If you don't understand any of these steps, ask first, don't just skip ahead.
We're assuming you flashed the GApps zip from recovery on this current slot, and now things are broken and Google apps keep crashing and contacts won't sync and stuff like that.
1. On phone, while booted, make sure you remove your Google account ("Settings > Passwords & accounts" > tap on your Google account name & scroll down & choose "delete account")
2. Turn on Airplane Mode on the phone so that it doesn't start trying to download anything right away.
3. Go into "Settings > Apps > See all __ apps > (menu) > Show system", then get app info for Contacts and for Calendar, and clear cache & clear storage.
4. Uninstall any Google apps that you downloaded directly from the Play Store (instead of flashed as part of installing a GApps zip); like Gmail or YouTube.
5. Plug in USB to computer, open a terminal on computer, and do adb root then adb shell to open a root shell on phone (requires you have enabled Developer Options, enabled ADB Debugging, and enabled Rooted debugging on phone), which should have the # prompt.
The next step is one long command that does a lot of things, one after the other.
As soon as it finishes you'll want to reboot asap, before the apps realize what you're doing. ;)
6. Copy & paste the following command and hit enter to run it. It will uninstall any updates to system-installed Google Apps, clear data from Play Store & Play Services, and resets runtime permissions:
pm uninstall-system-updates && pm clear com.android.vending && pm clear com.google.android.gms && rm /data/misc_de/0/apexdata/com.android.permission/runtime-permissions.xml
Once you see the # prompt again, type reboot and hit enter to restart the phone. When the screen goes dark, unplug the USB cable.
7. When phone finishes booting, unlock & go into "Settings > Apps > See all __ apps > (menu) > Show system" again, get info for Google Play Services and grant all permissions you can, and make sure "Allow app to modify system settings" is turned on. Do the same for Google Play store; enable all the permissions you can.
8. Clear app data & cache for Contacts & Calendar apps again (just in case it helps).
9. Reboot again just in case it helps, then you can finally turn off Airplane Mode.
10. Go into Google Play Store and check for updates (don't sign in to your Google account yet). It should have updates available for Google Play Services (and probably some others). You should also check in Play Store > Settings > About and tap the "Update Play Store" link.
After it has updated everything, probably reboot again.
11. Now you should be fine to sign back into your Google account, and start re-adding apps. You might need to uninstall & reinstall some apps that relied on push notifications from Google Cloud Messaging.
Play Integrity has replaced Safety Net. If you're noticing that some apps aren't appearing in the Google Play Store or certain apps (especially banking apps and some games) aren't working, your device might be failing the Play Integrity check. Unfortunately, this issue affects all custom ROMs, not just crDroid. For more information and possible temporary solutions, please read the following:
https://xdaforums.com/t/info-play-integrity-api-replacement-for-safetynet.4479337/
UPDATE: Starting May 2025, Google has started enforcing new Play Integrity verdicts, which in simple terms, require a locked bootloader to pass device or higher. crDroid 12.0+ has incorporated a built-in keybox setting that allows you to pass integrity
As of now, you must find the keybox yourself. We will not provide it for you. There are many root module projects out there that tend to supply them as they come out
No. With OTA updates you don't have to do that. If you flash a new version (Android 16 - 17 for example) you do need to flash the latest GAPPS.

You don't need to flash them again.
I never use OTA myself so I am not 100% sure.

Hello everyone,
I was looking up the crDroid website, to check if my device, the POCO M3 is supported.
I found one titled "crDroid for POCO M3 & Redmi 9T" . However, the codename listed is "chime," whereas my device's codename is "citrus" Can I install it, and will it work?
Dirty flash is when you install an update without formatting or wiping the data partition. Dirty flash therefore means no loss of files if you do it correctly.
Clean flash is when you format the data partition. This therefore means loss of files unless you have backed them up to an external device like a computer or otg storage device
There is only a few times you may need to clean flash.
-When going from one major version to another like android 13 to 14.
-When downgrading.
-When your device maintainer says it's required because of changes.
-Maybe other times
Obviously we can't account for every user configuration...so backups are still advised when dirty flashing (Your device, your files, your responsibility). If something doesn't work after you dirty flash, then a clean install following your maintainers instructions and files normally gives you the same experience as everyone else who follows those steps.
Reading in your device specific support group will give you the most accurate answer for your specific device.
I also noticed that if I turn on screen recording with sound, the player behaves normally.

Please note the crDroid community group is NOT for device specific support or questions.
For Officially Maintained crDroid devices:
1) Research in your device specific telegram support group or XDA thread to see if other users are having the same issue. Links to the group/xda thread can be found on the download page for your device on crdroid.net
2) If other users are having the same issue, please help your device maintainer by providing steps to reproduce the issue and suitable bug logs. Do this via your device group or xda thread. Do NOT PM your maintainer unless they request.
3)If no other users can reproduce your issue, then the problem may be specific to your device and it's setup. Clean installing crDroid (clean flashing) using your maintainers recommended steps & files can normally fix.
4)SEARCH and read in this group and your device specific group/XDA thread to see if anyone has the same issue..and any possible fixes/work arounds.
5)If your issue is game or app related, then your first point of support should be with the makers of that game or app through their support channels, groups and forums. Root detection of apps, games, or issues with play-integrity checks by these apps should be researched in more suitable places like XDA forums as they are not crDroid specific.
Unfortunately we only support official crDroid devices in our support groups. Any questions related to GSI or unofficial builds are not suited for this group
As always, Google, XDA, Telegram search, and other resources should be used at all times to help you solve your issue. There is no paid level of support for any custom rom. Support is given by volunteers only in their spare time.
