Maharashtra’s Cultural Affairs Minister signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to bring back Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s legendary wagh nakh to the state.
👉🏻Literally ‘tiger claws’, the wagh nakh is a medieval claw-like dagger which was used across the Indian subcontinent.
👉🏻The most famous use of the wagh nakh in history comes from the story of Afzal Khan’s killing by Shivaji. Khan was a general of Bijapur’s Adil Shahi Sultanate.

RANI DURGAVATI ( 👉🏻Note: Earlier this year (June), the Madhya Pradesh government launched the six-day Rani Durgavati Gaurav Yatra)
👉🏻Rani Durgavati (5 October 1524 - 24 June 1564) was the Queen regent of Gondwana in 1550-1564 A.D.
👉🏻Akbar conquered Malwa and made it a part of the Mughal dominion. This event brought the state boundary of Rani Durgavati's kingdom in contact with the Mughal Empire.
👉🏻Knowing the Mughal forces were better equipped and trained, Rani Durgavati decided to fight a defensive battle at Narrai, a location between hills and rivers. Despite the odds, she led her soldiers against the invading Mughals.

👉🏻The dance takes place around a perforated earthenware pot lit with an oil lamp, or an image of the mother goddess Amba.
👉🏻The dancers move around the centre in a counter-clockwise circle, using simple movements while singing and clapping their hands in unison.
👉🏻Garba fosters social equality by diluting socio-economic, gender and religious structures. It continues to be inclusive of diverse and marginalized communities, thus strengthening social bonds.
Note: Garba of Gujarat is the 15th ICH element from India to join this list.

Located in Hampi in the Vijayanagara district of Karnataka, India.
It is part of the Group of Monuments at Hampi, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temple is dedicated to Sri Virupaksha.
👉🏻The temple was built by Lakkan Dandesha, a nayaka (chieftain) under the ruler Deva Raya II also known as Prauda Deva Raya of the Vijayanagara Empire.
