RIP Denis Kapustin 🌹
He fell last night against Putin's forces.
He was a true warrior. He had a presence and force of personality that is seldom encountered.
I met him in 2016. I asked him about Putin. Is he not good? I asked. Is he not preferable to what we have in the West?
Whereupon he responded that just because he is not quite as crazy as Merkel, he is still not good for (Slavic) Russians. He gave me a very interesting overview of Russian society – especially as it pertains to demographics and migration of non-Russians into Russian territories.
He also told me of the persecution of Russian Ethno-Nationalists and other nefarious activities by the Putin regime. Before talking to him, I had a quite different opinion of Putin.
Thus, it came as no surprise that Denis joined the Ukrainian war-effort in 2022.
And yesterday, he gave his life for a cause he believed in. He died as he lived – as a warrior.
On a personal note, I will always be grateful to him for inviting me to fight at Kampf der Nibelungen in Germany in 2017. I will always bear with me an insight he shared with me just before my MMA match – keep your guard up and keep breathing.
May Perun watch over you in the afterlife, Denis!
