Layoffs at company I was interviewing for

Currently in the interview loop for Build a Rocket Boy and they've just announced layoffs. From what I can see, there are no layoffs in engineering, mostly QA and non-dev. I have an interview scheduled and they've not said anything about the role being removed, so I assume they're still hiring for it (although it's still early days, the layoffs have just been announced) but it makes me nervous that they may have another round affecting more of the development roles. They're also very large for an independent (400+) which makes me even more nervous.
Going to try and finish the interview process regardless but I'm wondering what to do If I get the offer.

The time has come. PIP has come for my soul. Time to start interviewing.
I hate LeetCode, with a passion. It’s impractical and boring. I’ve avoided it for 12y by flaunting my system design skills and culture fit smooth talking. Unfortunately in this economy; much like a penguin it won’t fly.
Time to bite the bullet and grind.
I’m looking for a study buddy to help me make the process less grueling. I am very social and think out loud. So I’m thinking we can get on a zoom call and tackle problems together. Or I’m also willing to pay a coach if it’s somewhat affordable (I would be looking at 20h or so). Like a personal trainer a lot of the job will be babysitting me and cheerleading.
If you want, I can do an exchange. I will teach you everything you need to know about FE system design (I wrote a book on it). Or I’ll coach you on being smooth and charismatic. Also much like a penguin.

I’m Sorry to Say This but H1Bs Should not be the Priority for Any US Company Right Now

Before I go on, I want to say I have no problem at all with the H1B Program in the US. I think it’s a great means for getting talent and it makes our companies more diverse.
That said, these are very tough times. I feel very bad that they are but this is the nature of this industry at this point.
As a US citizen who has worked abroad, it was extremely difficult to get work outside the US. Companies legit had to demonstrate that they needed the US worker because they had tried legitimately and failed to fill the role with a citizen from their own country.
I recognize that there are many many H1Bs who were let go in the tech cuts. Some of them face return to their own countries. But there were also many US citizens who lost their jobs. Respectfully, if it comes to filling any new open role in the states it should be going to a US citizen over an H1B

I see everyone on here who has 1 million dollar NW after 5 years in USA. Here are some mistakes I made as an immigrant so others don’t make the same.
1.) Buying a 70k car right after graduating. Was young and dumb
2.) Not buying real estate in 2017 because I was afraid of bubble. Housing always goes up, always buy.
3.) Playing with options. You always lose in the long term
4.) Giving money to family. Always good to help family but never give large amounts. I paid for both of my siblings college tuition(120k+) and they ended up ghosting me.
5.) Not buying tech stocks(Nvidia, Amazon, etc)
6.) Never job hopped. Got a offer from Nvidia in 2019 and declined.

I’m an L6 IC with an extensive background in AI and PhD from top-3.
A friend of mine just graduated from a PhD from the same school — we had an overlap for 3 years. He had 3 Yoe as a SWE IC before PhD.
We have been working an idea for 6 months that didn’t work out, and are trying something new. For the new idea, I’m trying to see if I should go solo or with my co-founder.
In the last 6 months I have noticed followings:
Positive signs:
+ have been friends for many years and I respect his tech skills. If he wants to implement a huge product he can do it.
+ it’s better to have a companion as this is long journey
+ We have a team of two PhDs from top-3 school working on an idea that is at the intersection of our interest.
Alarming signs that I noticed:
+ I have a NW of 1M, he has an NW of 50K. More personal run way for me and he is stressed.
+ I am workaholic — can easily put 10h a day whereas he has phases of ups and downs but overall will deliver — he is definitely more laid back specially after grad school’s pressure. So, he basically slows me down a bit.
+ I noticed I’m a 10X more ambitious person — this is a result of personality difference and NW difference imho. I want you to build the next Google, he wants to cash out a few mills — I know there is huge change that we make 0 but I’m trying to explain our differences
I really want to be fair and nice but make the right biz decision. Thanks for your understanding
Since we plan to start something new, I’ve been contemplating about moving forward alone and bringing another more senior person as an employee later on if it makes sense.

