of Technology and the Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology (EiTEX); and short-term technical training of one to three months for laboratory technicians and industry liaison staff.
Following the discussion, the delegation toured the University's data center and the EiTEX, where members were introduced to BDU's achievements in textile innovation, applied research, and industry linkage. The visit concluded with both sides affirming a clear and shared direction for translating today's discussions into concrete joint action, reinforcing Bahir Dar University's standing as one of China's primary academic partners in Ethiopia and paving the way for a stronger, more actionable partnership in the years ahead.

ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ወደ ምርምር ተኮርና ራስ ገዝ ተቋም ለመለወጥ ያለመውን የፕሮግራም ግምገማ፣ የድጋሚ አደረጃጀትና የመዋቅር ለውጥ ሂደት የሚያብራራ የጥናት ሰነድ በማዘጋጀት ከአካዳሚክ ሠራተኞችና ከተመራማሪዎች ጋር የምክክር መድረክ አካሂዷል።
በምክክሩ የዩኒቨርሲቲው ፕሬዚዳንት ዶ/ር መንገሻ አየነ፣ የአካዳሚክ ሠራተኞች፣ ተመራማሪዎችና የዩኒቨርሲቲው ኃላፊዎች ተሳትፈዋል። መድረኩ የታቀደውን የመዋቅር ለውጥ ማዕቀፍ ለማቅረብና ከዩኒቨርሲቲው ምሁራን ገንቢ አስተያየቶችን ለመሰብሰብ ዕድል ፈጥሯል።
በመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው ዶ/ር መንገሻ አየነ የጥናት ሰነዱ ከተለያዩ የትምህርት ዘርፎች በተውጣጡ ልምድ ባላቸው ባለሙያዎች የተዋቀረ ባለብዙ ዘርፍ ኮሚቴ ለረጅም ጊዜ ያከናወነው ጥልቅና ተከታታይ ሥራ ውጤት መሆኑን ገልጸዋል። ኮሚቴውም ዩኒቨርሲቲውን ለረጅም ጊዜ የሚያገለግል የለውጥ ማዕቀፍ ለማዘጋጀት ከፍተኛ ትጋትና ቁርጠኝነት አሳይቶ መሥራቱን አስረድተዋል።
ዶ/ር መንገሻ አክለውም የታቀደው የድርጅታዊ መዋቅር ለውጥ ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲን ወደ ስትራቴጂካዊ ራዕዩ በማስጠጋት ትልቅ እመርታ እንደሚያስመዘግብ ጠቁመዋል። በተጨማሪም ይህ ማሻሻያ የዩኒቨርሲቲውን የትምህርት ጥራት፣ የምርምር አቅም፣ የአስተዳደር ሥርዓትና የተቋማዊ ብቃት በማጠናከር በሀገር ውስጥና በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ተወዳዳሪ የምርምር ዩኒቨርሲቲ እንዲሆን እንደሚያግዝ ገልጸዋል።
የዩኒቨርሲቲው የአካዳሚክ ጉዳዮች ምክትል ፕሬዚዳንት ፕሮፌሰር እሰይ ከበደ በፕሮግራም ግምገማ፣ በድጋሚ አደረጃጀትና በመዋቅር ለውጥ ሂደት ዙሪያ የተዘጋጀውን ጥናት በስፋት በማቅረብ ዓላማዎቹን፣ የትግበራ ስልቶቹንና በአካዳሚክ ፕሮግራሞችና በተቋማዊ አስተዳደር ጥራትና ውጤታማነት ላይ የሚኖረውን አስተዋፅኦ አብራርተዋል።
በተጨማሪም ፕሮፌሰር አሳምነው ጣሰው በጥናት ሰነዱ ላይ ዝርዝር ገለጻ በማቅረብ የታቀዱትን የድርጅታዊ ማሻሻያዎች ምክንያቶች፣ የተመከሩትን መዋቅራዊ ለውጦችና በዩኒቨርሲቲው የወደፊት እድገት ላይ የሚኖራቸውን ተፅዕኖ አስረድተዋል።
ከገለጻዎቹ በኋላ ተሳታፊዎች ጥያቄዎችን በማቅረብ፣ ምልከታዎቻቸውን በማጋራትና ገንቢ አስተያየቶችን በመስጠት በውይይቱ በንቃት ተሳትፈዋል። የዩኒቨርሲቲው ፕሬዚዳንትና የሚመለከታቸው ኃላፊዎችም ለተነሱት ጥያቄዎች ምላሽ በመስጠት ተጨማሪ ማብራሪያዎችን አቅርበዋል።
በመጨረሻም የዩኒቨርሲቲው ኃላፊዎች በውይይቱ የተሰበሰቡት አስተያየቶችና ምክረ ሃሳቦች በጥንቃቄ ተገምግመው በመጨረሻው የጥናት ሰነድ ውስጥ እንደሚካተቱ አረጋግጠዋል። ይህ የምክክር መድረክም ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ተቋማዊ ለውጦቹን በተሳትፎ ላይ በተመሠረተ አስተዳደርና አካታች የውሳኔ ሂደት ለማስፈጸም ያለውን ቁርጠኝነት ያሳያል፤ ይህም የትምህርት፣ የምርምርና የአስተዳደር የላቀ ብቃትን ለማጠናከር ያለመ መሆኑ ተገልጿል።
Bahir Dar University Board Approves Promotion of Seven Faculty Members to Full Professor
The Bahir Dar University Board, at its meeting held on 28 July 2026, approved the promotion of seven distinguished senior faculty members to the rank of Full Professor.
The newly promoted professors represent the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology and the Colleges of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Education, and Science. Their areas of expertise span Thermal Engineering, Soil Science, Animal Nutrition, Educational Policy and Leadership, Fisheries Science, Biomedical Sciences, and Applied Mathematics.

Stakeholders’ Workshop Advances Establishment of Pioneering Community Veterinary Pharmacy
Bahir Dar, July 23, 2026, Bahir Dar University's School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM-BDU), in partnership with Brooke Ethiopia, convened a stakeholders' consultative workshop today at Naki Hotel. The event brought together stakeholders from government offices, non-governmental organizations, and private livestock sector to refine strategies for establishing a Community Veterinary Pharmacy. The pharmacy aims to provide accessible, quality essential veterinary medicines to livestock keepers and to public and private animal health institutions in the Amhara Region.
Professor Essey Kebede, Academic Vice President of Bahir Dar University, in the opening address commended the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) for its exemplary community service despite being a relatively young school. Prof. Essey highlighted Brooke Ethiopia's valuable partnership and noted that the initiative aligns closely with the university's mission of delivering community-centered solutions through research and collaboration. He expressed confidence that the proposed pharmacy would serve as a model benefiting livestock owners, veterinary professionals, and regional agricultural productivity.
Dr. Mussie Hailemelekot presented the rationale for eststablishing the Pharmacy. He emphasized livestock's significant contribution to Ethiopia's economy, accounting for nearly 40% of agricultural GDP and about 20% of national GDP and foreign exchange earnings. He outlined persistent challenges, including limited access to essential medicines, irrational drug use, weak regulatory enforcement, antimicrobial resistance, and dependency on imports. Dr. Mussie detailed the partnership with Brooke Ethiopia, an international animal welfare organization active in Ethiopia since 2006 and collaborating with SVM-BDU since 2023.
Building on this rationale, Dr. Dehninet Terefe, from the SVM, outlined the project's vision of becoming a leading model for the sustainable delivery of essential veterinary medicines in Ethiopia. The plan follows a phased approach, establishment, service expansion, and transition to a self-sustaining enterprise with direct supply and importation capabilities, supported by a detailed budget framework. He acknowledged all collaborators for the success.
On the reflection session, Participants provided valuable insights, including: balancing community benefit with financial and commercial sustainability; strengthening local production to reduce import dependency; agumenting professional capacity, ensuring rational drug use, quality standards, fair pricing for smallholders, and a transparent supply chain; and building the technical capacity of pharmacy staff, including clinical support systems and close collaboration with stakeholders.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Zewdu Emiru thanked all participants for their active engagement and constructive input. He reaffirmed Bahir Dar University's commitment to incorporating stakeholder recommendations into the final design and implementation of the pharmacy, emphasizing that sustained multi-stakeholder collaboration, involving the university, government, development partners like Brooke Ethiopia, and the private sector, is essential for the long-term success of improving veterinary services and livestock health in the region.

