• Show Love and Compassion - There is no greater commandment than love. All messages should be sent with love of neighbour
• Avoid Negativity - Avoid leaving negative comments. In the majority of cases, if you have nothing nice to say, just don't say it.
• No Circular Debates - Many discussions just go round and round over the same points and it bears no fruit and causes distress for others. This has to stop.
• No Political Debates - Political Debates are futile, a brief conversation is acceptable and sometimes politics overlaps with our Faith and is therefore relevant. However, at a certain point it has to stop and should not be in regards to unrelated matters.
• No Swearing - Use nice language, there's just no need for it.
• No Self Promotion Without Approval - Before promoting your own content, business etc please contact @SidOrthodox for approval.
Posts to be encouraged:
• Be Positive: Share generally positive and encouraging news relating to your orthodox life.
• Orthodox Content: Share Orthodox content that is appropriate for all and will encourage people in their faith
• Orthodox Events: Let us know about events happening across the UK and Ireland.

Violation of rules will result in the removal of comments and in some cases removal from the group.
I don’t think I really have used the kjv or anything with the more traditional or archaic English as much, so there’s st tihkon might be better
Читать полностью…Yeah that's fine but you might have better results once you've talked to some people face to face at the parish and can ask if anyone lives close to you
Читать полностью…I use Jordanville, it’s handy and has canons, akathists, all the psalms and full prayers for daily and major feast days/seasons.
Admittedly I don’t know much about any others, only because the Jordanville has served me so well thus far and as I’m in ROCOR it was given to me during the catechumenate.
Haven’t seen this one before, heard about it from a mate who goes to an Edinoverie parish
Читать полностью…Since he can probably take me on Saturday’s, although I’m not very confident about sundays
Читать полностью…Yes that's fine especially considering your dad has to drive you. Be kind to him. You can be more selective once you can take yourself
Читать полностью…Would it be wrong to just pick the closest one? Just for the convenience factor of it. I mean I’m gonna assume everything is canonical considering they are oca
Читать полностью…Also, if I have too many shirts (did I ask about this here already? Or mention it?), should I see about bringing some by to whichever parish i can get into contact with?
Читать полностью…I will probably see about contacting another parish tomorrow
Читать полностью…I don’t think it’s more difficult to follow
Читать полностью…Even if some of the stuff that isn’t canonical is mostly acceptable
Читать полностью…There are lots of different Old Believer groups, some more schismatic than others, best to just stick with the one recognised by the canonical church
Читать полностью…I think they are essentially the same tradition anyway
Читать полностью…Im gonna probably go st tihkon, the English will probably be better for me.
Читать полностью…@b3nluke I wouldn’t overthink it dude. Just go to a service after praying on it and can talk to the priest before deciding what to commit to or keep searching afterwards.

I was still gonna contact them and see if they can send anyone out my way, I feel like I will have more chance with them being to vs st Jonah’s or one of the others
Читать полностью…I believe the parish, st Cyril’s, is led by fr Benedict Crawford, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of stuff about him online, but I don’t know if I should really worry about that assuming they are part of a canonical jurisdiction.
Читать полностью…Don't stress too much brother. Just pick one. Odds are you'll end up buying more in the future anyway. I have 3 prayer books by now 😄
Читать полностью…The rest of them seem to have a parish email, so it should be easier
Читать полностью…I will probably do some research between the two and probably ask a priest whenever I get to a church
Читать полностью…Or if it’s my first prayer book, do I stick with the st tihkon’s one or the Jordanville?
Читать полностью…Would you say this is particularly more difficult to follow? Because to my knowledge, the old orthodox stuff is generally more Lengthy
Читать полностью…And has the Slavonic which is helpful if you’re learning it
Читать полностью…I mean I feel like if you can, just stick with the canonical stuff
Читать полностью…There may not be a large focus on the old rite stuff anyway