VP acting strange towards me? Or am I crazy?

25YO F working at big global tech company as an IC. 2 months ago we got a new VP and he’s been acting with lots of “favoritism” towards me?
1. Since 2 weeks ago he’s been asking me to attend meetings he holds with his manager and their peers (all director level) and I just sit there and smile. He even asks me to create their private group slack channels and I said “ok, I’ll create it and remove myself afterwards” and he’d say “no need to remove yourself” with a huge smile on his face…He’d even tell the other managers in our org that I specifically was with him at the meetings, as if that’s a brag. I saw the reaction of the other managers and they were definitely shocked
2. Now this week he even asks me to present at meetings to the same group. After I present, he would says stuff like “your presentation was the best part of my day”
Is this normal or is something fishy? I only recently graduated with an undergrad with barely any work experience so this feels weird, also I’m not his executive assistant or anything. Haven’t told my direct manager about all this yet..

At Amazon everything is about truth seeking, productivity, and getting stuff done. At VMware it’s a culture of babying, stalling, throwing wrenches in things with silly ideas, making tiny details into mountains, and horrible prioritization. Could understand if this happened on the front lines but I’m talking about leadership doing all of this.

I used to work at a FAANG company until I was laid off last year. It's known as a PIP factory. I recruited tech folks for their PXT org. I was there for two years.
I noticed that every U.S. citizen recruiter born and educated in the U.S. in that org was laid off and we are all still unemployed. I'm all out of savings and on food stamps. My condo is in foreclosure.
Every H4 spouse visa recruiter is still there in the PXT org and working. How does this work in a recession? There's no shortage of recruiters in a downturn. Millions of H1 visa folks are waiting for their green card. Millions of H4 spouses are still working doing what I did at the FAANG company, and I am on food stamps and my condo is in foreclosure. I am going to become homeless.

11. Send your kids to Public school and still call them expensive
12. Call for sanctions against your home country because it doesn't match the foreign policies of the USA.

I was having lunch with one of my teammates and somehow the southern border issue came up when I mentioned I was going to San Diego this long weekend. He seemed surprised to know that, I was against illegal immigration as I myself am an immigrant. Does he not know the difference between legal and illegal immigration. I know those people entering through the border want to have a better life, but doesn't America have to right to control when they want to let in? Even poor countries have stricter border policies.

I see a lot of sexually frustrated posts here on blind, and I feel bad that in puritan America you can’t really do much about it. In fact, I want to go even further as to state for the record, some violence committed here in USA could be mitigated had the aggressor just gotten laid.

Finally got an offer

In December, I was laid off from #Google where I was an L6 with a total compensation of $420,000. After 75 days (15days in grace period) of learning, searching, interviews, I received my first verbal offer from #Snowflake for an IC3 role with a total compensation of $460,000. Although the compensation isn't as high and role is downleveled and it requires relocation to the Bay Area, I'm still happy to have received an offer. Thanks to my H1B visa situation.
I also received an inclination of an offer from #Amazon today for an L5 position. I'm not sure about the exact numbers, but it doesn't require relocation, I think compensation might be lower than Snowflake.
Additionally, I have interviews scheduled with #Meta and #Peloton next week. Despite applying for over 30 roles at TikTok over the past two months, I just received my first response from them and looks like finally stars are aligned in my favour. Thank you for entire Blind community for supporting and referals in worst phase of my life.
Question : If I decline the offer from Amazon, will they consider me again? Is the one-year clause for reconsideration for Team Match still applicable nowadays at Amazon?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Genuinely curious: the product is very mature. It’s mostly new contents driven business.
There are not much AI needed.
For people who didn’t get the point: You can imagine the scale and complexity of content recommendations are completely different at Netflix vs Meta.
There are only 1000s of movies available at Netflix in total. There are billions of new posts created everyday at FB.
I don’t think Netflix needs much AI for content recommendations. That’s an overkill. Rule based should work just fine.
What do they do besides maintenance?
