Dies irรฆ, dies illa, Solvet sรฆclum in favilla: Teste David cum Sibylla.
Quantus tremor est futurus, Quando judex est venturus, Cuncta stricte discussurus!
Day of wrath and doom impending! David's word with Sibyl's blending, Heaven and earth in ashes ending!
Oh, what fear man's bosom rendeth, When from heaven the Judge descendeth, On whose sentence all dependeth.
โWith what majesty and splendor will that woman be clothed whom Godโs Son Himself chose for His Mother! No man was ever able to choose his own mother, except the One, the God-Man. He will adorn His Mother with all the riches of nature and grace, so that she might be worthy of Him; in His almighty hands is all fullness. Whatever honor and praise we offer to Mary will redound to the glory of her Son.โ
~ Father Otto Hophan, O.F.M.Cap.
โIn that first Holy Communion, it was my Heavenly Mother who accompanied me to the altar, for it was she herself who placed her Jesus into my soul.โ
-Saint Thรฉrรจse of Lisieux
โIt is an article of faith that the Blessed Virgin Mary, by a special grace and privilege of God, on account of the merits of Jesus Christ the Redeemer of mankind, was from the first instant of her conception protected and preserved from every stain of original sin.โ
~ Pope Pius IX
โAnxiety is freedomโs possibility; this anxiety alone is, through faith, absolutely formative, since it consumes all finite ends, discovers all their deceptions.โ
- Sรธren Kierkegaard
โIt was fitting that she, who had kept her virginity in childbirth, should keep her own body free from all corruption even after death. It was fitting that she, who had carried the Creator as a child at her breast, should dwell in the divine tabernaclesโฆit was fitting that Godโs Mother should possess what belongs to her Son and that she should be honored by every creature as the Mother and the Handmaid of God.โ
~ Saint John Damascene
โAfter the love which we owe Jesus Christ, we must give the chief place in our heart to the love of His Mother Mary.โ
~ Saint Alphonsus Liguori

โPrayer is the place of refuge for every worry, a foundation for cheerfulness, a source of constant happiness, a protection against sadness.โ
โ St. John Chrysostom
When the Blessed Sacrament is laid upon your tongueโ that moment and that act which the great angels of God look down upon with such surpassing aweโthe Blood of Jesus is throbbing there in all its abounding life of glory. It sheathes in the sacramental mystery that exceeding radiance which is lighting all heaven at that moment with a magnificence of splendor which exceeds the glowing of a million suns. You do not feel the strong pulses of his immortal life. If you did, you could hardly live yourself. Sacred terror would undo your life. But in that adorable Host is the whole of the Precious Blood, the Blood of Gethsemane, Jerusalem, and Calvary, the Blood of the Passion, of the Resurrection, and of the Ascension, the Blood shed and reassumed.
[Fr. Frederick Faber- The Precious Blood: or, The Price of Our Salvation]
We beseech Thee, therefore, help Thy servants, whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy Precious Blood.

Redimรญsti nos, Dรณmine, in sรกnguine tuo, ex omni tribu, et lingua, et pรณpulo, et natiรณne: et fecรญsti nos Deo nostro regnum.
Thou hast redeemed us, O Lord, in Thy blood, out of every tribe and tongue, and people, and nation, and hast made us to our God a kingdom.
โHe who truly desires to love God, loves only, with an ardent and constant desire, to suffer for His sake.โ
~ Saint Aloysius
โMy Heart hath expected reproach and misery; and I looked for one that would grieve together with Me, but there was none: and for one that would comfort me, and I found none.โ
โImpropรฉrium exspectรกvi Cor meum et misรฉriam: et sustรญnui, qui simul mecum contristarรฉtur, et non fuit: consolรกntem me quรฆsรญvi, et non invรฉni.โ

โGovernments come and go, Christ reigns as King forever.โ
~ Pope Pius XI
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

~ Saint John Chrysostom
โWe pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly gloryโ.
~ Pope Pius XII
"Anne is the glorious tree from which bloomed a twig under Divine influence. She is theย sublime heaven from whose heights the Star of the Sea neared its rising. She is the blessed barren woman, happy mother among mothers, from whose pure womb came forth the shining temple of God, the sanctuary of the Holy Ghost, the Mother of God!"
~ Saint Jerome
โBeware of despairing about yourself; you are commanded to place your trust in God, and not in yourself.โ
~ Saint Augustine
Not all of us are expected to die a martyrโs death, but we are all called to the pursuit of Christian virtue. This demands strength of character though it may not match that of this innocent girl. Still, a constant, persistent and relentless effort is asked of us right up to the moment of our death. This may be conceived as a slow steady martyrdom which Christ urged upon us when he said: The kingdom of heaven is set upon and laid waste by violent forces. So let us all, with Godโs grace, strive to reach the goal that the example of the virgin martyr, Saint Maria Goretti, sets before us. Through her prayers to the Redeemer may all of us, each in his own way, joyfully try to follow the inspiring example of Maria Goretti who now enjoys eternal happiness in heaven.
~ Pope Pius XII
The world has heard enough of the so-called "rights of man." Let it hear something of the rights of God.
~ Pope Leo XIII
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely; is not puffed up; is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
โBoth apostles share the same feast day, for these two were one and even though they suffered on different days, they were as one.
Peter went first and Paul followed.
And so we celebrate this day made holy for us, by the apostlesโ blood.ย Let us embrace what they believed, their life, their labours, their sufferings, their preaching and their confession of faith.โ
~ Saint Augustine
โThen in the excess of myย delirious joy, I cried out: โO Jesus, my Love, at last I have found my vocation, my vocation is Love!... Yes, I have found my place in the Church, and it is you, O my God, who have given me this place... in the heart of the Church, my Mother, I will be Love!.... Thus I shall be all things: thus my dream shall be realized!โโ
~ Saint Thรฉrรจse of Lisieux
Remember, O most Sweet Jesus, that none who have had recourse to Thy Sacred Heart, implored Its assistance, or called for mercy, have ever been abandoned. Filled and animated with this same confidence, O Divine Heart, Ruler of all hearts, I fly to Thee, and oppressed beneath the weight of my sins, I prostrate myself before Thee. O despise not my feeble prayers but listen to them with a favorable ear and vouchsafe to answer them. Show me that Thou hast the best Heart of Fathers and that He Who has given Thee to me for my salvation will through Thee receive my prayers. Amen!ย