Bahir Dar University Provides Training for Leadership Team on its Digital Research, Community Engagement, and Technology Transfer Management System
Bahir Dar University has conducted a training program for its college deans, vice deans, department heads, corporate and research directors following the digitalization of its research, community engagement, and technology transfer management system.
The training aimed to familiarize academic and administrative leaders with the new system and equip them with the practical skills required to use it effectively and efficiently. The organizers and system developers noted that the platform incorporates a grievance-handling module designed to address complaints and appeals related to research outcomes.
The system was designed, developed, and deployed within a year and half by a team of experts. The training brought together participants, who play key roles in the evaluation, decision-making, and approval processes related to research, community engagement, and technology transfer activities in the university. During the session, participants engaged in hands-on exercises to explore the system's core features and workflows.
According to the system development team, the platform digitally manages the entire lifespan of research, community engagement, and technology transfer projects. It covers every stage, from proposal submission and multi-level review processes to step-by-step evaluations, automated notifications to relevant stakeholders, progress report submission and evaluation, decision-making, final document submission, and ultimate approval.
One of the system's most notable features is its ability to automatically detect duplicate or highly similar proposals and research applications submitted within the university. Participants observed that this capability will significantly reduce redundancy, strengthen research integrity, and enhance the overall quality of research and innovation.
Furthermore, the system is expected to improve institutional performance by automating approval workflows, maintaining comprehensive digital archives, generating real-time reports, and enabling users to track the status of their projects at every stage.

