Had the time to go through everything in this report. Some notes below:
1a. Actuation is the Bottleneck - China leads this stack but linear actuation and hybrid designers are growing. While the scaling limit appears to be cognition for some (i still lean data as there are some very large hurdles for 'real world' deployment), the reality is that the ability to build these smart clankers are not on US soil.
1b. The stat that stood out to me was '90% of Unitrees suppliers are within hours of Hangzhou, and as i touched upon it before this means China's actuators ecosystem can just interate faster and recover from supply shocks more quickly. The tight clustering is a compound advantage no Western startup has today. SO THERE IS A BIG OPPORTUNITY FOR US YANKS to support and enable the US focused companies of today/tomorrow.
2. When it comes to sensors, the edge is in software fusion and control latency. Teleops with ultra low latency networks allow for labor arbitrage. Where im still thinking through is where are the government subsidies (Elon <> Tesla via Energy) come to mind to actually scale the development/manufacturing of these bots.
3. Watts Hours per Meter = MPG. Honestly just like this framing and easy metric to bring into conversations with buidlers, investors and my parents. Long term viability requires dense battery packs, smarter BMS and efficient locomation hardware. Power is the economic gating factor here...upstream from more autonomy and even perception.
4. Software (via Data) remains the Moat - Nvidias Isaac (posted about it last week) + ROS + fleet coherence /orchestration tooling are all gunning for motion data, control loops and sim logs form the next software flywheels.

Does this future seems achievable
Let's name this robot toastie robot
1. Many many people purchase toastie robot - it's cool, it makes PBJ sandwich (maybe not, seems like it can only toast)
2. Open-source: As more people buy, the robot learns more and faster from the various environments
The Missing Loop in AI
Talking about the need for AI tools to learn subtly from user behavior, instead of explicitly asking for feedback
I think that learning invisibly helps to make the experience with AI a lot smoother and helps to retain users
Also smarter in picking up patterns, as humans themselves might not be as discerning
