Jochen Mass (1946-)

Soviet sci-fi matchbox art with a rotating wheel space station.
Such stations base their design on Tsiolkovsky's idea of using a spinning wheel in order to create artificial gravity. Also known as von Braun wheel, as von Braun (and Willy Ley) built upon the idea in the 1950s for NASA's space projects.
Since it was thought as the next step in space exploration, you can see such designs in many media. 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, etc.
The O'Neill cylinder and the Bishop Ring are pretty much an expanded version of this. You've seen one if you've played Halo.
1983 Nissan NRV-II concept car
Indeed, even dashboard computers are not a new invention. It has a a digital gauge cluster, a multifunctional steering wheel, a satellite navigation system in the center console, and a power button on the steering wheel. It also has a cruise control and 3 buttons to operate it.
The "infotainment" system is really the icing on the cake, specifically the volume control. It has an "Up" and a "Down" button, but the button for volume up is five times bigger than the engine start button.
All this phone booth posting reminded me of the kino "Miracle Mile".
This film has so much going on, that I can't even put my finger on what the genre is.

Officially, the complex is used for communications during interplanetery travel, but we all know that's a half-truth, especially since it was originally built by the U.S. Army, on Fort Irwin territory.

I'll let you on a little secret. Car navigation was being tested long before 1983. In Britain, of all places. Here's a video from 1971 on how it could have operated.
