In my 20y experience, all the managers that I know are trained to say "business decision" just to avoid issues, but 95% of the time, it's performance issue, or they don't see enough value from what they pay you.

I’m 26F, married. My husband and I met in college, I love him but we’ve been having a tough time. It started after I got laid off last year. It’s been a year and I haven’t found anything concrete. A contract gig for 3 months that pays peanuts..it’s affecting my mental health. I feel embarrassed that I went to a great school, worked at a well known company but can’t get any offer. I’m unhappy most days and rely on my husband for emotional support and it’s stressing him out too. He too works in tech so after a day of work, he has to listen to me rant about the 100th interview that didn’t go well/ or went well but still got rejected.
I want to be happy but I just find it hard because I had high aspirations for my career and now I feel behind. I constantly fear that I won’t be able to get a good job. I was okay the last four days as it was the weekend but come Monday I hate my life again.
Many say I’m lucky my husband earns well and can pay my bills but I feel ashamed that I don’t earn as well as I used to. In fact sometimes I wish wasn’t married so I could be unhappy and not have to care how it affects people around me.

My girlfriend of 1 year earns ~55k and I earn roughly 10x that. She hasn’t paid for a single date or meal the entire time, which makes me feel a bit of resentment about footing the bill for everything. Not even a coffee or dessert or snack here and there.
She has covered her portion of airfare and hotels when we travel, and she does have pet expenses that she (rightly) covers herself.
She will earn 600-700k in a few years when she finishes residency. I know she will contribute more then, but something still seems off because I’ve dated girls with the same salary and they would always contribute in small ways to show they care, even without me asking.
What’s fair in this situation? Should she contribute more financially, even in small ways?

Although I am a white male, who leans moderate on mostly every social issue/fiscal issue in the present day, I have come to learn that after moving to the Bay Area and working for Google, I’m not supposed to highlight to my liberal peers that outliers like myself do exist.
They prefer to box me into an alt right Breitbart world and whatever I do or say is further ammunition to say im the bad guy. I’m the colonizer. I’m white privilege.

I hate my job at Amazon. I hate being a SWE. My job is super demanding and my manager keeps pushing me. Mentors are a joke and no one wants to help anyone. I’m having a bad personal situation too and I can’t deal with all of this anymore. I joined amazon as a new grad 6 months ago. I fucking hate it. Worst decision of my life. We are working on a new service and it’s a nightmare. I don’t want the money. I just want peace 🙏🏽.
I wanna quit being SWE. Is there any easier tech jobs I could find? The friends I speak to are super demotivating and tell me it’s hard to transition to a different role as I have no experience and on a visa too. Maybe they are right who knows. Please help me out with options blind fam 🙏🏽

She said she would be better off alone because I'm holding her back, wished me well, and broke up with me. Now she's moving to the US. Haven't received the final offer from Netflix yet. Also don't work at Uber currently, I was laid off from a startup earlier this year.
1. How would you compare the culture at these 2 companies?
2. Performance Summary Cycle at Meta vs Netflix perf cycle.
3. TC difference not too much of a concern, but heard Meta refreshers stack pretty well, so it can close the gap.
4. Want a stable job with as less stress as possible.

Netflix team: newish team, less ppl working on this problem, so probably slightly high impact compared to other teams at Netflix

Many people do not get this and make their lives miserable.
This is not supposed to be an offensive post.
I do think that Women also needs to be respected and uplifted in many cases, but specially in relationships(Dating), man has to be a leader(superior) and woman has to be a follower to have a successful relationship.
These differences are due to biological hardwiring of both sexes.
We need to accept this fact to live a fulfilling life for ourselves and our loved ones.
You can live against this fact but, in most cases, your life wont be fulfilling.

Yesterday I lost a close friend due to very low BP. He suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of the night due to it. Both of us were in the same team at amazon for 5+ years before we got laid off and moved to different companies last year.
He was just 38! Ambitions, TC, titles, net worth are all good things to chase but the most important thing worth chasing is good health. Sit back for a few minutes and think about whats important in life. He has 2 kids. I pray that his family gets strength to recover from this.

I have probably applied to over 1k jobs since then, most never reply back and some give the generic "we have decided to move forward with other candidates that more closely match our current needs" response.
About me/ my process applying:
In NYC, I apply to pretty much any company that fits my description and mostly remote or hybrid positions. U.S. Citizen.

Obsessed over future value of money

Today I chose ramen ($16) over sushi ($35) when I desperately wanted sushi. I had to tell the waiter I was not ready 3 different times because I was so indecisive.
I kept telling myself investing the extra $19 instead of spending it could be worth >$150 in 30 years.
This is a very common theme in my life where I am unwilling to indulge. I am completely able to afford it.
Do other people struggle with this too?

If I could go back to college, I’d vigorously pursue investment banking or corporate law. I’d be making $1m at age 30 and $10m at age 40. And my colleagues would be mostly Americans instead of immigrants whom I don’t enjoy working with.
EDIT: should mention I went to an Ivy League college, which doesn’t matter so much in tech, but matters a lot in the client driven industries of high-end finance and law.

My gf and I have been dating for a few months now and the topic of body counts came up. She told me that she’s been with 30+ men and that she had a hoe phase when she first moved to the city. I was taken aback a bit since she has been so vanilla with me. I’m not sure how to react to all this. I think a body count of 30+ is very high. For reference mine is fewer than 10. We’re both in our late 20s and she’s been in more long term relationships than me lol.
What would you guys advise/recommend/do if you were in my situation? My impulse reaction is to break things off and move on.
