A hacker who recently breached a U.S. government crypto wallet and stole around $20 million has returned $19.3 million.

According to Arkham Intelligence, the returned amount consists of $13.19 million in aUSDC and 2,408 ETH.

The hacked wallet was previously linked to the Bitfinex investigation.

Tether vs. The Wall Street Journal!

👀 Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal claimed the U.S. is investigating Tether over sanctions violations and money laundering concerns.

Tether’s CTO Paolo Ardoino quickly responded, denying any signs of an investigation, and noted he had informed WSJ reporters of this earlier. 🤷

📝 On their website, Tether published a statement calling WSJ’s reporting “irresponsible,” accusing them of basing their claims on rumors from unnamed sources. Tether also pointed out that the article ignored their track record of collaboration with law enforcement and freezing criminal wallets.
