Эпистолярии Императрицы Марии Александровны свидетельствуют о том, что она особо почитала Святителя Иоанна Златоуста.
«Спустя долгое время я снова читаю письма Святителя Иоанна Златоуста к диакониссе Олимпии или Олимпиаде, которые Ты наверняка знаешь, мой перевод русский, поэтому я не могу его Тебе предложить…», - делилась в 1870 г. Императрица со своим братом Принцем Карлом.Примечательно, что Русская Православная Церковь отмечает его память в день кончины, совпадающий с праздником Воздвижения Креста Господня. Возможно, неслучайно и возвигнутый под водительством Императрицы Марии Александровны Ливадийский Храм будет освящен в честь этого праздника.
Совпадение или нет, но и день памяти Святой Диакониссы Олимпиады символично отмечается православными в канун дня рождения Императрицы – 7 августа.