“ዩኒቨርሲቲዎችን በምርምር ማዕከላትና መናፈሻዎች አታክልት አማካኝነት ወደ ዘላቂ የላቀ ብቃትና የብዝኅ ሕይዎት ጥበቃ መለወጥ›› በሚል መሪ ቃል የዩኒቨርሲቲው ምሁራን፣የሀገር በቀል መዳህኒት አዋቂዎች፣ተመራማሪዎች እንዲሁም ሌሎች ባለድርሻ አካላት በቤንማስ ሆቴል አመታዊ ኮንፈረንስ ተካሄደ፡፡
ጉባኤውን በንግግር የከፈቱት የ ዩኒቨርሲቲው የምርምርና ማህበረሰብ ተሳትፎ ም/ፕሬዝዳንት እንየዉ አድጎ (ፕ/ር) ባሕርዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ለባሕላዊ ሕክምና ምርምር እና ለወደፊቱ ደግሞ በመላዉ ኢትዮጵያ የብዝኅ ህይወት ጥበቃ ዙሪያ ታሪካዊ ምዕራፍ የሚያስጀምር ልዩ ቀን ነዉ ሲሉ ተናግረዋል፡፡
በፈረንጆች አቆጣጠር በ2025 ጥቅምት ወር ላይ የተፈራረምነዉን የመግባቢያ ሰነድ በመከተል ፤ዛሬ በዚህ መገኘታችሁ ይህ ትብብር በመደርደሪያ ላይ ብቻ እንዳልሆነ ግን ሕያዉ ፤ንቁና በእድገት ላይ ያለ መሆኑን ያረጋገጠ ነዉም ብለዋል፡፡
ባሕላዊ ፈዋሾቻችን የዚህን ማዕከል እዉነተኛ ልብና ነፍስ የሆናችሁ፡በሙሉ ልብ ከትዉልድ ወደ ትዉልድ እንደ ቅዱሰ አደራ የተላለፈዉ እዉቀታችሁ የስራችን መሰረታዊ ዓለት መሆኑ ነው ሲሉ ገልጸዋል፡፡
ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጽኑና የማይናወጥ ከኢትዮጵያ ብዝኅ ሕይዎት ኢንሲቲትዉት ጋር ለረጅም ጊዜ እጅ ለእጅ ተያይዘን ፤በጋራ ምርምር፤ በጋራ ሀብታችን፤ በጋራና ቀጣይነት ትርጉም ያለዉ ትብብር እንደሚሰሩም በአጽዕኖት ገልጸዋል፡፡
በኮንፈረንሱ ላይ ቁልፍ ንግግር ያደረጉት የኢትዮጵያ ብዝኅ ህይዎት ኢንስትቲዩት ም/ዳይሬክተር የሆኑት አቢዮት ብርሃኑ (ዶ/ር) ከባሕርዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጋር በመስራታቸዉ ምርምራችን ሚጨበጥና ሚዳሰስ የምርምር ዉጤት እንደሚያገኙ ገልፀው የዩኒቨርሲቲው የስነ-ሆሳዕና ምርምር ማዕከል ከሀገር በቀል መዳሕኒቶች እጽዋት በትብብር ለመስራት አጠቃላይ ትብብር ማዕቀፍ ተፈራርመን ወደስራ ከገባን ቆይተናል ብልዋል፡፡
በአባይ ወንዝ ላይ የዕጽዋት አጸድ በማቋቋም ትልቅ እድገት እንደሚያመጣና ለባሕር ዳር ወይም ለአማራ ክልል ብቻ ሳይሆን ለአገር የሚጠቅም ምርምር እንደሚካሄድም እምነታቸውን ገልጸዋል። ለተማዋና አካባቢዋም የእጽዋት እድገት ምቹም ከመሆኑም የተነሳ ይህን አጋጣሚ ወደምርምር መለዎጥ አስፈላጊ እንደሆነም ገልጸዋል፡፡
እጽዋትን ማንበር/መጠበቅ/፤የባህል መዳህኒት አዋቂዎችን እዉቀት መጠበቅና በሳይንሳዊ መንገድ ዕዉቀታቸዉን ማሳደግ ተገቢ መሆኑን እና የዕጽዋት አጸደ ማቋቋም ያስፈለገዉ ዋናዉ አላማ የስነ-ሆሳዕና የምርምር ማዕከል የሀገር በቀል መዳህኒቶችን በሳንሳዊ ምርምር መጠበቅ ፤ማሳደግ፤የሚል መሆኑን ገልጸዋል ፡፡
የዩኒቨርሲቲው የስነ-ሆሳና የምርምር ማዕከል ዳይሬክተር ደስታዉ ዳምጤ(ዶ/ር) እንዳሉት በኢትዮጵያ ዉስጥ ያለዉ የእጽዋት እዉቀት እየቀነሰ መምጣቱን እንዲሁም ሀገር በቀል ሕክምናዎች በተለያዩ ምክኒያቶች እየተዳከሙ መምጣታቸዉን ከነዚህም ዉስጥ የባህል መዳህኒት አዋቂዎች እድሚያቸዉ መግፋቱንና ለተተኪ ማዉረስ አለመቻላቸዉ፤ወጣቱም ለሀገር በቀል እዉቀቶች ያለዉ ደካማ አስተሳሰብ እንዳብነት እንደሚጠቀሱም ገልጸዋል፡፡የስነ-ሆሳዕና ምርምር ማዕከል እነዚህን የባህል አዋቂዎችን እዉቀታቸዉን በዘመናዊ መንገድ እንዲሰንዱና እንዲታገዙ ማድረግ መሆኑን ዳይሬክተሩ ገልጸዋል፡፡ በኮንፈረንሱ የመዝጊያ ንግግር ያደረጉት የዩኒቨርሲቲው የምርምርና ማሕበረሰብ አሳታፊነት ዳይሬክተር ነጻነት ፈንታሁን (ፕ/ር) እንዳሉት፡-የኮንፈረንሱ ዉይይት የሀገር በቀል ዕዉቀትን ለመጠበቅ፤በሳይንሳዊ መንገድ ለማረጋገጥ፤ለልማትና ለቀጣይ ትዉልድ ለማስተላለፍ እጅግ አስፈላጊ መሰረት የጣለ እንደሆነ ገልጸው ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ እንደምርምር ተኮር ዩኒቨርሲቲ በምርምር፤በማኅበረሰብ አሳታፊነት፤በቴክኖሎጅ ሽግግር እና ለፈጠራ ስራዎች ከፈተኛ ትኩረት እንደሚሰጥ አውስተዋል፡፡ የስነ-ሆሳዕና ምርምር ማዕከል የሀገር በቀል ዕዉቀትን ከዘመናዊ ሳይንስ ጋር በማገናኘት፤በማረጋገጥ፤በመመዝገብና ለማኅበረሰቡ ጥቅም በማዋል የላቀ ሚና እንደሚጫዎት እና የአንድ ሀገር ዘላቂ እድገት የሚረጋገጠዉ የሀገር በቀል ጥበብን ከዘመናዊ ሳይንስ ጋር በማጣመር መስራት ሲቻል መሆኑን ፕ/ሩ ገልጸዋል፡፡
ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ የመሬት አስተዳደር ኢንስቲትዩት የሙያ ብቃት ማረጋገጫ ስልጠናና ምዘና በይፋ አስጀመረ።
ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ የመሬት አስተዳደር ኢንስቲትዩት ከከተማና መሰረተ ልማት ሚኒስቴር የከተሞች ገቢ ሪፎርም ፕሮጀክት ጽ/ቤት ጋር በመተባበር፣ በአማራ ክልል የከተማ መሬት፣ ፕላን ዘርፍ እና የከተማ ፋይናንስ ባለሙያዎች ላይ ያነጣጠረ የሙያ ብቃት ማረጋገጫ ስልጠናና ምዘና ማስጀመሪያ ስነ-ስርዓት አካሂዷል።
ይህ ስልጠና ከ19/08/2018 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ እስከ 02/10/2018 ዓ.ም ድረስ የሚቆይ ሲሆን፣ በአጠቃላይ 150 ሰልጣኞች በ5 ዋና ዋና የሙያ ዘርፎች ላይ ስልጠናውን ይወስዳሉ።
የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ የጥናትና ምርምር ጉዳዮች ኮርፖሬሽን ዳይሬክተር ፕሮፌሰር ነጻነት ፈንታሁን፣ ስልጠናው የንድፈ ሀሳብ እውቀት ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ ሰልጣኞች የተማሩትን እውቀትና ልምድ በመጠቀም የመሬት አስተዳደር ስርዓቱን የማዘመንና የመመዝገብ ትልቅ ሀላፊነት እንዳለባቸው አሳስበዋል።
የፌዴራል ከተማና መሰረተ ልማት ሚኒስቴር ተወካይ ወ/ሮ ሰሎሜ ጥላሁን፣ ከተሞቻችን ዘመኑ ከሚጠይቀው አንጻር የመሬት አያያዝና ምዝገባን በማዘመን ለነዋሪዎች ግልጽና ምቹ አሰራርን መፍጠር እንደሚጠበቅባቸው ገልጸዋል።
የአማራ ክልል የመሬት ቢሮ ምክትል ኃላፊ አቶ አብሬ ከበደ፣ በሀገር ሀብትና ጊዜ ታቅዶ የተዘጋጀው ይህ ስልጠና የዘርፉን ችግሮች ለመፍታት ወሳኝ መሆኑን ጠቁመው፣ ሰልጣኞች በዲሲፕሊንና በትጋት በመሳተፍ የመፍትሔ አካል እንዲሆኑ ጥሪ አቅርበዋል።
የመሬት አስተዳደር ኢንስቲትዩት ዲን ዶ/ር ሰይድ ሁሴን፣ ኢንስቲትዩቱ በምስራቅ አፍሪካ ተወዳዳሪ ሆኖ እየሰራ መሆኑን ገልጸው፣ ለሚሰሩበት ተቋም አርአያ የሚሆኑ ብቁ ባለሙያዎችን ለማፍራት ጥረት እያደረጉ መሆኑን አስረድተዋል። ስልጠናው በዋናነት የሚያጠነጥነው የመሬት ይዞታ መለኪያና ካርታ ስራ ፣የመሬት ይዞታ ምዝገባ ስርዓት፣ የከተማ ፕላንና የመሬት አስተዳደር፣ የማይንቀሳቀስ ንብረት ዋጋ ግምት፣ የከተማ ፋይናንስ (ወይም የከተማ የገንዘብ አስተዳደር) መሆናቸውን ገልጸዋል። አክለውም ዩኒቨርሲቲያችን ለሀገራችን የከተማ ልማትና የመሬት አስተዳደር ዘርፍ የላቀ ብቃት ያላቸውን ባለሙያዎች በማፍራት የሚያደርገውን አስተዋጽኦ አጠናክሮ እንደሚቀጥል አሳውቀዋል።
Bahir Dar University Hosts 3rd BRICS Think Tank Council Ethiopia Conference
Bahir Dar University, in collaboration with the Institute of Foreign Affairs, successfully hosted the 3rd BRICS Think Tank Council (BTTC) Ethiopia Conference from 22–23 April 2026, under the theme “The Prospect of BRICS and Ethiopia’s Priorities.” The high-level forum brought together diplomats, university presidents, scholars, researchers, and policy experts for two days of rich dialogue and strategic reflection.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Zewdu Emiru, Vice President for Information and Strategic Communication at Bahir Dar University, emphasized that the conference aimed to provide vital platform for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and generating actionable recommendations on key global and national priorities, thereby strengthening economic, political, and diplomatic cooperation among BRICS member countries and partner nations. He underscored the importance of translating insights and recommendations from policymakers, scholars, and researchers into strategies that advance shared development goals.
H.E. Mr. Mohammedrafi Abaraya, Deputy Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs, in his opening remarks, highlighted the growing global significance of BRICS, noting that the bloc represents approximately half of the world’s population and over a quarter of global trade. He further emphasized Ethiopia’s emerging leadership role in Africa, particularly in areas such as technology and innovation, green development, agricultural transformation, and climate action.
In his address, H.E. Ambassador Minelik Alemu, Special Policy Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, described the conference as a vital platform for Ethiopia to expand its economic, research, and diplomatic engagement, while fostering meaningful knowledge exchange with new global partners.
Over the two days, participants engaged in substantive discussions across a range of critical global and national priorities. Parallel breakout sessions enabled deeper engagement, culminating in forward-looking recommendations that will be submitted to the 18th BRICS Academic Forum (2026) and subsequently to the XVIII BRICS Summit.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Mengesha Ayene, Bahir Dar University, reflected on the depth and quality of the discussions, noting that the conference successfully created a platform for critical reflection, knowledge exchange, and strategic alignment between Ethiopia and BRICS partners. He highlighted the importance of addressing global challenges, ranging from climate change and digital transformation to inclusive economic governance, through collaborative, research-driven, and policy-informed approaches.
Dr. Mengesha reaffirmed Bahir Dar University’s strong commitment to supporting such high-level intellectual engagements, positioning the University as a hub for policy dialogue, research collaboration, and international partnership. He further emphasized the University’s readiness to contribute to evidence-based policymaking and regional and global knowledge systems.
Following the conference, participants visited Bahir Dar University’s Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology (EiTEX), where they were introduced to the University’s achievements in textile innovation, research, and industry linkage. The visit, complemented by a brief city tour of Bahir Dar, was met with highly positive reflections from participants, who praised the University’s academic excellence, innovation ecosystem, and the city’s unique cultural and natural appeal.
U.S. Alumni Engagement Highlights Impact, Innovation, and Community Transformation
The visit of H.E. Ervin Massinga, U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, to Bahir Dar University featured an engaging and insightful dialogue with U.S. program alumni hosted at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT). The session brought together a dynamic group of beneficiaries of U.S.-funded programs, entrepreneurs, scholars, and faculty members who have participated in various academic and professional exchanges.
The discussion provided a powerful platform for alumni to share how their experiences in U.S.-supported programs have translated into meaningful contributions at the local level. Participants highlighted their active roles in transferring knowledge and skills to students and communities, supporting youth entrepreneurship, start-up development, and innovation ecosystems, and driving business development initiatives and community-based solutions.
A key highlight of the session was the role of the U.S. Alumni Bahir Dar Chapter, hosted at BiT, which serves as a growing network for collaboration, mentorship, and sustained engagement among alumni.
The discussion also underscored the importance of strengthening platforms such as the American Corner, recognized as a vital resource for youth learning, access to information, and cross-cultural exchange. Participants emphasized the need to further expand such initiatives to maximize their impact.
Both the Ambassador and the participants reflected on the importance of sustained partnerships, alumni engagement, and investment in human capital as key drivers of development. The session concluded with a shared vision to further strengthen alumni networks and enhance collaboration between U.S. programs and Bahir Dar University in fostering innovation, leadership, and community transformation.

