Read an interesting article about the problems with tokens in crypto today. The main issues:

-Token inflation through unsustainable liquidity mining
-Sell pressure from poorly structured airdrops
-High fully diluted valuation (FDV) with low circulating supply
-Lack of revenue sharing or value accrual mechanisms

In the thread he suggests a shift towards demand-based unlock schedules as a solution. This approach involves:

-Releasing tokens only when there's real demand from active users
-Selling tokens at a discount instead of giving them away for free
-Ensuring that committed users become token holders

There is definitely a need for aligning incentives with long-term participation and real value accrual, moving away from time-based unlocks to demand-based unlocks, and incorporating revenue-sharing mechanisms to give token holders a tangible stake in the protocol's success.

Think we’ve transitioned to Phase 5 where stronger alts have found some bottoms, but am still unsure if global bottoms for most things have come.

This is the regime where I’m the least active, mainly because there is minimal volatility either way. We try to pick up 1/2 things that we think can offer better defensiveness than the average alt and hope they outperform if we are wrong on being bearish but that’s about it.

The tricky thing about Phase 5 is that it can last any period of time. To me I don’t think we stay in this phase as long as the last cycle given the lack of structural destruction (nobody went belly up) but it’s anyone’s guess. Crypto still probably follows equities for awhile…
