This is certain. But I believe the HPs are being used lightly at the moment.
But even at idle, we as alpha members we make 10k HF, this means that is absolutely worth keeping the device on and active in the Alpha program
the screenshot above shows the power consumption of the HP in the month of july, when I had it running all the days (In august and Semptember I had some issues)
10,15 KWh per month is the total consumption.
this means that if it costs 0,20€ per KWh, the price will be 2€.
There are also system costs to add. I mean the fixed costs of your electricity operator. But system costs are always there, even if you don't have HoloPort. I'm obviously thinking about the cost of 1 kWh in Italy right now, around 0.10/0.11 Eur/kWh (energy component only). Then it's obvious that each operator has its own offers (there's the most convenient and the least convenient). So if a HoloPort consumes around 60 Wh = around 40/45 kWh/month. But one thing needs to be said. The consumption of 60 Wh is the declared nominal consumption. Usually the actual consumption is even lower (this applies to all electrical appliances)

An HP consumes about $5/month to operate (depending on the price of energy where you live)
To give you a comparison, in Italy a pack of cigarettes costs on average 5 or 6 euros (you usually consume a pack of cigarettes in one day)
Better to have holoport or pc on than off. Computers are supposed to be used. Not stored for long times. It can cause problems.

As far as I know the tests are done in the alpha program HPs. But leaving your HP on (at your discretion and not required at this time if you are not in the program) can give the TEAM (if they want to see) an overview of all online and registered HPs, regardless of your console version.
I tell you what. Since I've had my HP it has always been on, even before the alpha program. In the end it's not a big monthly electricity expense and it seemed like a way to collaborate, for whatever it takes 🙏
while I am here - I found an old box of tech in my house and it has 4 holoports... Is there any doc for setting them up and joining the fun?

As I was saying the maximum power absorbed by a HP is about 60W in an hour (I don't remember the exact figure). This is the maximum at maximum working capacity. So it's easy to calculate the maximum expense for a month (based on the cost of energy in the place where we live)🙏

I would assume that the hps are currently mostly idle. Or am I mistaken? Wouldn’t the power consumption increase significantly if the hps are utilized at capacity?

Yes. If I have a HoloPort registered to the network, whether it’s in alpha or not, I would keep it on. But I also understand people who don’t want to pay about 5 euros a month in electricity to keep it running. As I said, if you’re not in alpha you don’t have to keep it online. It’s your discretion. It depends on your view of the facts 🤷

It’s banter guys, relax. It’s been delay after delay for years so I don’t see the harm. Personally I was happy they delayed it. Don’t know if I said it here many months ago, but launch in q4 for me was always a good thing. Been able to fill my bags along the way. Fzappa, not sure you remember, but I also said months ago that I’m going to change my business name to Holo here in the UK. I can confirm this has been done and I’m now trading under Holo Maintenance Ltd 😏 Now if that is not a commitment then I don’t know what is 💪🏼🚀