Bahir Dar University (BDU) had the pleasure of hosting a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ethiopia, led by Mr. Sun Mingxi, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), for a strategic dialogue and working visit with the University's team, led by its President, Dr. Mengesha Ayene. The seven-member delegation's visit highlighted the depth and dynamism of the growing partnership between BDU and its Chinese academic and institutional partners.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Mengesha Ayene remarked that the visit would open new horizons in joint research centers, technology transfer, staff mobility, and cultural exchange, further reinforcing the University's longstanding relationship with its Chinese partners. He noted that the visit carried great significance both for strengthening BDU's already established partnerships with Chinese institutions and for connecting the University with new ones.
The discussion, led by Dr. Mengesha, centered on several strategic pillars for deepening collaboration. Beginning with research and innovation, he proposed a joint innovation center for sustainable agriculture and water resource management, drawing on BDU's position within the Lake Tana and Blue Nile basin, and highlighted cooperation in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and engineering-focused technical education. On academic mobility and capacity building, BDU proposed a sandwich PhD co-supervision model alongside short-term technical training placements in China for faculty and technical staff facilitated through the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC). Dr. Mengesha underscored BDU's existing industry-collaboration model in textile and fashion technology with Donghua University as an example of the partnership model the University hopes to extend.
Turning to cultural and people-to-people ties, which he described as a human bridge between the two sides, Dr. Mengesha proposed the establishment of a Confucius Classroom or Chinese Language Center at BDU. He requested the Embassy's support in facilitating best-practice exchange with Ethiopian institutions that already host Confucius Classrooms, along with the provision of Chinese-language teachers, and noted the Embassy's continued role in linking BDU with relevant Chinese institutions. On partnership mechanisms, he noted that BDU currently maintains active collaboration with 13 Chinese institutions and organizations, as well as cooperation under the China-Ethiopia Inter-Governmental Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation program. He welcomed the Embassy's continued role in connecting BDU with additional Chinese institutions and affirmed the University's readiness to draft a joint implementation roadmap with the Embassy's education section.
For his part, Mr. Sun Mingxi briefed the University on key national-level frameworks shaping cooperation, including a newly signed five-year Ethiopia-China agreement integrating Chinese language education into the national curriculum, and a bilateral memorandum of understanding on digital transformation advancing fiber infrastructure, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data under the Digital Ethiopia 2030 framework. The delegation affirmed its readiness to expand access to CSC opportunities through both Embassy/bilateral and university-to-university routes, describing the CSC as a bridge for BDU to engage with more Chinese universities. Mr. Sun also noted the Embassy's commitment to facilitating visa processing for outbound Ethiopian student and scholar applicants and reiterated readiness to explore prospects for a Confucius Classroom based on the signed agreement with Ethiopia.
The Bahir Dar University Board, at its meeting held on 28 July 2026, approved the promotion of seven distinguished senior faculty members to the rank of Full Professor.

Alumni Success Story: From a Dissertation on Waste to Building a Company that Creates Wealth
Dr. Medhanit Mamaye, a graduate of the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology(BiT-BDU), earned her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 2001 E.C. She later pursued graduate studies at Addis Ababa University, where she obtained both her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Before becoming an entrepreneur, she served as a researcher and instructor at Hawssa University.
Building on her Ph.D. dissertation, "Pulp and Paper Production from Non-Wood Biomass: Sustainable Eco-Packaging," Dr. Medhanit founded Prim Pulp and Paper Manufacturing PLC, where she currently serves as its CEO. Her company produces pulp and paper products, with an initial focus on manufacturing paper bags as an environmentally friendly substitute to currently banned plastic bags.

Funded under the European Union’s Erasmus+ KA171 International Credit Mobility (ICM) student program, this collaboration bridges BDU’s academic talent with one of Turkey's leading research institutions, fostering international exposure, shared academic resources, and cross-cultural development.
We are currently inviting applications from highly qualified BDU students to spend the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic Year studying at METU.

Monthly Stipend: €800 per month to cover living expenses.

Þ MSc / PhD Students: Eligible if they plan to take courses OR have already independently secured a Research Supervisor at METU who has provided a signed acceptance letter. Note: Graduate students cannot graduate from METU; they return to BDU to defend their thesis.
Þ English Language Proficiency: A minimum of B1 level according to the CEFR framework is strictly required.
Þ Academic Load: Selected students are required to take a full workload of at least 30 ECTS credits at METU.

The strategic partnership between Bahir Dar University (BDU) and the Alliance for Research, Innovation and Education for Africa (AfRIE) has received international recognition through a feature in the July 2026 issue of Nature Methods, one of the world's leading scientific journals. The article, titled "They Build Science Capacity in Africa for Africa," highlights how the collaboration is strengthening genomics education, biomedical research, and scientific capacity in Ethiopia and across Africa.
Established through a shared vision of building scientific capacity in Africa, the BDU–AfRIE partnership has successfully launched Ethiopia's pioneering Master's Program in Public Health Genomics at Bahir Dar University. The program brings together internationally renowned scientists and local experts to equip healthcare professionals, researchers, and laboratory scientists with advanced knowledge and practical skills in genomics, bioinformatics, precision medicine, and collaborative research.
The Nature Methods feature also recognizes Bahir Dar University's growing role as an emerging research-intensive university through expanded international partnerships, interdisciplinary research, and investments in state-of-the-art facilities such as the Tana Diagnostic and Research Center, which is strengthening research and graduate training in biomedical and genomics sciences.

ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ (ሐምሌ 1/2018 ዓ.ም) — ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ እና የዓለም አቀፉ የቦይንግ (NYSE:BA) ኩባንያ በፍጥነት እያደገ የሚገኘውን የአቪዬሽን ዘርፍ ይበልጥ ለማጠናከር፣ በኤሮስፔስ ምህንድስና ትምህርት ፈጠራን ለማበረታታት እንዲሁም ብቁ የሰው ኃይል ለማፍራት የሚያስችል የረጅም ጊዜ የትብብር ስምምነት ተፈራርመዋል።
ይህ ስምምነት በባሕር ዳር ቴክኖሎጂ ኢንስቲትዩት (BiT) ውስጥ "የአቪዬሽን ፈጠራ ማዕከል" (Aviation Innovation Center) ለመገንባት የሚያስችል ሲሆን፣ ማዕከሉ በተግባር ላይ የተመሰረተ ትምህርት፣ ምርምር፣ ፈጠራ እንዲሁም ለጀማሪ የቴክኖሎጂ እና የፈጠራ ሥራዎች የድጋፍና የማብቃት (Incubation) አገልግሎት የሚሰጥ ይሆናል። የፊርማ ሥነ ሥርዓቱን የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶክተር መንገሻ አየነ እጅጉ እና የቦይንግ አፍሪካ ዋና ዳይሬክተር አምባሳደር ሄኖክ ተፈራ ሻውል ያከናወኑት ሲሆን፣ የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ቴክኖሎጂ ኢንስቲትዩት ሳይንቲፊክ ዳይሬክተር ዶክተር ምትኩ ዳምጤ ስለ ተቋሙ አጠቃላይ ገለጻ አድርገዋል።
የቦይንግ አፍሪካ ዋና ዳይሬክተር አምባሳደር ሄኖክ ተፈራ እንደገለጹት፣ በሚቀጥሉት ሁለት አስርት ዓመታት የአፍሪካ አየር መንገዶች ከ1,200 በላይ አዳዲስ አውሮፕላኖችን እና ከ74,000 የሚበልጡ አዲስ የአቪዬሽን ባለሙያዎችን ይፈልጋሉ። ኢትዮጵያ በዘርፉ ከአፍሪካ ግንባር ቀደም መሆኗንና ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ደግሞ አንጋፋ የኢንጂነሪንግ ተቋም መሆኑን ጠቅሰው፣ ትብብሩ ተሰጥኦ ላላቸው ወጣቶች የሙያ ዕድገት ከመፍጠሩም በላይ እየተስፋፋ የመጣውን የኢትዮጵያ አየር መንገድ አገልግሎት፣ የአየር ማረፊያ መሠረተ ልማት እና የኤሮስፔስ አካላት ማምረቻ ኢንዱስትሪ ዕድገትን ይደግፋል።
የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶክተር መንገሻ አየነ በበኩላቸው ትብብሩን "ታሪካዊ ምዕራፍ" በማለት የገለጹት ሲሆን፣ በኤሮስፔስ ትምህርት፣ ምርምርና የቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግር በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ተወዳዳሪ የሆነ ማዕከል ለመገንባት በጋራ እንደሚሠሩ አረጋግጠዋል። ይህ ማዕከል የብቁ ሰው ኃይል ልማትንና የቴክኖሎጂ ንግድን በመደገፍ ለሀገራዊ ኢንዱስትሪ ሽግግር አስተዋፅኦ የሚያበረክት ሲሆን፣ ቦይንግ ቀደም ሲል በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ በሂሳብና ሳይንስ (STEM) ትምህርት የጀመረውንና ባለፉት አምስት ዓመታት ከ14,700 በላይ ወጣቶችን ተጠቃሚ ያደረገውን ተግባር ይበልጥ ያጠናክረዋል።

