“Verizon's service should now be restored following a major outage that lasted for around 10 hours and impacted hundreds of thousands of people.

It was the popular United States wireless carrier's first major outage since October 2024, and it was a bad one, with customers across the country seeing 'SOS' in place of network bars.

Many users reported no network bars, and on phones like the iPhone, those were replaced with SOS, with no ability to make or receive calls or texts beyond using data.”

This is how Instacart got exposed accessing your personal data to algorithmically adjust grocery store prices based on each person (dynamic pricing)

The investigators at More Perfect Union say this is starting to happen everywhere and needs to be regulated

The held an experiment with a bunch of people in a room, everyone ordered the same 20 items to the same address. Each one from their personal phone. The app Instacart gave everyone different prices

After researching they found 3 different prices were available for everyday items like cereal, adjusted based on your data

After being caught Instacart denied they were using dynamic pricing but announced they were no longer going to adjust prices based on data

NEW - German hacker "Martha Root" deleted the servers of three "white supremacist" websites live onstage, to a cheering crowd, at the annual Chaos Communication Congress in Germany.

Root published the data, allegedly scraped from "WhiteDate" online saying "Imagine calling yourselves the 'master race' but forgetting to secure your own website — maybe try mastering to host WordPress before world domination."
