The Woodsmaster: The Fundamentals of Tracking
One of the most important, and most difficult, skills of the Woodsmaster is the ability to track.
In this volume of the Woodsmaster we examine the fundamental skills related to the art of tracking. We show you the “Four principles of sign”, how to read “Action indicators”, and ways to learn the age of a track.
You’ll see how to make and use a “Tracking pit” and exercises you can do to sharpen your tracking skills. Since light is critical to effective tracking you’ll see the secrets of good lighting as well as dozens of Woodsmaster tracking tips and techniques.
In this volume we use the human footprint as the best way to learn tracking. If you practice however, you will be able to track anything that leaves “Sign.”

The word radical itself comes from the Latin word for root. Tribalism is the root of human culture.
If you want to be free in the way your ancestors would have understood freedom — if you want more than permission and comfort and obligatory affirmation — then plant a new root or tend an old one. Start a tribe or join one. Make bold mistakes. Contribute to the growth of a social organism strong enough to survive and thrive in the arid nothingness of modernity. Show people the real thing that they’ve been looking for, the thing that they’ve tried to buy.
It may not be about you or your survival. You may not live to see it reach its final height or perfect form. In fact, if you do it right, you probably won’t.
There’s an old Greek proverb that says, “society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
If you don’t like what’s happening around you, what’s happening to culture, what’s happening to men and women, what people are becoming — get out there and start digging. Plant the seed of something new. Of something better. Plant the seed of something you really want — not just whatever you think you can have. Show others that there’s a different way to live.
Spend the rest of your life tending a root that may one day grow into a tree of liberty.
There are sometimes extremely shit takes coming from what’s left of the “alt right” and the above example (or maybe below, depending how it's displaying for you) is one of them.
It is just as important for women to have strong, healthy bodies as it is for men. Women should get regular exercise and work to build strength and endurance. This does not mean women need to make a career out of sports. However, having a body with lean muscle mass instead of fat and being in good shape helps keep female hormones balanced and makes conception, pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing a lot easier.
Promoting a culture in which women largely sit around on their asses getting fat (as is common in India and the Middle East) is extremely dysgenic. It’s not good for women and, by extension, is not good for her family. Children should see their parents looking healthy and grow up in an environment where health and physical fitness are valued.
Girls should absolutely be encouraged to play some kind of sport growing up, to learn how to value and take good care of their bodies and to learn the discipline and mental fortitude that comes with rising to physical challenges.
There is probably no greater physical challenge that a woman will face than childbirth. Better that she be physically and mentally prepared, to know what her body is capable of, to trust her body, and to feel confident in keeping herself healthy through her pregnancy and afterwards.
I have seen both fit and fat female friends go through pregnancies and the ones who have the easiest time of it (even if they ultimately had a difficult birth) are the ones who had a healthy, fit lifestyle and the stronger they were, the more quickly they recovered. By contrast, my overweight friends struggled a lot with the additional demands on their bodies and really never fully bounced back postpartum. Everything was harder for them and they were a lot less likely to feel like they could handle another pregnancy. They also had the hardest time conceiving, often struggling with any number of hormonally related problems.
If you’re a man who wants many children or who wants strong, healthy children, then encourage your wife to be as fit and healthy as she can be. Weak women birth weak children. Fat mothers raise fat children. Stacies give birth to Chads. If you want sons who can be warriors and daughters who can defend themselves in an increasingly dangerous world, then better to choose a mother for them who has something of a warrior spirit herself. It is not unfeminine for a woman to choose health and fitness, quite the opposite. It is disrespectful of the feminine for a woman to “let herself go”.

One of the reasons that motherhood is a heroic path for women (the Demeter archetype) is that it opens up the potential for the woman to experience the boundless love of the divine through the love they have for their children.
Not every woman achieves this just by virtue of reproducing, of course, but for women on a spiritual path who take motherhood seriously, it can be turned into something transcendent.
The soul-bond that a mother has with her child, having shared her breath and her heartbeat with her baby in the womb, is an experience that cannot be replicated in any way. As much as fathers also love their children, they cannot love them in the way that mothers do, as they do not have the same soul connection.
And like all heroic paths that lead one to become god-like, this too is a path of sacrifice, of having to let go of one's lower desires and ego, to become a better person, for the sake of her children.
The heroic paths of women often sound less exciting than the paths for men, as women's paths do not have the active quality that define the male paths. But they are no less difficult and no less rewarding.
The path of Demeter, of the mother, is perhaps seen as the least exciting. I think this is due in part to the fact that just anybody can have a kid and parenthood is often maligned and looked down upon.
We live in an age where we are in love with the products of our own minds and caring for children is seen as (and let's be honest, often actually is) tedious and lacking in mental stimulation. A waste of a woman's mind!
But actually, this is not true, despite the outward appearances. There is an immense amount of self-growth that can come from the care of children for the woman who can see the opportunity beyond the tiresome chores of child-rearing.
It is the opportunity to develop her capacity to love, first and foremost, as well as all the other virtues associated with a solar nature, such as patience, emotional and mental stability, discipline, etc.
At the end of the day, it is the mother's job to guide this new soul through life- a huge responsibility! We were all shaped by our mothers, for good or bad. A mother's success at her role is not only a spiritual victory for her, but also potentially for her children.
When a mother walks the path of a hero, she lays the groundwork for her children to be able to do the same. Heroic mothers raise heroic children- it is they who are the most critical for passing on the torch to the next generation. All the great ideas in the world mean nothing if there is no one to bear them forth into the future.

The Woodsmaster: Survival Camping