ጉባኤውን በንግግር የከፈቱት የ ዩኒቨርሲቲው የምርምርና ማህበረሰብ ተሳትፎ ም/ፕሬዝዳንት እንየዉ አድጎ (ፕ/ር) ባሕርዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ለባሕላዊ ሕክምና ምርምር እና ለወደፊቱ ደግሞ በመላዉ ኢትዮጵያ የብዝኅ ህይወት ጥበቃ ዙሪያ ታሪካዊ ምዕራፍ የሚያስጀምር ልዩ ቀን ነዉ ሲሉ ተናግረዋል፡፡
በፈረንጆች አቆጣጠር በ2025 ጥቅምት ወር ላይ የተፈራረምነዉን የመግባቢያ ሰነድ በመከተል ፤ዛሬ በዚህ መገኘታችሁ ይህ ትብብር በመደርደሪያ ላይ ብቻ እንዳልሆነ ግን ሕያዉ ፤ንቁና በእድገት ላይ ያለ መሆኑን ያረጋገጠ ነዉም ብለዋል፡፡
ባሕላዊ ፈዋሾቻችን የዚህን ማዕከል እዉነተኛ ልብና ነፍስ የሆናችሁ፡በሙሉ ልብ ከትዉልድ ወደ ትዉልድ እንደ ቅዱሰ አደራ የተላለፈዉ እዉቀታችሁ የስራችን መሰረታዊ ዓለት መሆኑ ነው ሲሉ ገልጸዋል፡፡
ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጽኑና የማይናወጥ ከኢትዮጵያ ብዝኅ ሕይዎት ኢንሲቲትዉት ጋር ለረጅም ጊዜ እጅ ለእጅ ተያይዘን ፤በጋራ ምርምር፤ በጋራ ሀብታችን፤ በጋራና ቀጣይነት ትርጉም ያለዉ ትብብር እንደሚሰሩም በአጽዕኖት ገልጸዋል፡፡
በኮንፈረንሱ ላይ ቁልፍ ንግግር ያደረጉት የኢትዮጵያ ብዝኅ ህይዎት ኢንስትቲዩት ም/ዳይሬክተር የሆኑት አቢዮት ብርሃኑ (ዶ/ር) ከባሕርዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጋር በመስራታቸዉ ምርምራችን ሚጨበጥና ሚዳሰስ የምርምር ዉጤት እንደሚያገኙ ገልፀው የዩኒቨርሲቲው የስነ-ሆሳዕና ምርምር ማዕከል ከሀገር በቀል መዳሕኒቶች እጽዋት በትብብር ለመስራት አጠቃላይ ትብብር ማዕቀፍ ተፈራርመን ወደስራ ከገባን ቆይተናል ብልዋል፡፡
በአባይ ወንዝ ላይ የዕጽዋት አጸድ በማቋቋም ትልቅ እድገት እንደሚያመጣና ለባሕር ዳር ወይም ለአማራ ክልል ብቻ ሳይሆን ለአገር የሚጠቅም ምርምር እንደሚካሄድም እምነታቸውን ገልጸዋል። ለተማዋና አካባቢዋም የእጽዋት እድገት ምቹም ከመሆኑም የተነሳ ይህን አጋጣሚ ወደምርምር መለዎጥ አስፈላጊ እንደሆነም ገልጸዋል፡፡
እጽዋትን ማንበር/መጠበቅ/፤የባህል መዳህኒት አዋቂዎችን እዉቀት መጠበቅና በሳይንሳዊ መንገድ ዕዉቀታቸዉን ማሳደግ ተገቢ መሆኑን እና የዕጽዋት አጸደ ማቋቋም ያስፈለገዉ ዋናዉ አላማ የስነ-ሆሳዕና የምርምር ማዕከል የሀገር በቀል መዳህኒቶችን በሳንሳዊ ምርምር መጠበቅ ፤ማሳደግ፤የሚል መሆኑን ገልጸዋል ፡፡
የዩኒቨርሲቲው የስነ-ሆሳና የምርምር ማዕከል ዳይሬክተር ደስታዉ ዳምጤ(ዶ/ር) እንዳሉት በኢትዮጵያ ዉስጥ ያለዉ የእጽዋት እዉቀት እየቀነሰ መምጣቱን እንዲሁም ሀገር በቀል ሕክምናዎች በተለያዩ ምክኒያቶች እየተዳከሙ መምጣታቸዉን ከነዚህም ዉስጥ የባህል መዳህኒት አዋቂዎች እድሚያቸዉ መግፋቱንና ለተተኪ ማዉረስ አለመቻላቸዉ፤ወጣቱም ለሀገር በቀል እዉቀቶች ያለዉ ደካማ አስተሳሰብ እንዳብነት እንደሚጠቀሱም ገልጸዋል፡፡የስነ-ሆሳዕና ምርምር ማዕከል እነዚህን የባህል አዋቂዎችን እዉቀታቸዉን በዘመናዊ መንገድ እንዲሰንዱና እንዲታገዙ ማድረግ መሆኑን ዳይሬክተሩ ገልጸዋል፡፡ በኮንፈረንሱ የመዝጊያ ንግግር ያደረጉት የዩኒቨርሲቲው የምርምርና ማሕበረሰብ አሳታፊነት ዳይሬክተር ነጻነት ፈንታሁን (ፕ/ር) እንዳሉት፡-የኮንፈረንሱ ዉይይት የሀገር በቀል ዕዉቀትን ለመጠበቅ፤በሳይንሳዊ መንገድ ለማረጋገጥ፤ለልማትና ለቀጣይ ትዉልድ ለማስተላለፍ እጅግ አስፈላጊ መሰረት የጣለ እንደሆነ ገልጸው ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ እንደምርምር ተኮር ዩኒቨርሲቲ በምርምር፤በማኅበረሰብ አሳታፊነት፤በቴክኖሎጅ ሽግግር እና ለፈጠራ ስራዎች ከፈተኛ ትኩረት እንደሚሰጥ አውስተዋል፡፡ የስነ-ሆሳዕና ምርምር ማዕከል የሀገር በቀል ዕዉቀትን ከዘመናዊ ሳይንስ ጋር በማገናኘት፤በማረጋገጥ፤በመመዝገብና ለማኅበረሰቡ ጥቅም በማዋል የላቀ ሚና እንደሚጫዎት እና የአንድ ሀገር ዘላቂ እድገት የሚረጋገጠዉ የሀገር በቀል ጥበብን ከዘመናዊ ሳይንስ ጋር በማጣመር መስራት ሲቻል መሆኑን ፕ/ሩ ገልጸዋል፡፡
ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ሙሉ የ4.00 ውጤት (perfect 4:00) ላስመዘገቡ 111 ተማሪዎች እውቅና እና ሽልማት ሰጠ
(ሚያዝያ 17/2018 ዓ.ም - ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ) ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ የትምህርት ጥራትን ለማስጠበቅና ተወዳዳሪ ተማሪዎችን ለማፍራት በሚያደርገው ጥረት፣ በዩኒቨርሲቲው ታሪክ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ በ2018 ዓ.ም የመጀመሪያ መንፈቀ ዓመት ሙሉ የ4.00 CGPA ውጤት ያስመዘገቡ 111 ተማሪዎችን የክብር ዕውቅናና ሽልማት ሰጥቷል። በዚህ ደመቅ ባለ መርሃ ግብር ላይ ከተሸለሙት ተማሪዎች መካከል 11ዱ ሴቶች መሆናቸው ተገልጿል።
የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር መንገሻ አየነ ለተሸላሚዎቹ ባስተላለፉት ልዩ መልዕክት፣ ውጤቱ የአካዳሚክ ስኬት ብቻ ሳይሆን ራስን የማክበር መገለጫ መሆኑን ገልጸዋል። ተማሪዎቹ ይህንን ውጤታማ ልምድ አዳብረው እንዲቀጥሉ ያሳሰቡት ፕሬዝዳንቱ፣ ብቃትና ስኬት ለግለሰብ ብቻ ሳይሆን ለሀገርም ትልቅ ሀብት መሆኑን አስምረውበታል። አክለውም "ኢትዮጵያ የነገ የኖቤል ሎሬቶች ከእናንተ መካከል ትጠብቃለች" በማለት፣ ተማሪዎቹ በየተሰማሩበት የሙያ መስክ አገርን የሚያስጠሩ ባለሙያዎች እንዲሆኑ የሞራል ጥሪ አቅርበዋል።
የአካዳሚክ ጉዳዮች ምክትል ፕሬዝዳንት ፕሮፌሰር እሰይ ከበደ በበኩላቸው በእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ መልዕክታቸው እንደገለጹት፣ የዕውቅና መርሃ ግብሩ ዋነኛ ዓላማ ተማሪዎች ያላቸውን ዕውቀት ይዘው እንዲቀጥሉና ለበለጠ ትጋት እንዲነሳሱ ለማድረግ ነው። ይህ ታሪካዊ ውጤት በአመራሩና በተማሪዎች መካከል በተደረገ የተቀናጀ የቅርብ ክትትል የተመዘገበ መሆኑንም ፕሮፌሰሩ ጠቁመዋል። ምክትል ፕሬዚደንቱ አክለውም የተማሪዎቹ ስኬት ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ለትምህርት ጥራት እና አካዳሚያዊ ልሕቀት ለሚሰጠው ትኩረት ማዕከል መሆኑን ገልጸው፣ ውጤቱ በተለያዩ ፈተናዎች፣ አለመረጋጋቶችና ግጭቶች መካከል ሆኖ የተገኘ፣ በዲሲፕሊን የታጀበ ጥናት፣ የጠንካራ ቁርጠኝነትና የማያቋርጥ ጥረት ውጤት መሆኑን አስገንዝበዋል። "ይህንን ስኬት በድንገት ያገኛችሁት ሳይሆን በመስዋዕትነት፣ በጽናትና በዓላማችሁ ላይ በማተኮር ያመጣችሁት ነው" ያሉት ፕሮፌሰሩ፣ ውጤቱ ተማሪዎች ቁርጠኛ ከሆኑ የላቀ የትምህርት ስኬት ማምጣት እንደሚቻል ማሳያ መሆኑን ገልጸው እንኳን ደስ ያላችሁ ብለዋል። የቤተሰቦቻቸው ድጋፍ፣ ማበረታቻና ምክር በትምህርት ጉዟቸው ወቅት ተነሳሽነትን፣ ዲሲፕሊንን እና በራስ መተማመንን እንድታዳብሩ ትልቅ እገዛ ማድረጉንም አድናቆታቸውን ችረዋል።
በተመሳሳይ ሁኔታ የተማሪዎች ህብረት ምክትል ፕሬዝዳንት ተማሪ ብርሃነመስቀል የእንኳን ደስ አላችሁ መልዕክት ያስተላለፈ ሲሆን፣ ተማሪዎች በዩኒቨርሲቲ ቆይታቸው በሳይንሳዊ ምርምር እንዲሳተፉ የሚያግዙ አዳዲስ ፕሮጀክቶች መጀመራቸውን ገልጾ፤ ዕውቀትና መሪነት አብረው የሚሄዱ በመሆናቸው አገርና ሕዝብን የማስከበር ኃላፊነት ቅድሚያ ሊሰጠው እንደሚገባ አሳስቧል። ከተሸላሚዎች መካከል አስተያየቷን የሰጠችው የሁለተኛ ዓመት የሶፍትዌር ኢንጂነሪንግ ተማሪ በለጡ ደረስ፣ የተሰጣት ዕውቅና ውጤቷን ለማስቀጠል ትልቅ ጉልበት እንደሚሆናት ገልጻለች። ተማሪዋ አክላም የላቀ ውጤት ያመጡ ተማሪዎች በጋራ ተሰባስበው ዕውቀትና ልምድ የሚለዋወጡበት ምቹ ሁኔታ ቢፈጠር ያላቸውን አቅም ይበልጥ እንደሚያሳድገው ጠቁማለች።
"ከዓባይ ጓዳ ጥበብ ሲቀዳ" በሚለው መሪ ቃሉ የሚታወቀው ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ፣ በአሁኑ ወቅት በዘጠኝ ግቢዎችና በ18 የአካዳሚክ ክፍሎች ከ26,000 በላይ ተማሪዎችን በማስተማር ላይ ይገኛል። ዩኒቨርሲቲው በአፍሪካ ቀዳሚ የምርምር ተቋም ለመሆን በሚያደርገው ጉዞ ውስጥ እንዲህ ያሉ የላቀ ውጤት የሚያስመዘግቡ ተማሪዎች ሚና ከፍተኛ መሆኑ በዕለቱ ተገልጿል።
6ኛው ዓለም አቀፍ የጤና ምርምር ኮንፈረንስ በባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ በድምቀት ተካሄደ

የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ የህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ 6ኛውን ዓለም አቀፍ የጤና ምርምር ኮንፈረንስ በዩኒቨርሲቲው ጥበብ ህንፃ አዳራሽ በታላቅ ድምቀት አስጀመረ።
ኮንፈረንሱ በዘርፉ ያሉትን ወቅታዊ የጤና ችግሮች በመለየት፣ በሳይንሳዊ ጥናት የተደገፉ መፍትሄዎችን በማፍለቅ እና የባለሙያዎችን የዓመታት ተሞክሮ በመለዋወጥ ረገድ ወሳኝ ሚና እንደሚኖረው ታምኖበታል። በስነ-ስርዓቱ ላይ የዩኒቨርሲቲው ከፍተኛ አመራሮች፣ ከተለያየዩ ዓለም አቀፍና የሀገራችን ክፍሎች የመጡ ምሁራን፣ ተመራማሪዎች፣ የአማራ ክልል የህብረተሰብ ጤና ኢንስቲትዩት ባለሙያዎች እና ሌሎች ጥሪ የተደረገላቸው እንግዶች ተገኝተዋል።
በመክፈቻው መርሃ ግብሩ ላይ የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ ንግግር ያደረጉት የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ የህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ ዋና ስራ አስፈጻሚ ዶ/ር በቃሉ ዉበሸት፣ ላለፉት ሁለት አስርት ዓመታት የጤናው ዘርፍ በውስጣዊና ውጫዊ ተግዳሮቶች ውስጥ ሆኖም አመርቂ ውጤቶችን ማስመዝገቡን ገልጸዋል።
በተለይም የእናቶችና የህፃናትን ሞት በመቀነስ ረገድ የተመዘገበው ስኬት ተቋሙ ለኅብረተሰቡ ያለው የላቀ አስተዋጽኦ ማሳያ መሆኑን አንስተዋል። "የህክምና ሳይንስን ከምርምር ጋር አቀናጅተን በመስራታችን፣ የማህበረሰብ አገልግሎታችንን ወደ ተሻለ ደረጃ ማድረስ ችለናል፤ ይህ ኮንፈረንስም ይህንኑ ተሞክሮ ለማስቀጠል ትልቅ አጋጣሚ ነው" ብለዋል።
በመርሃ ግብሩ ላይ በመገኘት የመክፈቻ ንግግር ያደረጉት የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር መንገሻ አየነ በበኩላቸው፣ ዩኒቨርሲቲው በአገራችን ከሚገኙ የጥናትና ምርምር ማዕከላት መካከል ግንባር ቀደም መሆኑን አስታውሰዋል። ጥበበ ግዮን ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል ለክልሉ ህዝብ ብቻ ሳይሆን ለሀገር አቀፍ የህክምና አገልግሎት ያለውን ፋይዳ በመጠቆም፣ ኮንፈረንሱ እንዲሁ የውይይት መድረክ ብቻ ሳይሆን ሳይንሳዊ ግኝቶች የሚቀመጡበት መድረክ መሆኑን አስገንዝበዋል።
"ይህ መድረክ የኅብረተሰባችንን የጤና ችግሮች ለመቅረፍ የሚረዱ፣ በምርምር የተረጋገጡ ሳይንሳዊ መፍትሄዎችን በማፍለቅ ፖሊሲ አውጪዎችና የጤና ባለሙያዎች የሚመሩበትን አቅጣጫ ይጠቁማል" ሲሉም አክለዋል።
የአማራ ክልል የህብረተሰብ ጤና ኢንስቲትዩት ዋና ዳይሬክተር አቶ በላይ በዛብህ፣ በበኩላቸው የኢንስቲትዩቱንና የዩኒቨርሲቲውን የትብብር ስራ አድንቀዋል። በጤናው ዘርፍ ውጤታማ ለመሆን ተቋማዊ ትብብር ወሳኝ መሆኑን የገለጹት ዳይሬክተሩ፣ ኮንፈረንሱ በጤናው ዘርፍ የሚታዩ ክፍተቶችን ለመሙላት እና የህዝብ ጤና ችግሮችን ለመፍታት የሚኖረው ሚና ከፍተኛ መሆኑን ገልጸዋል።
በዛሬው ዕለት በተካሄደው የውይይት መድረክ፡-በጤናው ዘርፍ የተሰሩ አዳዲስ ዓለም አቀፍና አገር በቀል ምርምሮች፣ከምርምር የተገኙ ውጤቶች ወደ ተግባር የሚለወጡበት እንዲሁም በተመራማሪዎችና በተግባር አራማጆች መካከል የልምድ ልውውጥ የተካሄደበት ሲሆን ይህ መድረክ በአካዳሚክ ማህበረሰቡ እና በጤና ባለሙያዎች መካከል የዕውቀት ሽግግር በማድረግ፣ በማስረጃ የተደገፈ የጤና አሰራርን (Evidence-based practice) በስፋት ለማስረጽ ትልቅ ፋይዳ አለው ተብሏል።
ኮንፈረንሱ ነገም ተጠናክሮ የሚቀጥል ሲሆን፣ የጤናው ዘርፍ ባለሙያዎች የነገውን የጤና ስርዓት ለመቅረጽ የሚያስችሉ ሀሳቦችን እንደሚያንሸራሽሩ ይጠበቃል።
የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ እና የኢትዮጵያ አካል ጉዳተኞች ልማት ማህበር (ECDD) አካል ጉዳተኞችን በዘላቂነት ለመደገፍ የሚያስችል የስምምነት ሰነድ ተፈራረሙ

የባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ከአገር በቀሉ የኢትዮጵያ አካል ጉዳተኞች ልማት ማህበር (Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development/ECDD) ጋር ለአካል ጉዳተኞች የገንዘብ፣ የሙያ እና የቴክኖሎጂ ድጋፍ ለማድረግ የሚያስችል የመግባቢያ ስምምነት ተፈራረመ።
በፊርማ ሥነ-ሥርዓቱ ላይ የዩኒቨርሲቲው ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር መንገሻ አየነ፣ የዘርፈ ብዙ ጉዳዮች ዳይሬክተር ዶ/ር ሙሉጎጃም ወንዲፍራው፣ የECDD ፕሮግራም ዳይሬክተር አቶ ለጋሱ ልዑልሰገድ እና ሌሎች የሥራ ኃላፊዎች ተገኝተዋል።
ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ አካል ጉዳተኛ ተማሪዎችን በመቀበልና ምቹ የመማር ማስተማር ሁኔታን በመፍጠር ረጅም ልምድ ያለው ተቋም እንደሆነ ግልጸው ECDD እኛን አምኖ ይህን ትልቅ ኃላፊነት በመስጠቱ እናመሰግናለን ብለዋል ዶ/ር መንገሻ፡፡ አክለውም ስምምነቱ ለዩኒቨርሲቲው ተማሪዎች ብቻ ሳይሆን በክልሉ ለሚገኙ አካል ጉዳተኞች ሁሉ ተስፋ የሚሰጥ ነው ብለዋል።
ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲን የመረጥነው በአካል ጉዳተኞች ጉዳይ ላይ ከፍተኛ ግንዛቤ ያላቸው ምሁራን ስላሉት፣ ተፅዕኖ ፈጣሪ ተቋም በመሆኑና ለምናከናውናቸው የሥልጠናና የጥናት ሥራዎች የዩኒቨርሲቲውን ምሁራን ለመጠቀም እንደሆነ የኢትዮጵያ አካል ጉዳተኞች ልማት ማህበር ፕሮግራም ዳይሬክተር አቶ ለጋሱ ልዑልሰገድ ገልጸዋል። ዳይሬክተሩ አክለውም ለዚህ ታላቅ ተቋም የራሳችንን ጠብታ አስተዋፅዖ ማበርከታቸው ትልቅ ኩራት እንደሚሰማቸውና ድጋፋቸውን አጠናክረው እንደሚቀጥሉ ገልጸዋል፡፡
ስምምነትቱ በተለይ በአካል ጉዳተኞች ዙሪያ የሚሰሩ ሥራዎችን ይበልጥ ውጤታማ ለማድረግ ያለመ ሲሆን፣ የሚከተሉትን ዋና ዋና ነጥቦች አካቷል፦ አካል ጉዳተኞች አስፈላጊውን መረጃና ድጋፍ የሚያገኙበት ማዕከል በዩኒቨርሲቲው ውስጥ ማቋቋም፣አካል ጉዳተኞችን ያካተተ የጤና አገልግሎት እና የኑሮ ማሻሻያ (Livelihood) ሥራዎች ላይ በትኩረት መሥራት፣ አካል ጉዳተኞች በዘመናዊ ቴክኖሎጂ የታገዘ ትምህርትና ሥልጠና እንዲያገኙ ማስቻል እና በዩኒቨርሲቲው የሚገኙ ምሁራን ያላቸውን ዕውቀት በመጠቀም ለአካል ጉዳተኞችና ለባለሙያዎች ሥልጠና መስጠትን የሚያካትት እንደሆነ በመርሃ ግብሩ ላይ ተገልጿል።

ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ዘርፈ ብዙ ጉዳዮች ዳይሬክቶሬት ከ ፀሐይ መታሰቢያ ፋውንዴሽን ጋር በመተባበር በዩኒቨርሲቲው ለሚገኙ ሴት አካል ጉዳተኛ ተማሪዎች የህይወት ክህሎት የስልጠና መርሀግብርከመጋቢት 29-30/2018 ዓ.ም አካሂዷል።
በስልጠናው መርሃ ግብር ላይ የተገኙት የዘርፈ ብዙ ጉዳዮች ዳይሬክቶሬት ዳይሬክተር ሙሉጎጃም ወንድይፍራው (ዶ/ር) እንደገለጹት፤ ባሕር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ በአገሪቱ ውስጥ አካታች የትምህርት ስርዓትን ተግባራዊ በማድረግ ረገድ ግንባር ቀደም ተቋም መሆኑና ዩኒቨርሲቲው አካል ጉዳተኛ ተማሪዎች በትምህርታቸው ስኬታማ እንዲሆኑና በተለያዩ ማህበራዊና ስነ-ልቦናዊ ጫናዎች ምክንያት ወደ ኋላ እንዳይቀሩ ዘርፈ ብዙ ስራዎችን እያከናወነ መሆኑን አስገንዝበዋል።
ዳይሬክተሯ አክለውም፦ከዚህ ቀደም ከአጋር አካላት ጋር በመተባበር የቁሳቁስ እና የገንዘብ ድጋፎች ሲደረጉ መቆየታቸውን፤ከኢትዮጵያ አካል ጉዳተኞች ማህበር ጋር በመተባበር በግቢው ውስጥ ያሉ መሰረተ ልማቶች ለአካል ጉዳተኞች ምቹ እንዲሆኑ መደረጉንና አሁን እየተሰጠ ያለው ስልጠና ደግሞ ተማሪዎቹ በራስ መተማመናቸው እንዲጎለብትና ካደጉበት ማህበረሰብም ሆነ ከራሳቸው የሚመጡ ተጽዕኖዎችን አሸንፈው እንዲወጡ የሚያግዝ መሆኑን ገልጸዋል።
ስልጠናውን እየሰጡ የሚገኙት የብሩህ ዜጋ መንግስታዊ ያልሆነ ድርጅት ዳይሬክተር አቶ እስክንድር ካሳ በበኩላቸው፤ ስልጠናው ምንም እንኳ አሁን ላይ ትኩረቱን አይነ ስውራን ተማሪዎች ላይ ቢያደርግም፣ ይዘቱ ግን ማንኛውም ሰው ተፈጥሯዊ ማንነቱን ተጠቅሞ በህይወቱ የሚያጋጥሙትን ፈተናዎች በውስጣዊ ጥበብ እንዲፈታ የሚያስችል ነው ብለዋል።
"ተማሪዎቹ ያሉባቸውን ተፈጥሯዊ ሁኔታዎች በፀጋ እንዲቀበሉ፣ ጠንካራ የሰብእና እንዲኖራቸው እና ለማንኛውም ውጫዊ ፈተና የማይበገሩ እንዲሆኑ ለማድረግ እየሰራን ነው" ሲሉ አቶ እስክንድር ገልጸዋል።
ዩኒቨርሲቲው በቀጣይም በተማሪዎች ዘንድ የሚታዩ የክህሎት ክፍተቶችን በመለየት መሰል ስልጠናዎችን አጠናክሮ እንደሚቀጥል ታውቋል። ይህ ስልጠና ተማሪዎች በዩኒቨርሲቲ ቆይታቸው ውጤታማ እንዲሆኑ ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ ከምረቃ በኋላም በህይወታቸው ስኬታማ ዜጋ እንዲሆኑ መሰረት የሚጥል መሆኑ ታምኖበታል።
