FSSPX on Linz Obscenity: "Please Don't Mindlessly Attack the Bishop"
The depiction of "Mary giving birth" in the cathedral of Linz deeply offends every devout Catholic, writes Father Regele, superior for Austria.
His statement is an open letter to priests and the Catholic faithful (Fsspx.at). Father Regele, who was a molecular biologist before entering the priesthood, was born in near Linz.
"This sculpture is a testimony to the dissolution of the Catholic faith, the disrespect of our time for the sacred, a profanation of the cathedral, ... ".
He replied that they should "pray and atone".
Regele advises against "worldly actionism": "Please don't just mindlessly attack the bishop".
In an aside, Regele mentions that Holy Mass is strictly forbidden in the cathedral and churches of the diocese of Linz: "Some people treat you like a leper".

On the 24th June 2024, Monsignor Gilles Wach, Prior General of the Institute, was received in private audience by His Holiness Pope Francis, accompanied by Monsignor Rudolf Michael Schmitz, vicar general of the Institute, and by Canon Louis Valadier.
Monseigneur Wach was also able to present all the pastoral work carried out by the priests of the Institute throughout the world in the service of souls. On two occasions, the Pope insisted to continue to serve the Church according to the own, proper charism, in the spirit of unity and communion which the harmony and balance of the Salesian spirituality allow.

Nuns of the Roman Rite Expand to England
The Benedictines of Mary Queen of Apostles, who follow the Roman Rite, are expanding.
According to their Spring 2024 newsletter (8 May), the community will grow to more than 70 nuns this year.
The motherhouse is in Gower, Missouri. They are putting the finishing touches on a new convent in Ava, Missouri, and preparing to move into a recently vacated convent of the Poor Clare nuns in Evansville, Indiana. Some sisters from countries outside the USA are experiencing difficulties with the immigration department.
Now, together with Archbishop Bernard Longley of Birmingham, they have also decided to move to St Mary's Abbey in Colwich, Staffordshire, north of Birmingham.

Tradition suspended this year: No bearers for St Roch
In many places in Italy, large statues of saints are carried through the streets on feast days. A traditional procession in northern Italy has now been cancelled. There are no bearers. The parish priest, Don Lido Bedin, has announced that he will only celebrate Sunday mass on the saint's feast day in the church dedicated to him.

In order to put an end to the coming crowd, the authorities kidnapped the children, pretending that they had to go to the priest. The children spent August 13 in prison and missed the announced date. But when they returned to tend the sheep after their release, the lady appeared to them again on August 19.

Mary giving birth: statue in St. Mary's Cathedral destroyed
An art project in St. Mary's Cathedral in Linz has apparently caused such a stir that someone destroyed the statue of Mary giving birth on Monday morning. It was only supposed to be on display for a short time as part of an art exhibition.
Linz Cathedral is dedicated to St. Mary. The artist Esther Strauß wanted to focus on her as a woman and show her as she has never been shown before. She was only supposed to be on display for three weeks anyway.
Head of the statue sawed off
It was destroyed on Monday morning in an act of vandalism, as was confirmed in writing to ORF Upper Austria. Specifically, the head of the sculpture was sawn off, according to the Diocese of Linz.

Linz Cathedral Shows Naked Mary "Would a bishop portray his own mother like this?"
Since Friday, the Cathedral of Our Lady in Linz, Austria, has been displaying a statue of Our Lady sitting on a rock and giving birth. The statue is called the "crowning." It is made of lime wood, and will remain in a chapel on the west side for another three weeks.
The main responsible is Bishop Manfred Scheuer of Linz. Artist Esther Strauss explains in a flyer at the entrance to the chapel that Our Lady is the most painted woman in the world, but the moment of birth is not to be found in any painting or sculpture. She believes that "in Christianity, the mother goddesses of antiquity have been transformed into the a-sexual mother goddess".
