“Our small but flourishing Orthodox Church is in great need of a larger and more suitable place of worship. By God’s grace, we have the opportunity to acquire an old chapel, which we hope to transform into a beautiful and fitting house of prayer—a place where the Divine Services can be offered with dignity and reverence.

Our community is made up of faithful from diverse backgrounds—English, Russian, Ukrainian, and Belorussian—united in the Orthodox faith and in our love for Christ and His Church. This new building would not only allow us to welcome more worshippers, but also provide space for catechism, fellowship, and charitable works.

We humbly ask for your prayers and support in this endeavour, that we may secure and restore this chapel for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.”

Over a decade ago when I returned to the Christian faith I briefly considered an Anglo-Catholic parish here in London that does beautiful High Masses with bits in Latin.

I used to be High Church Anglican/Anglo-Catholic and then went into Trad Pap/Trad Cath, there’s definitely a pipeline there as with Orthodoxy.

It’s heart warming to have such a figure who did that, shows our Faith is not for us but for others just as much and the need to love others for their and our own benefit. Most of my family are almost entirely lapsed, though I had some in my family who prayed/occasionally went to Mass.

I was looking like I would spend my life as an evangelical Protestant as I was so convinced the high Church truth claims were corrupted, that is until I properly inquired into Orthodoxy and eventually it became irresistible to not go further in it as much as it had its challenges too.

Fair effort, you did much more then myself. I was a pretty much permanently online trad, needed the Trad Cath phase though to learn much needed lessons about cultivating faith and living a life in Christ.

Interesting, I wonder what compelled them to do it in Latin? I admittedly don’t know many Anglicans who are advocates for that, they tend to emphasise the English language and the KJV translation.

I attended the “canonical” SSPX parish in London and was an altar server, eventually MC (master of ceremonies) at their chapel in Madrid, Spain before becoming Orthodox.

When I was an adherent of the SSPX (a Latin Mass sect) I occasionally attended the Ordinariate Masses and I found their reverence and beauty very refreshing.

Many of the more high-church minded Anglicans are either joining the papist Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham or becoming Orthodox.
