Singapore Enforces Licensing for Crypto Custody and Related Services.
Singapore is expanding its Payment Services Act to include token custody and a wider range of financial transactions, effective from April 4, 2024.
The aim is to establish Singapore as a leading hub for digital assets by introducing stricter requirements for digital payment token service providers.
The updated regulations mandate closer oversight of firms involved in the exchange and transfer of digital tokens, with affected entities required to comply within 30 days and submit a licensing application within six months.
This move highlights Singapore's commitment to fostering innovation in the digital asset space while ensuring robust safeguards against money laundering and terrorism financing.
