Madeira is served by 4 bus companies. And only one is on Google maps. Where are the schedules and stops of others - you need to be born with this knowledge.
Of course this had to happen sooner or later. I was waiting for the bus at the wrong stop. The route of the bus that brought me to Porto Moniz from Funchal was different from the one that went back.
As a result, I hitchhiked and stopped a rare jaguar. There are only 2 cars of this model in Madeira.
I love hiking and Madeira is definitely one big hike.
To the nearest small supermarket I descend 100 meters, which I then need to pick up on the way home with bags of groceries.
But still it's very rewarding. Can you guess all the fruits on my plate? Neither can I.

Landing in Madeira was the most memorable of my life. At first you see only the ocean, then rocks, then a concrete runway appears out of nowhere. The adventure begins!!!
UPD. 44 flights were canceled on Madeira that day.

Air raid alerts 3 nights in a row. I feel like a zombie.

Tried today cycling class for the first time.
Got a not very gentle reminder why I was avoiding bicycles for that long.
When I complained to my trainer she said: "No pain no gain".
Well, I can't relate more.
I completely forgot that it's 10 years since I graduated from my second university. I don't know if there were any events about this.
Before the war, we met regularly, we were constantly in touch via telegram. After the war, only one person remained in my life with whom I regularly communicate and meet.
And I constantly have mixed feelings about this - it's strange when you had dozens of friends around the world and suddenly it's gone. It is strange that many of them did not write to me anything. And what should I do with my Russian diploma? And what should I feel about everything that was before if now all this is crossed out?
By the way it is really very difficult to find friends after graduation from the university. I deal with great difficulty.
Something I haven't expected: even though I'm in Przemysl today I still receive alert messages from Lviv.
Since there are a lot of non-Ukrainian people in this channel, I think it's worth explaining what's going on. There is such a pissed-off Mig-31k aircraft, which is the carrier of hypersonic missiles. And when this shit takes off for training, we start an air raid alert, because no one knows if this is a training or they are going to shoot. Shops, cafes, post offices, a gym and a railway station building are closed during an air alert...
Today there was probably 6 alerts because of the trainings, and because of one of them I had to walk along the platform, bypassing the station through an underground.
Russian military continues to destroy my hometown of Chernihiv.
And although they have not yet reached the church complexes of the 11th-13th centuries, once again the object of culture of the 20th century suffers. Already destroyed or partially destroyed:
Shchors Cinema builded in 1939. I watched movies there so many times.
Stadium of Yuriy Gagarin, 1936. I often ran there, and for the first and last time in my life I watched football.
Hotel "Ukraine", 1961. Our meeting point for the minibus to Kyiv.

The list can go on and go on. And today it has replenished with the Drama theater.
I haven't had any book updates for quite some time. That's because I was too lazy to read in English. Fixing it. Ahead is exciting journey through 800 pages of the Order of the Phoenix and who knows how long I'm going to read it.
As for the books that I read not in English. Luzhin's Defense by Nabokov. There is nothing I can do about my insane love for Nabokov.
I also tried to read something from the modern literature - "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. The book is huge. I honestly just want to finish reading it as soon as possible in order to write a reasoned negative review.
Is there a way to watch a 3-hour movie in Ukraine? NO WAY.
Gathered myself to see Oppenheimer. After 2 hours of the film, the air raid began. The air raid lasted only 10 minutes, which is very rare, usually lasting an hour or two.
One employee insisted that we should change tickets to another time for free. The guard argued that we have time to finish watching the movie. The movie was too boring and I didn't want to watch it all over again. But in the end, after some arguments, we were shown the last hour of the film.
It's not at all what I expected. The film is not about science. And not so much about the Manhattan Project. Most scientists are not even named. For example, who plays Richard Feynman can only be understood because the actor plays the bongo. The film's narrative is shown through a lawsuit in which Oppenheimer is accused of having connections with communists. That's why the movie disappointed me.
But what movie pleases a lot - it's Barbie. If you choose where to go, go to Barbie, you won't regret it.
And we are having air raid again.

There are several iconic tracks on Madeira. And while some of them are still closed after the storm, PR 8 is overcrowded as usual. In this short video I filmed my route and my impression of this beautiful place. I hope you'll enjoy it too.

The airport in Madeira is named after the football player Cristiano Ronaldo. He was born here. The airport was renamed in his honor after Portugal won the 2016 European Championship, when Cristiano was 32 years old.
Many critics suggested that a more prominent historical figure would be more appropriate. And what do you think? Does Cristiano Ronaldo deserve it? Or was this done to lure tourists?
While ago I read John Steinbeck's short book "Of Mice and Men" and the story struck me so much that I wanted to read his other works. And of course, the first place on my wishlist was “The Grapes of Wrath,” for which Steinbeck received the Pulitzer Prize.
For some reason I was convinced that since the book received an award, it should contain very complicated English.
But it turned out that no, the original language is not complicated. But Ukrainian translation is difficult for me. There are many words that I don't know. And it seems that the translator did this on purpose, to show the richness of the Ukrainian language, because there are simpler synonymous words, and simpler words better reflect the original text (but it's just my opinion).
So, in the end, reading American literature turned into learning the Ukrainian language for me.
