Nous's Hermes Agent Can Now Pay and Buy on Its Own

Nous Research integrated Stripe's agent toolkit into its Hermes model, giving the AI agent the ability to make payments, buy goods and pay for APIs on its own.

Hermes can even provision its own SaaS subscriptions, with configurable limits capping every action, turning a language model into an economic actor that transacts autonomously.

It is a concrete step toward agentic commerce: software that doesn't just decide what to buy, but holds the rails to actually pay for it.

Thetanuts Exploited for $2.1M, Whitehat Recovers $2M

Thetanuts Finance, a DeFi options protocol, was exploited for about $2.1M — but a whitehat clawed back roughly $2M, leaving only a small net loss.

The attacker swapped $105K USDC for about 60 ETH and still holds around $34K in option tokens. PeckShield flagged the incident, the latest in a brutal June for DeFi security.

2026 World Cup is the most crypto-integrated event in the history of sport

This isn't marketing or a few sponsor logos on a banner. FIFA has embedded blockchain into the tournament deeper than ever before: for the first time, the World Cup has an official prediction market partner — ADI Predictstreet, which launched on-chain markets for all 104 matches, settled through Chainlink.

FIFA also stopped renting other people's chains and built its own blockchain on Avalanche L1 — that's where FIFA Collect now lives. The old partner, Algorand, is history.

And around all of it sits a layer any fan can touch: fan tokens for 6 national teams on Chiliz, Sorare fantasy on Ethereum, and $3B+ in volume on the winner across Polymarket and Kalshi.

Aerodrome to Pay Users for Predicting Liquidity Demand

Aerodrome, the largest DEX on Base, will launch Predictive Allocation in July, replacing performance-based reward voting with a model that pays users for forecasting where liquidity is needed next.

Call it right and you earn a bigger share of protocol revenue. Dromos Labs says the prediction-market and AMM blend can boost incentive efficiency by up to 80%, its biggest upgrade yet.

It is a structural rethink of DeFi emissions, rewarding anticipation of future demand over past trading, and lands alongside the Velodrome–Aerodrome 'Aero' merger.

Plume Brings PIMCO-Backed Bond Yield to Bybit Users

Plume partnered with Bybit to launch institutional fixed-income vaults, letting Bybit users put idle stablecoins into onchain products backed by PIMCO and CMBI.

The vaults hold mortgage-backed securities, high-yield corporate bonds and Asia-Pacific investment-grade debt — yield from real-world credit, not crypto markets.

It is a clean RWA distribution play: TradFi fixed income packaged onchain and dropped straight into an exchange's user base.

A US export-control directive citing national security forces Anthropic to abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all customers and any foreign national worldwide.

Anthropic says no universal jailbreak exists and stands by its safeguards; all its other models stay online, with the company promising more details within 24 hours.

Early SpaceX Investors Net Billions From Historic IPO

SpaceX listed on Nasdaq under the SPCX ticker after pricing its IPO at $135 per share and raising $75 billion, valuing the company at approximately $1.77 trillion.

The IPO is expected to generate historic venture capital returns. Founders Fund's roughly 3% stake is now worth over $50B, turning about $600M invested across multiple rounds into one of the biggest VC wins on record.

Other major beneficiaries include Andreessen Horowitz with a stake worth more than $10B, Sequoia Capital at over $20B, and Valor Equity Partners, whose holdings are valued at nearly $70B.

Despite posting $18.7B in revenue in 2025 and a $4.9B net loss tied to Starship and xAI investments, investor demand reportedly exceeded available shares by roughly 4x.

Across the major CEXs (plus Jupiter), exchanges stacked $55M+ in World Cup "prize pools." But these aren't gifts, they're acquisition budgets dressed as football. The biggest pools come from the names that need traders most: Bitrue ($25M) and BingX ($10M) outspend everyone, while Binance just runs daily boxes.

Pool size tells you how hard each is fighting for relevance, not how much you'll take home. Read the volume requirements before you "play."

LG Electronics Builds an Arbitrum Layer 2 for Onchain Ads

LG Electronics is building its own Arbitrum-based layer-2 to move digital advertising onchain, creating a shared ledger of ad inventory and how audiences interact with it.

The chain batches ad transactions cheaply and runs the ad market automatically — "you don't need manual interventions," said Arbitrum co-founder Steven Goldfeder.

Already piloted with a Japanese ad agency, LG joins a wave of corporates — Stripe, Circle, Robinhood — launching their own chains; ARB rose about 5% on the news.

Binance Introduces bStocks for 24/7 Onchain Stock Trading

Binance has introduced bStocks on BNB Chain, bringing 1:1-backed tokenized U.S. securities onchain as BEP-20 tokens. The assets can be traded 24/7 with zero conversion fees, while daily Proof of Collateral is available to verify backing.

The first wave includes Circle, Micron, NVIDIA, Sandisk, and Tesla, with more listings like SpaceX expected later. Users can start with as little as $5 and hold the tokens in self-custody through wallets like Binance Wallet and Trust Wallet.

The big push here is DeFi utility. Binance says bStocks can soon be deployed across protocols such as Venus, Lista DAO, PancakeSwap, and Aster, letting holders lend or provide liquidity while continuing to receive dividends on the underlying stocks.

Binance also points to the network’s growing tokenized asset ecosystem, where bStocks now joins products like XAUt, BUIDL, CMB International’s fund, and Franklin Templeton’s Benji.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Could Drive Up To $10B Volume Surge In Prediction Markets

Bernstein, a leading Wall Street research and investment firm managing nearly $900 billion in assets, called the 2026 FIFA World Cup a “watershed moment” for the prediction markets industry.

The firm estimates the expanded 48-team tournament could generate over $3 billion in additional handle and boost consumer trading volume across prediction markets by $5–$10 billion, making it the sector’s largest catalyst to date.

Bernstein sees companies such as Robinhood, Coinbase, and DraftKings as key beneficiaries. Robinhood's prediction markets business is projected to reach $586 million in annual revenue by the end of 2026, while Coinbase's prediction markets product surpassed a $100 million annualized revenue run rate just months after launch.

The firm expects prediction markets to continue expanding beyond sports and elections, projecting the industry could grow from roughly $240 billion in annual volume in 2026 to $1 trillion by 2030.

Aztec Connect Drained for $2.1M via ZK Proof Bug

Grvt Takes Aim at Idle Capital Problem in DeFi & TradFi

Grvt has unveiled a new core thesis targeting one of crypto's persistent structural issues: the majority of capital across both DeFi and traditional finance sits idle rather than being actively deployed.

The team points to several recurring friction points: funds parked unused on platforms, cash sitting on the sidelines post-volatility, and yield products that lock capital with limited flexibility. Even actively deployed capital faces inefficiencies, with fragmented strategies spread across thousands of protocols, withdrawal delays, and constant liquidity trade-offs.

In response, Grvt is repositioning around a single self-custodial balance that combines earning, trading, and opportunity access within one unified structure, removing the need to shuffle assets between separate products.

The move signals a broader industry shift toward capital efficiency over product complexity, with Grvt betting that reducing idle time is the cleaner value proposition for the next wave of users.
