Recreate a historical 3D portrait of King Akhenaten using Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, XGen, Marvelous Designer and Arnold. Mahmoud Salah, character and creature artist, takes artists on a journey of discovery, starting with a scan of an ancient statue together with a modern-day human head scan that he projects onto the ancient statue to help reimagine the historical figure.
With the sculpt and facial details defined in ZBrush, Mahmoud uses Substance Painter to carefully align and enhance the skin texture. He instructs how to use Arnold for the look development process and how to leverage the esteemed Skin Shader, and dives deep into the eye setup and rendering workflow for realistic CG eyes.

One of the best things you can do to improve your animation workflow in Maya is to learn how to animate with the Master Control. While the Master Control is generally used for the placement of 3D characters, it can also be used to make the animation process a lot simpler — providing that you use it correctly.
This method taught in this 4-hour workshop by Senior Animator Kevin Nguyen can be implemented by animators of all levels, and can be used in both personal projects or professional production shots. This advanced compositing workshop guides you through compositing a shot, from start to finish, following the principles that would be expected of you in a real VFX production setting. Over the course of 3.5 hours, you’ll comp a photorealistic VFX shot while learning helpings of tips and tricks from Meliza, a Senior/Lead Compositor and Lead Digital Matte Painter, including how to solve common compositing problems that even professionals run into when working in Nuke.
Meliza begins with a lesson in color space, explaining how to work in linear, without compromising an original log plate. You will then do a 3D camera track in Nuke, and use this information to build a 2.5D background. Meliza provides subscribers with a layered digital matte painting to use; she instructs how to project these layers into cards. Meliza also teaches the important keying techniques that she always uses in production and that have proven successful on even the most difficult green- and blue-screen shots.
